PURDUE COACHING STAFF

Jack WarnerHead Coach - 3rd Season

Purdue University head coach Jack Warner has seen the Boilermakers improve greatly in his short tenure, tutoring a trio of All-Americans, taking several athletes to national-level competition and seeing 12 school records fall in just three years at the helm. A graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, Warner coached at Big Ten rival Ohio State University and the United State Military Acadamy at West Point before coming to West Lafayette, Ind.

Monica GaryAsst. Coach - 8th Season

Purdue University assistant coach Monica Gary is in her eighth season with the team and has an impressive array of credentials and accomplishments to her credit. She has tutored several of Purdue’s sprinters and hurdlers to numerous successes, including several Big Ten Champions and All-Americans. A graduate of Bowling Green State University, Gary also has coached three international U.S. Junior teams and the North Olympic Festival Team in 1995.

Rodney ZuyderwykAsst. Coach - 6th Season

Purdue University assistant coach Rodney Zuyderwyk is in his sixth season overseeing the pole vault, javelin, men’s hurdles and multi-event athletes. During his tenure, Purdue athletes have broken more than 10 school records and won 11 conference crowns, three NCAA Regional titles and a national championship. A Washington State University graduate, Zuyderwyk helped the Cougars to a Pac-10 Championship, two National Dual Meet titles and a runner-up fi nish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Darrin WilcoxsonAsst. Coach - 3rd Season

Purdue University assistant coach Darrin Wilcoxson is in his third season of working with the men’s distance runners and cross country teams after coming to the Boilermakers from Eastern Kentucky University in 2004. A standout runner at Purdue, he earned several honors in his tenure with the Boilermakers, including a 12th-place fi nish at the 1993 NCAA Indoor Championships, a 19th-place showing at the 1993 NCAA Outdoor Championships and the school record in the indoor 800-meter run with a time of 1:48.70.

Kelly PhillipsAsst. Coach - 2nd Season

Purdue University assistant coach Kelly Phillips is in her second year at the helm of the women’s distance runners and cross country teams. A former All-American at Auburn University, Phillips spent fi ve years at the University of South Florida, where she earned a trio of Conference USA Cross Country Coach of the Year honors, 2001 Conference USA Track & Field Coach of the Year plaudits and guided 33 athletes to the NCAA Championships.

Ross RichardsonAsst. Coach - 2nd Season

Purdue University assistant coach Ross Richardson heads the men’s and women’s throws programs for the Boilermakers and has had several successes in his short two years with the team. In just his fi rst season he helped produce a trio of Big Ten scorers, while adding three Big Ten Champions this year, including a school-record breaking women’s discus throw by junior Astin Steward. A graduate of Monmouth College, Richardson’s coaching resume includes Sacramento State University, Western Illinois University and Garden City Community College.

Purdue University junior Rayland Currie has been very successful in the triple jump for the Boilermakers this season, fi nishing in second place at the Dave Rankin Invitational (4/21) and taking home a win at the Mike Poehlein Invitational (3/31) with a jump of 14.79 meters (48-06.25). He recorded a personal best and NCAA Mideast Regional qualifying mark of 15.17 meters (49-09.25) at the Dave Rankin Invitational. He also scored an eighth-place fi nish in the triple jump at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships (5/13).

In his sophomore year, Ben Harpenau has been a standout for the Boilermakers in the hammer throw. He took home the win at the Dave Rankin Invitational (4/21) with a throw of 59.37 meters (194-09). He posted a personal best at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships (5/11) with a length of 60.77 meters (199-04), good for the bronze medal.

In his junior year, Keith Hopkins has established himself as one of the top hurdlers in Purdue history. He clocked a 13.88 to win the 110-hurdles at Missouri’s Tom Botts Invitational (4/14) and earn Male Athlete of the Meet honors. He set the Rankin Track record and posted the second-fastest time in school history at the Dave Rankin Invitational (4/21), running a 13.59. He’s also won the Big Ten Men’s Track Athlete of the Week award three times this season, the most of any Boilermaker, and grabbed the bronze medal at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships (5/13) with a time of 13.88.

Junior captain Brian Kaluf has been solid all season for the Boilermakers in the 110- and 400-meter high hurdles. In the 110-hurdles, he took home a total of four third place fi nishes and clocked his personal-best time of 14.22 at the Dave Rankin Invitational (4/21). In the 400- hurdles, he fi nished in second place once and took home the title at the Billy Hayes Invitational (5/4) with a time of 52.13, which was his personal best for the season. Kaluf placed eighth in both the 110- and 400-hurdles at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships (5/13).

Sophomore Zach Logan has had great success for the Boilermakers in the 400-meter dash this season. He ran his personal-best and NCAA Mideast Regional qualifying time of 46.71 at the Billy Hayes Invitational (5/4), earning a third place fi nish. Logan was a key member of the Boilermakers 4x100- and 4x400-meter relays squads, which both qualifi ed for the regionals as well.

He earned fi rst-place and notched his career-best at the Billy Hayes Invitational (5/4) with a throw of 17.57 meters (57-07.75). He posted his regional qualifi er at the fi rst meet of the season (Arizona St. 3/24), with a throw of 16.80 meters (55-01.50). He grabbed sixth at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships (5/13) with a throw of 17.13 meters (56-02.50).

Lance Moe has had a stellar rookie season for the Boilermakers in the high jump, capping it off with a NCAA Regional qualifi er and fi fth-place showing at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships (5/12). Moe hit his regional mark and career-best height in the men’s decathlon, clearing 2.10 meters (6-10.75) to earn 896 points in the event. He returned the next day, after completing the decathlon, to place fi fth in the open competition with a jump of 2.02 meters (6-07.50). He also won the event at the Dave Rankin Invitational (4/21) and had a top showing in the Auburn Tiger Classic Decathlon (4/6).

Sophomore Nolan Petites has overcome nagging injuries this season to post regional marks in the long jump and triple jump over the past month. He recorded his career-best in his only long-jump competition, placing seventh with a mark of 7.43 meters (24-04.50) at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships (5/12). In the triple jump, he posted a regional mark of 15.30 meters (50-02.50) to win the Dave Rankin Invitational (4/21), and notched his personal best of 15.33 meters (50-03.50) at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships for a sixth-place fi nish.

Senior Rickey Pinkney is one of the top hurdlers in school history, becoming the fi rst Purdue All-American in the hurdles, last season in the 60-meter hurdles, since Rod Woodson in 1986. Pinkney is a three-time indoor Big Ten Champion and was the runner up in the 110-meter high hurdles this season at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships (5/13), where he clocked his season-best time of 13.78 seconds. He holds the school record in the 60-hurdles and has the fourth-fastest time in school history in the 110-hurdles.

2007 Big Ten Freshman of the Year Jon Pullum was the lone gold medalist for the Boilermaker men at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships (5/12), hurling the discus a career-best 54.15 meters (177-08) to become the fourth Boiler in school history to earn conference rookie honors. He also earned his NCAA Regional mark in the hammer throw at the conference meet, tossing it a career-best 56.50 meters (185-04) to earn seventh place. Pullum hit his fi rst regional mark in the discus at the Mike Poehlein Invitational (3/31), throwing it 52.37 meters (171-10) to win the event.

Junior Jh’Rome Tuggle has been a consistent performer in the Purdue sprints this season, steadily improving his times in the 200- and 400-meter dashes all year. He hit the regional standard in both events at the Billy Hayes Invitational, racing to a fi rst-place fi nish and time of 21.07 in the 200 and notching a second-place showing and career-best time of 46.55 in the 400, the second-fastest mark in school history. Senior Lindsey Blaine was one of three women’s Big Ten Champions for the Old Gold and Black, winning the javelin throw with a career-long toss of 51.81 meters (170-00). The toss is the third longest in school history, and more than a meter farther than her previous personal best. She won the event fi ve times this season and hit the regional standard in all seven outings. She placed third in the Championship of America fl ight at the Penn Relays with a throw of 47.92 meters (154-02). Her career-best jump of 6.31 meters (20-08.50) earned her the silver medal at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships (5/12) in the long jump and set a new Purdue record. She notched her regional mark of 12.35 meters (40-06.25) in the triple jump to earn eighth at the conference meet and clocked a season-best of 13.56 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles at the Dave Rankin Invitational (4/21). Kincaid also holds the Purdue records in the 100-hurdles (13.27), the 60-hurdles (8.31) and the indoor long jump (6.18m/20-03.50). She was a 2006 NCAA Championship qualifi er in the 100-hurdles, fi nishing sixth at last year’s regional meet.
