Starting April 3 rd , I am starting a new career. I am going into new car sales at Tyler Ford. For the past month I have been closing out at my old job and studying the Ford Source Books learning about new Fords. I have always wanted to work in something automotive and I love new cars, so here I go!! Needless to say, I am extremely excited. I spent a day off last week out there looking at cars and taking them for a ride to get familiar with all the different models and options. Need a new Mustang??? This coming Saturday, April 8 th is the Downtown Hoedown Car Show in Lufkin, Texas. It starts with a parade at 10:00 and they are expecting around 300 cars. I know of a few Mustangers planning to attend, it should be a nice day to go check out some cars down the road a little bit! The Pate Swap Meet is the end of this month, April 27-30 at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth. If you are looking for Mustang Parts or just love swap meets, this is the one for you!! Pate is the largest swap meet in Texas, and is known for being the 3 rd largest in the whole country. The Mid America Shelby and Ford Powered Meet is coming up June 8-11 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A lot of our members caravan up there every year. If you have not gone before, you really should check it out this year! Last year Eddy Franks and John Pritchard made Mustangs of East Texas proud by taking the top places in the drag racing action. Thursday is some racetrack action at Hallett Motor Speedway, followed by a huge Cruise Night with 4 whole blocks barricaded off on each end and Mustangs lined up both sides of the street. On Friday there is more track time, Saturday is for drag racing and the Car Show is on Sunday. Mitch has a set of tires reserved for this year’s event already, and has been counting days ever since last year! Make your plans now to join the group for some Mustang fun like you have never seen! Coming up this July is the 2 nd Annual Phil Clark Stampede and Car Show. Holly Clark, the daughter of Phil Clark organized the first show last year on the weekend of July 4 th , and even with the flash flood rainstorm that happened it was a great show. FROM THE EDITOR

Wow, April is here already! Daylight Savings Time is starting and it is my favorite time of year! Nice weather, long days and lots going on!

Starting April 3rd, I am starting a new career.

This coming Saturday, April 8th is the Downtown Hoedown Car Show in Lufkin, Texas.

Pate is the largest swap meet in Texas, and is known for being the 3rd largest in the whole country.

Make your

plans now to join the group for some Mustang fun like you have never seen!

Coming up this July is the 2nd Annual Phil Clark Stampede and Car Show. Holly Clark, the daughter of Phil Clark organized the first show last year on the weekend of July 4th, and even with the flash flood rainstorm that happened it was a great show. This year a bunch of Mustangers from United Stangs from all over the state are planning to come, so it should be a really big show! Plan to attend and join in the fun!

Once again, if you need to send me something, please use my new email address [email protected]. I check it every day. My old hotmail address is no longer active I just found out because I forget to check it.

If you have an idea or an event please contact me or David Hartsell and let us know about it. This is YOUR club, we are open to suggestions. Also if you would like to help out with the website, please speak up, we need to get that going again, it has been down for months now.

Hope to see each of you at the meeting this Tuesday night at Traditions Restaurant. Come at 6:30 to eat, and the meeting starts at 7:00. Now that Daylight Savings Time is here, it is for sure we will cruise afterwards so be sure and bring your Mustang!! Our record last year was 22 Mustangs all cruising Broadway, lets see if we can break that record!-Harold Phillips, Editor

RACING AT RUSK

A few of our members who are also in United Stangs have been going out to the Cherokee County Motorsports Park in Rusk lately with our late models. They have been opening on Friday nights for Test and Tune night.

Chad and I have been out 3 times in the last month or so with a group of late model Mustangers. The Orange mobile has seen a few

trips down the track even, with a respectable 14.77 best ET running a stock automatic and a few bolt-ons. Chad has seen a best ET of 13.9. One Friday night was coooold, it was in the 40’s but the cars loved it! This last Friday night was in the 70’s and humid, so our times were a little slower.

I have a few pictures with some of our MOET people in them that I will share.

2006 RAFFLE CAR

2

Page 3: 2006APR.doc

At the end of the East Texas Crisis Center Auto Show a brand new Raffle Car was unveiled!! This year Tyler Ford had donated a 2006 Mustang Convertible, brand new!! Very nice. No tickets available yet, but I will get with Carrie and we will get some. Last year’s 2005 Coupe sold record numbers of tickets, a convertible should sell even more!! Everybody needs to help out, with a donated car every penny goes directly to the East Texas Crisis Center and their operations there.

CLUB DECALS

Are you wearing your Mustangs of East Texas sticker? I have a supply of them with me at each meeting. If you are a member of Mustangs of

East Texas, place one of these on your Mustang so everybody knows you are part of us!!

MONTHLY CLUB MEETINGS

Our monthly club meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at Traditions on South Broadway, Tyler, just down the street from Lowe’s and Best Buy on the other side of Broadway. The meetings are open to all club members, friends, family, and other interested parties. If you have not been attending meetings, you owe it to yourself to come and join us. This is the place to come for help with your Mustang or to suggest and help us plan club events. If the weather is good we like to cruise up Broadway and back down to the parking lot at Broadway and Rice Rd. If you are unable to make the meeting and have something of importance, please call one of the club officers listed on the back of this newsletter.

OUR NEXT MEETING IS SET FOR TUESDAY, APRIL 4, 2006. COME AT 6:30 TO EAT, THE MEETING STARTS AT 7:00 PM. BRING YOUR MUSTANG AND CRUISE WITH US!

I would like to wish the following people a Happy Birthday for the month of April:

UNITED STANGS

There is now a new Mustang Club in East Texas, it is called United Stangs. It is mostly late models, we are centered around a website www.unitedstangs.com. So far we have a pretty impressive bunch of people to be so new. We have had a couple of Get Togethers and several thrown together cruises.

Several of our members from Mustangs of East Texas have joined, and we are having lots of fun. This is in no way designed to take away from Mustangs of East Texas, and David Hartsell and I are planning to pull the clubs together for events, so everybody benefits. If you love your late model and enjoy cruising and having fun, check us out on the net. Caution, the website can be a little bit addictive.

We interact with the whole group statewide on the web page and get to know people from the Houston and San Antonio Chapters and are planning some statewide meets this summer. Come join us!!
