We are a small team. We love handmade textures as well as natural colours and materials. We buy what we like. We buy what we know will sell. We take pride in being innovative and different. Above all, we believe that we can provide carpets, rugs and runners; using ethical and environmentally sound production practices, without compromise to quality, design or style.

We love handmade textures... We believe that our carpets are genuinely interesting because of their textures. We love the slight quirkiness and irregularity that can only be handmade. From our chunky boucles and bold stripes to our smooth, dense, luxurious Heavy Velvet; our carpets and rugs are warm, textural and tactile, but never boring.

Natural colours... We admire the range and subtlety of natural hues, their ability to make a statement or to fit naturally into a wide range of interiors, both contemporary and traditional. They can look stylish but timeless. They are easy to live with too.

Materials... We knot Himalayan rugs from pure Chinese silk or wool sourced from the high plateaux of Tibet. We weave carpets from high quality New Zealand wool, but also from undyed wools chosen from around the globe for their natural colours. We stitch rugs from leather hide and border our wool rugs in cotton, linen, leather or suede.

Ethical production... Our products are handmade, not mass produced. Our floorcoverings are woven on traditional wooden looms that require no electricity or are knotted by hand. Where possible we weave from undyed wool, thus reducing potentially damaging dyes within production and the environment. We visit our manufacturers regularly so know their labour and production practices. All our rug suppliers are Goodweave registered and inspected.

• Our Himalayan rugs can be made to Jacaranda’s patterns or to any design that you care to send

There are three main sections in Jacaranda’s brochure, one each for:

• Bespoke rugs

• Stock rugs

• Broadloom carpet.

However Jacaranda’s entire range can be made to measure as rugs or runners. So if you want something unusual or bespoke, please ring and ask. We’ll explain what is possible, plus quote lead time and price.

Bespoke RugsOur Himalayan, Leather, Bordered and Sculptured rugs on pages 6-17, offer you the customer, the opportunity to be as creative as you wish. Send us your own design and dimensions, or choose a design from Jacaranda’s brochure or website. Choose colours from our colour book or sample folders, or ask us to colour match (see below). The possibilities are endless.

Jacaranda will quote price (per m2) and delivery dates for bespoke rugs at the time of order. Delivery times vary with range but average 10-12 weeks.

Stock RugsWe’ve given these rugs their own section because we hold stock of them all in 4 standard sizes. These we can normally deliver within Britain within 3-5 working days. All stock designs can also be made-to-measure.

Broadloom Carpet Jacaranda holds UK stock of all the broadlooms shown in this section and can usually deliver within 7 working days. Widths vary between 4 and 5m, but are stated in the product information panel for each range. Samples of all broadlooms are available on request.

We can supply all broadlooms as made to measure rugs and runners. We can border these in a wide variety of leather, suede, cotton or linen (see page 16) or sculpt in borders or designs as shown on page 13.

Colour MatchingJacaranda can colour match the Himalayan rugs on pages 8-12.

We can also colour match the Heavy Velvets on page 31 for orders over 50m2. Colours can be matched to the swatches within Jacaranda’s Colour Book or to fabrics, paint samples or pantones. There is a small ‘matching charge’ so that Jacaranda can provide colour swatches for customer approval. Jacaranda will quote on price and production lead time for each individual order.

DeliveryJacaranda’s standard delivery times within mainland Britain are:

• 3-5 working days for stock rugs

• 7 working days for broadloom

• An average of 10-12 weeks for bespoke rugs depending on the range. Jacaranda will quote lead times at the point of order.

All standard deliveries must be to a business address with good access for HGV’s. For broadloom deliveries, the driver will require help with unloading and delivery is to the ground floor access point only.

Prices and times for ‘express’ deliveries are available on request.

InspectionOur labour intensive processes are integral to the creation of our ‘characterful’ textures and wonderful natural colours. They cannot and do not set out to mirror the uniformity of a ‘machine made’ carpet. Any slight variations in colour and weave in our carpets and rugs, are part of their ‘handmade character’ rather than ‘faults’.

At Jacaranda we take quality control very seriously and each roll or rug is checked and rechecked. Despite our best efforts however the odd genuine error does slip through and strange things can happen in transit. Do please ensure that all products are checked and any problems reported within 48 hours of delivery and before fitting.

FittingUse good quality solid underlay. For areas under 25m2, stretch onto double grippers. For areas over 25m2, carpet should be secured by the double stick method.

Stock ReservationJacaranda are happy to reserve stock for 48 hours.

Colour VariationsAs with all natural products, colours may vary slightly between production batches. Please state at time of order where carpet cuts are to adjoin, so ensuring that those cuts are supplied from the same colour batch. The colour of samples may also change over time especially if exposed to strong sunlight. If an exact colour match is essential, please reserve stock and ask Jacaranda to send a cutting from that batch, we will be happy to oblige.

Care & MaintenanceClean carpets regularly with a cylinder type vacuum. Dry spillages quickly with absorbent paper. Remove potential stains by adding cold water and dabbing dry. Do not rub.

If using dry extraction cleaning methods, please test on small area first as some treatments are kinder than others.

Jacaranda’s Himalayan Hand-Woven Rugs are knotted by hand in Nepal’s beautiful capital city - Kathmandu.

Each is individually created the Tibetan way, by a family owned company which draws on generations of rug making expertise brought with them from Tibet. Both they and Jacaranda are Goodweave registered, as a guarantee of ethical production practices.

This range really does offer you the customer, the opportunity to be as creative as you wish. To really make the most of it, you will need the Jacaranda Himalayan Folder and a Colour Book (pictured below). Here’s how:

Design If you like one of the designs shown on pages 9 to 12, you can ask us to reproduce it to whatever size you wish. You can ask us to change the design slightly, by copying and marking up the ‘plans’ printed alongside each rug photograph. If you send us drawings of completely new and unique designs, we will reply with CAD drawings. There is a small charge for providing colour poms and woven rug segment samples for customer approval.

ColourChoose colours from these pages, or from the wool and silk swatches in Jacaranda’s Colour Book. These can be applied to your own design or mixed and matched to existing designs by copying and marking up the ‘plans’ printed alongside each rug photograph. The numbers on these plans indicate the number and position of colours in each design. For a small ‘matching’ charge, we can colour match to fabrics, paint samples and pantones; supplying colour ‘poms’ for customer approval.

FibreRugs are knotted from pure Chinese silk and from fine quality wool from the highest plateaux of Tibet. The high lanolin content of this wool increases the lustre of these rugs as they age. You can choose a variety of wool/silk mixes from the samples in our Himalayan Folder. Pure silk motifs woven against pure wool backgrounds are particularly effective and these motifs can be sheared flush with their background, or left ‘high/low’ as shown in our Daisy design (page 12).

TextureChoose either the velvet or the cut/loop option from our Himalayan folder. Choose from 60, 100 or 120 knots per square inch. As the number of knots per square inch rises, the texture becomes finer and the life expectancy of the rug increases, but so too does the cost and the length of time needed to make it.
