WelcomeGuests!

for important information
about todays service and
how to get the most out of
your visit with us.
Volume 10 Number 42
FFCs Hands & Feet Serve ManyEven during these perilous times, last
Sunday nearly 20% of you made a com-
mitment to serve members of our body
who are in need. That is a tremendous,
God-honoring response of service!!
We are in the process of matching
those of you who responded with those
who have the most urgent needs first.
We will continue until we get everyone
who responded engaged in using the talents and treasures Godhas entrusted to your stewardship.
Based on this overwhelming response, it may take 3 or 4
weeks to get all of you engaged. We have a team of volunteers
working hard to make this happen.
If you were not here last week or didnt get one of these forms,
you can pick one up at the welcome center outside the audito-
rium, or in the foyer of Franklin Hall to discover some ways God
can use you to serve others in our body.
New & Improved Classroom SpaceBy Gary L. Jaehnel, Facilities Manager
Weve been looking to improve our functional space for
the Youth & Childrens Ministries but resources have not been
available to make that a reality. The Lord has seen fit recently to
provide the resources to change that situation. We are going to
remodel the existing area identified as classroom suite #152 (N of
the Back Door). Work will begin within the next couple of weeks
This area was previously leased to DM Christian School for
kindergarten classrooms and most recently used for general stor-age. The individual classrooms are going to be converted to open
space and configured to be a multi-use area. The primary users
will be the Youth Ministry (Jr. High) and Childrens Ministry.
The space will also be available to other small groups and for
special functions.
A special team was assembled to insure the best design and
development of this area. The room is designed to handle current
uses, plus it preparations are in place for future opportunities.
Members of the staff and Deacons thoroughly reviewed the remod-
eling proposal details and recently approved it.
One of our member families is graciously financing the major-
ity of costs associated with this project. A small group of vol-
unteers has also stepped forward to help with some of the tasks. We will finance the balance of costs from the FacilitiesCapital
Improvement Account. This account was specifically set up in
our General Budget for this type of project. Your regular giving
to the General Fund is helping make this improvement a reality.
The remodeling phase of this project will take several weeks
to complete. Well provide you with an update when its ready for
occupancy. Special thanks to the donor family for giving above
and beyond their regular giving as well to the volunteers for the
giving of their time and talents to make this project a success.
Serve Others in BeaverdaleNeighborhood Flyer Distribution
March 28 & April 4 | 10NoonLast Sunday there was an exceptional
response to those with physical/material needs.
To reach the spiritual needs of our neighbor-
hood, we are going to invite our neighbors to
our Easter service. On Saturdays, March 28 and
April 4, 10noon, we will gather at the church
and visit the neighborhoods surrounding our church to distribute
a flyer encouraging people to join us for our Easter celebration.
Mark your calendar now for this important serving opportunity.
Families, individuals, ABFs, small groups, this is an impor-
tant way to get involved in reaching out to those who live in our
FFC area.

He Hated God!By Steve Daugherty
On bail for second-degree burglary, strung out on dope, and
arrested for trespassing, I knew I was going to jail, said Joseph
Montgomery of Kentucky. At that moment, I hated God. I was
sick of my mother praying and asking God to watch over me. I
wanted God to just leave me alone.
Every day in the jail, Montgomery said, I would find a
Gideon Bible lying by my bed, but I moved the Bible away fromme and told Him I didnt want any more of His help. It seemed
that all He ever did was put me in places to be tormented.
I was hurting inside as I went to
sleep, Montgomery continued, but
when I awoke someone had placed that
Bible back by my bed. I thought, Okay,
Lord, I will just see what You have to
say, I opened it, and on the page where it
opened I read, That if thou shalt confess
with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart
that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
(Romans 10:9) That was all I needed to realize how bad a person
I really was. I asked for forgiveness and told Him I believe Hehad raised His Son Jesus from the dead.
That was how easy it was for me to find Christ as my
Savior!
Thank you again for the
opportunity to present a
Gideon stewardship report this
morning. If you are interested
in contributing financially to
the work, please make your
check out to The Gideons
International and place it in the
offering plate. For cash, please
use one of the generic envelopes in the pew and mark Gideons
on it.
If you want to support the Gideons financially, but cannot
do so this morning, I encourage you to pick up a free Gideon
Expressions card in the foyer. The cards are beautifully done and
deliver a wonderful message to those who have lost loved ones,
deserve recognition, or simply need to know youre thinking
of them. For just a $5 donation, a Bible will be placed by The
Gideons in memory or recognition of your special person or oc-
casion. Each Bible has the potential to reach 2,300 readers during
its life in a hotel or motel and is then recycled and placed in a jail
or prison. No doubt Joseph Montgomery is thankful for the Bible
recycled and placed in his jail cell.
Remember, every dollar goes to purchase and place Scrip-
tures. Not one penny goes for ministry overhead. Gideons coverall our own expenses.
I also encourage you to consider joining our ministry. If you
have a heart for evangelism, the Des Moines North Camp, which
includes our church, will be having a Membership Dinner on
Thursday night, April 16, where you can learn more about the
ministry. Several of us will be available at a table in the foyer and
would love to greet you and discuss membership. You may also
wish to visit our website at www.gideons.org.
18 members of First Federated serve as Gideons in central Iowa.
