Sports Information ContactRob Kulish comes to Marist after graduating from

Lafayette College in May of '06 with a B.A. in PoliticalScience and Economics. He played three years of col-legiate baseball for the Leopards before injury forcedhim to retire prematurely.

He became interested in sports information during hissenior year after he helped out the Lafayette SportsInformation Department during baseball games he wasunable to play.

Once he graduated, he went on to intern in the Western ConnecticutState University Sports Information office. He was the primary contactfor baseball, and secondary contact for softball, men's lacrosse, andwomen's lacrosse.

Erin Layton is in her second season as the head softball coach at Marist.

In her first season leading the Red Foxes, Layton led the Red Foxes to a fourthplace finish in the MAAC (20-30 overall, 9-7 MAAC). In the MAAC Tournament,Marist defeated Niagara and St. Peter's before falling to Canisius in the TournamentChampionship.

Layton came to Marist after serving as head softball coach at Saint Francis (Pa.) fortwo seasons following a stint as head coach at the College of Saint Elizabeth (N.J.)

in 2004.

Prior to her season at the helm at Saint Elizabeth, Layton served as an assistant at Furman University (S.C.) for two years, helping lead the Paladinsto a 24-24 overall record and an appearance in the Southern Conference Tournament title game in 2002. Layton also served as an assistant atBrown University (R.I.) for one season.

A four-year letterwinner during her playing career at the University of Connecticut, Layton earned first-team All-Big East accolades as a junior andsenior and was a member of two Big East Tournament championship teams. A catcher, Layton batted .297 over four seasons and ranks in UConn'sTop 10 in five career categories, including games played (209), runs batted in (100), and base hits (211). The Huskies posted a composite record of127-83-1 during her collegiate career, including a 55-15 mark in Big East play, and advanced to NCAA Regional competition in 1995 and 1996.

Upon graduation from Connecticut, Layton played professionally for the New Jersey Diamonds of the Ladies Professional Baseball League. TheTrenton, NJ, native was selected Player-of-the-Decade by the Trenton Times newspaper in 1999.

Layton earned a bachelor's degree in early childhood education in 1998 and a master's degree in sports management in 2000, both fromConnecticut.

Chrystine McHugh joins the Marist coaching staff after an impressive careeras a player for the Red Foxes. In 2006 as a senior, McHugh led Marist innearly every major offensive category in leading the Foxes to their first everMAAC Tournament Championship and trip to the NCAA Tournament.

In 2006 McHugh was named to the league's All-Academic Team, as well asthe All-Tournament Team in addition to being named the 2006 MAAC Playerof the Year. In the Tucson Regional against #2 Arizona, McHugh picked upMarist's first ever NCAA Tournament hit, a double down the left field line

against the Wildcats Alicia Hollowell.

McHugh, a native of Port Ewen, N.Y. currently lives in her hometown.

Tara DiMaggio joins the Marist coaching staff for her first season. DiMaggio,a Fishkill, N.Y. native and John Jay High School graduate, will focus on work-ing with the team's pitching staff.

In her time at John Jay, DiMaggio was an intricate part in five consecutiveleague titles and three New York State Championship appearances. She hada combined ERA of 0.76 in her five years, and was named the PoughkeepsieJournal Pitcher of the Year three different times. She was also thePoughkeepsie Journal Player of the Year in 1998.

She was the first softball player ever recruited to play at Syracuse and was part of their inaugural softball team in 2000. While atSyracuse, DiMaggio was a two-year captain, and a four-time Big East Player of the Week. She currently holds Syracuse records forwins, shutouts, appearances, innings pitched and strikeouts. DiMaggio also was a utility player for the Orange.

DiMaggio has coached the Deuces Wild Women's Open team ('02-04) in addition to organizing and running the Advanced PitchingClinic at the Casperkill Country Club ('03-05). She competed in the Empire State Games from 1995-2005, helping the Hudson Valleysquad earn a gold medal in 2002. She is currently employed by IBM as a lead graphic designer.

Even Steven: Marist was .500 (4-4) on the road and .500 (4-4) athome in conference play this season. They ended the seasonwith eight in a row at home. They lost three of four to start athome against tournament participants, Niagara and Canisius, butcame back to win three of four this past weekend over St. Peter’sand Rider. Marist played 20 straight road games at one point thisseason

Pitching not hitting: Marist is second in the conference in pitch-ing but sixth in hitting. They have had trouble being consistentwith the sticks all season.

Heating Up: Senior Pamela de la Llave and junior Jessica Greenhave both seen there averages rise dramtically over the past threeweeks. Both were under .200 in mid-April and now are in the mid-to-high .200’s. De la Llave is hitting .256 and Green is at .272.De la Llave has three homers in her last four games played, andshe has started 100 straight for Marist.

Gio: Junior shortstop Melissa Giordano was dominant with thestick in and out of the conference this season. She is leadingMarist in average, hits, doubles, and runs. She is second in HR.She is also leading in OPS and Slugging and has been solid atshortstop all season.
