Welcome to your WRCC and the December issue of The Western Flyer.

As we wind down 2009 I want to take this opportunity to express thanks. It has been and continues to be a difficult economic climate, not just for businesses but for families, friends, neighbors, churches, charities and other non-profits as well. While recent reports indicate some encouraging numbers, the immediate future will continue to be a challenge for many. However, in light of what we may face today, there are still many things for which to be thankful. We thank our armed forces. As we remember the attack on Pearl Harbor this December and as we tune into the news each evening, we are reminded of what true sacrifice really means. To those who protect our country, along with their families, we are grateful. Also, thanks to those who protect and serve us locally. Few of us face life or death struggles when we leave for work each day, but for those who do, our gratitude. Our blessings in this country are far and wide; the challenge is not taking them for granted.

Also, thanks for our chamber members. Our organization’s existence depends upon our members and our goal is to promote and grow their businesses. As we enter 2010 we have some exciting plans to expand WRCC’s support of its membership. From the upcom-ing Newcomers Guide & Directory to expanded informational programs, I hope you will join me as we enter an exciting new year in Western Rockingham county all the while, remembering all that we have to be thankful for.

Thankful… For each new morning with its light, For rest and shelter of the night, For health and food, for love and friends, For everything Thy goodness sends. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

From all of us here at WRCC we wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas!
