It’s going to be a great year for Colorado State University—and as a Rams fan, I’m fully convinced Ram athletics is on a very strong trajectory to success.

A healthy, competitive athletics programs is driven by student athletes who embody the high personal standards, strong character, and commitment to excellence that are characteristic of a great University. At CSU, we expect that our athletes have a commitment to teamwork and success that’s fully matched by their commitment to individual achievement in the classroom and to serving as a positive role model on campus and in the community. And every year, our Ram athletes meet and exceed this expectation.

Their success is important for our entire campus community. We all work hard and take life seriously--when the Rams score, it gives us a reason to celebrate and show off our unabashed pride in all things green and gold. The success of our sports teams also helps draw attention to the University as a whole and, because we run a clean and well-grounded program, it spotlights the importance we place on key civic values like responsibility, integrity, and fair play.

While we have high standards for our student-athletes in the classroom and on the field, we also believe it is the University’s responsibility to provide them—and all our students-with the tools they need to compete and succeed at the highest levels. That is why we’ve been investing in upgraded classroom buildings and residence halls these last few years, and why we’ve also completed a new practice facility and state-of-the-art Academic and Training Center, which offers student-athletes quality weight-train-ing facilities paired with study environments, computer labs, and academic support needed to help them balance the demands of coursework and competition.

Like our fans, we have high expectations for our athletics programs, and we’re confi-dent in the leadership of our coaches and Athletic Director Paul Kowalczyk, who work to keep our programs competitive, transparent, and high-quality. Colorado State is extremely fortunate to have an intensely loyal fan base, and success on the court or on the field is a great reward to our supporters. 5Colorado State University takes very seriously its role in educating student-

athletes. Excellence is expected on the field and in the classroom.

The most recent NCAA academic statistics reveal that Colorado State leads the Moun-

tain West Conference in graduation rate for student-athletes at 66 percent – well ahead

of the conference’s overall student-athlete graduation rate of 57 percent. In football,

Colorado State is second in the MWC, graduating 68 percent of its student-athletes –

again, well ahead of the conference average of 49 percent.

Colorado State, however, is not resting on its reputation for graduating its student-

athletes. The state-of-the-art Anderson Academic Center, which will greatly enhance

the academic facilities available for student-athletes, opened in August 2009.

While the athletic department takes its role in the educational process very seriously,

Colorado State’s mission to provide a world-class education is at the core of academic

success. U.S. News and World Report ranked Colorado State in its top tier in its an-

nual “America’s Best Colleges” report. The university offers 79 majors and 27 minors,

and many of its programs are ranked among the best in the country.

Colorado State continues to push forward in its mission to provide the best possible

education. Construction recently was completed on the state-of-the-art University

Center for the Arts and Computer Science buildings, along with the indoor practice

facility, academic and training center, and the Rockwell Hall expansion at the College

of Business.

• CSU’s Veterinary Medicine program ranks second in the country and is the

national leader in federal research dollars.

• BusinessWeek ranked CSU’s undergraduate College of Business program 67th (up

from 73rd in 2008). The program ranks 30th among all public schools and 14th

among all colleges and universities in the West and Southwest. The marketing and

business law programs were ranked in the nation’s Top 10 by the magazine.

• In December 2008, CSU conferred its 150,000th bachelor’s degree and 200,000th

overall degree.

• According to NCAA statistics, CSU’s graduation rate for student-athletes is higher

than the graduation rate for the overall student body.

One of Colorado’s most vibrant cities, Fort Collins is the best place in the

country to live, work and play. Located on the northern Front Range of the

majestic Rocky Mountains, the city is within an hour’s drive of Denver, the

nation’s 25th-largest metro area.

This city of 137,200 residents basks in 300 days of sunshine per year — more

than San Diego and Florida — and includes the historic Old Town district with its

restaurants, shops, and entertainment, all within walking distance of Colorado State

University’s campus.

Since its founding as a military fort in 1864, Fort Collins has anchored northern

Director of Athletics Paul Kowalczyk has placed Colorado State’s pro-gram on an ambitious path toward national prominence with his in-sightful and visionary leadership.

Kowalczyk is in his fifth year leading CSU’s program, demonstrating an unmistakable commitment to the university after signing in 2010 a five-year contract extension, through 2015. From the moment he

arrived on campus in 2006, he has shown a leadership style that is steady and consistent with ambitious goals clearly established. Under his watchful eye, a foundation has been built to cul-tivate long-term success throughout the program. With the foundation firmly in place, Colorado State’s program stands on the threshold of taking a bold step forward nationally to reach “stretch goals” established by the Board of Governors when Kowalczyk arrived.

Perhaps nothing better illustrates the progress toward prominence that CSU’s program has made during Kowalczyk’s tenure than the changing skyline surrounding Moby Arena and the McGraw Athletic Center, both of which serve as centerpieces of the athletics department.

During the summer of 2009, CSU opened two state-of-the-art athletics facilities that are visually prominent to any avid Rams fan upon arriving on campus.

A training facility includes an indoor football practice field plus basketball and volleyball practice courts, adjacent to Moby Arena. Also, a new academic and strength and conditioning center is next to the McGraw Athletic Center.

Over the last year-plus, Kowalczyk also has stewarded significant upgrades to Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium, including a $2.5 million landscaping initiative following the 2010 sea-son that will make the venue’s grounds at the base of the Rocky Mountain foothills even more attractive. Additionally in the last two years, Kowalczyk oversaw improvements to several CSU team locker rooms, and this fall, has spearheaded a $1 million project that will furnish Moby Arena with new state-of-the-art video boards.

The two new facilities, along with upgrades to CSU’s stadium, arena and McGraw Athletic Center offices, make CSU’s resources among the finest in the nation. Those additions and improve-ments also have made CSU competitive nationally while enhancing the institution’s image across a broad spectrum. The facilities represent one of Kowalczyk’s primary goals when he was appointed to his position at CSU. Almost immediately upon his arrival, he worked closely

with campus leaders to develop the facilities initiative.

“These buildings show that Colorado State is unmistakably serious about achieving its stretch goals,” Kowalczyk said. “Combined with the recent renovations at our football stadium, this puts us where we need to be in terms of offering quality, state-of-the-art facilities for our coaches and student-athletes, those who are here now and those who are thinking about coming here.”

The facilities, along with recent contracts he negotiated with Russell Athletic (apparel and uni-forms), Under Armour (footwear), and a deal with the University of Colorado to keep the Rocky Mountain Showdown at Invesco Field for the long-term future, also reflect Kowalczyk’s commit-ment to excellence throughout the program.

“Average is simply not good enough,” he said. “We must con-tinually find ways to improve every aspect of our program while meeting the needs of our student-athletes and providing resources for our coaches -- not just to compete, but to win, and do it while serving the university, the community and the region.”

Soon after Kowalczyk’s arrival in Fort Collins, he worked closely with the Board of Governors of the Colorado State University System and the university leadership to set in place a set of “stretch goals.” “The support of the board and campus admin-istration, which was there every step of the way, was critical,” Kowalczyk said. “We have leadership on this campus that not only recognizes the importance of investing in athletics, but also what a successful athletics department can do for the uni-versity.”

Colorado State’s stretch goals include:• Achieve a No. 1 ranking in the Director’s Cup, a ranking sys-tem that reflects overall program success; • Annual Bowl Championship Series inclusion; • NCAA men’s and women’s basketball tournament participa-tion.

While the entire program under Kowalczyk’s guidance has moved forward with the completion of the facilities, he readily admits there are more challenges that lie ahead.

“We will never stand still. We will continue to move forward. As a program, we will strive for excellence in every area, just as we challenge our student-athletes in competition and in the classroom.

“Our efforts will always include continually and diligently work-ing to expand our ticket and Ram Club donor base as a means to generate additional revenue and scholarship fund support.”

Colorado State’s expected emergence nationally has provided followers of the program optimism and excitement.

Kowalczyk brought a wealth of experience and knowledge to Fort Collins when he was named the school’s 16th Director of Athletics on April 11, 2006, after having served for six success-ful years in the same capacity at Southern Illinois University.

In the spring of 2008, he was named to the prestigious NCAA Division I Leadership Council, an advisory body to the Division I Board of Directors. The council identifies issues important to the future of Division I and offers its expertise in defining ap-propriate action items. Reappointed in June 2010, his current term expires in 2014.

Kowalczyk also remains involved in NCAA, NACDA and MWC activities.

During his tenure at SIU, he led the Salukis’ emergence into a successful, nationally renowned athletics program, including 15 conference championships in seven sport programs.

Before his tenures at CSU and SIU, he was senior administrator at Northwestern University during a time in which the Wildcats program enjoyed national success. He also served as assistant athletics director for business operations at Kansas State, busi-ness manager for athletics at Portland State, and assistant to the associate athletics director at Kent State.

Kowalczyk holds a master’s degree in sports administration and a bachelor’s of business administration in accounting from Kent State University.

A native of Warren Ohio, Kowalczyk was inducted into the War-ren High School Distinguished Hall of Fame. The award recog-nizes and honors individuals for their achievements and perfor-mance. In 2004, he received the National Football Foundation’s Gen. Robert R. Neyland Outstanding A.D. Award, and in 2006 was named the Athletic Director of the Year for the Division I-AA Central Division. Kowalczyk in 2010 concluded a four-year term on the NACDA Executive Council, representing District 7.

He is married to Peg Lynch Kowalczyk.

Head Coach | 12th Year at CSU | Central College, 1986

JAMie BerMel

Colorado State Head Coach Jamie Bermel has earned a reputation as one of the nation’s premier college golf coaches.

Now entering his 12th year at Colorado State, Bermel has guided the Rams to 10 NCAA appearances since his arrival in Fort Collins. In 2008, he led the Rams to their first Mountain West title, which they would re-claim under Bermel in 2010.

Coach Bermel has helped develop the Colorado State program into one of national prominence. Since joining the Rams, Bermel’s squads have com-piled 145 team top-10 finishes. He helped guide the team to unprecedented success in the 2003-04 season and was named 2004 Mountain West Conference Coach of the Year, an honor he also earned after the 2007-08 and 2009-10 seasons. Under the guidance of Bermel, the Rams have won 21 team titles.

Last season alone Bermel’s squad added 10 top-10 team finishes and a school record five first-place finishes. The team claimed titles at the inaugural Colorado Cup, the Gene Miranda Invitational, the Del Walker Intercollegiate, the Cougar Classic and the 2010 MWC championship. Ryan Peterson garnered individual honors at the MWC championship.

Bermel came to Colorado State after having served as the head coach at Iowa State, where he led the Cyclones to the NCAA regionals in 1999. During two seasons in Ames, ISU won two tournaments and had nine top-five finishes.

Prior to coaching at ISU, Bermel spent five years as the head coach at Drake. There, he led the Bull-dogs to NCAA appearances in 1996 and `97, including a 23rd-place finish in the `97 tournament. In that same year, the team won the Missouri Valley Conference title.

In his years as a collegiate coach, Bermel has helped develop the games of a number of players that have moved on to the next level. Three of Bermel’s former players are currently on tour, including 2007 Masters champion Zach Johnson, who competed for Bermel at Drake. Jason Knutzon played under Bermel at Iowa State and currently plays on the Asian Tour. Martin Laird, a former CSU stand-out who played under Bermel from 2000-04, competed on the Nationwide Tour in 2005 and 2007 and is currently playing on the PGA Tour.

Bermel is a 1986 graduate of Central College in Pella, Iowa, and received a master’s degree from Purdue University in 1988.

VAn DeWArAssistant Coach

Van DeWar enters his third year as a volunteer assistant coach with the CSU men’s golf progarm. Originally from Fairmont, Minn., DeWar attended Saint Cloud State College, where he competed on

the golf team. Dewar went on to work as a director of the Minneso-ta Golf Association, where he worked with the junior golf program. DeWar played on the Minnesota Amateur Golf Circuit and accumulated nine club championships. He moved to the Fort Collins area 21 years ago and became a supporter of CSU athletics, and became especially active with men’s golf as a member of the Ram Masters booster club. DeWar retired in 2007 and became a CSU volunteer assistant golf coach.

ToUr TrADiTionThroughout his career, Colorado State Head Coach Jamie Bermel has mentored many outstanding golfers that have gone on to enjoy success in the professional ranks, including three players still playing on professional tours.

Martin LairdUnder the tutelage of Bermel, former Rams standout Martin Laird rewrote the Colorado State record book dur-ing his time in Fort Collins from 2000-04. As a senior, Laird led the CSU team to a school-record five tourna-ment titles and also turned in one of the top individual seasons in school history. He recorded 10 top-10 fin-ishes that year. A three-time all-Mountain West Conference performer, Laird owns the CSU records for career top-10 finishes (23) and career rounds played (156). Laird was a two-time All-America performer (2003 and 2004) and joined the pro ranks upon graduation. (Cont.)

Brad Ott enters his eighth year as an assistant with the CSU men’s golf program. Ott is the president of Rebound Sports and Physical Therapy with private clinics in Fort Collins and Loveland. He graduated from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, and obtained his master’s de-gree in physical therapy from Washington University School of Medi-cine in St. Louis, Mo., in 1990. For the past 13 years he has owned private practices offering out-patient physical therapy, sport-specific rehab, and golf-performance enhancement. His initial training in golf-specific fitness was with Paul Callaway, the PGA Tour’s first director of physical therapy and golf fitness. Ott works with golfers of all ages and abilities, including top-level amateurs, professionals on mini-tours, the Nationwide Tour and PGA Tour.

ToUr TrADiTion (COnTInUED)Laird began his career on the Nationwide Tour in 2005, and in 2007 he gained full status and was named one of the world’s top 50 golfers under the age of 25 by ESPN.com. He achieved his first Nationwide Tour victory in 2007 at the Athens Regional Foundation Classic.

Laird earned his PGA Tour card in 2007 after a 13th-place finish on the Nationwide Tour’s money list. He played on the PGA Tour in 2008, when he finished in the top 125 on the PGA Tour money list and competed on tour again in 2009 and ‘10.

Zach JohnsonWhile the head coach at Drake University, Bermel mentored 2007 Masters champion Zach Johnson. Johnson turned pro in 1998 and is currently a member of the PGA Tour. Jason KnutzonDuring two seasons at the helm of the men’s golf program at Iowa State, Bermel also worked with

Jason Knutzon, who has gone on to make a name for himself on the Asian Tour. Knutzon turned pro in 1999 and made his debut on the Asian Tour in 2003. He has achieved two Asian Tour victories, including the 2007 Motorola International Bintan in Indonesia. In 2003, Knutzon also appeared in the U.S. Open Championshp.

Colorado Cup, aug. 30The Rams took home the inaugural Colorado Cup, edging the Colorado Buffaloes 6-4. In the morning, CSU won two of three four-ball matches. After dropping the first three singles matches, the Rams rallied to take the next four and the cup. It came down to the last match, when Arp sunk a 15-foot putt to secure the title for the Rams.

Topy Cup, SepT. 8-10CSU made a strong showing in its first trip to Japan. Finish-ing with a 5-under-par round, the Rams posted an 864 to finish in third place against three of the top American pro-grams and eight of the best Japanese teams. Brown started the season off with a tie for third with his 3-under-par show-ing. One stroke behind, Arp finished in the top five as well. Morris and Hanstad placed 12th and 20th respectively to notch their first top 20 outings of the season. Washington claimed the team title while Yoshinori Fujimoto of Tohoku Fukushi University took individual honors.

gene Miranda FalCon inviTaTional, SepT. 19-20The Rams battled harsh winds and came back from eight strokes down on the final day of the tournament to success-fully defend their 2008 title and claim their first tournament win of the year. CSU finished 9-under par, due largely to the play of Zahkai Brown, who finished 5-under-par for a share of third place. The Rams fought off conference opponents Utah, UNLV, Wyoming and host Air Force for the title. Steve Binde of Nothern Colorado took home individual honors.

golFWeek previeW, SepT. 27-28Colorado State struggled with winds and a difficult course among the cometitive field at the Ping/GolfWeek Invita-tional. The Rams finished 13th out of 15 and failed to place a golfer in the top 40. Morris led the Rams by shooting a 13-over-par 229 for a share of 41st place. Hanstad and Mc-Namara were one stroke behind, tying for 43rd. Oklahoma State won the tournament and took the top three spots on the individual board.

2009-10 SeaSon RecaPaliSTer MaCkenzie inviTaTional, oCT. 12-13Cut short by rain, the Rams were unable to pull off any final-round comebacks, and finished in a tie with New Mexico for ninth place out of 15 teams with an even-par score of 568. Riley Arp finished five strokes behind individual medalist Stephen Hale of Cal-Berkley for a share of eighth place. Cal claimed the team title by carding a 23-under-par two-round total of 545.

del Walker inTerCollegiaTe, oCT. 22-23The Rams finished their fall season on an upswing in Long Beach, Calif., winning their third Del Walker Intercollegiate team title in as many years. CSU finished 20 under-par with a 1030. Michael Drake of Long Beach State shot a 199 to claim individual honors. Arp tied for second. Hanstad and Morris also notched top-10 appearances, claiming sixth and 10th, respectively. Brown recovered from a slow start to earn his third top-20 showing of the fall with a 17th-place finish.

pvCC dual, Feb. 6Riley Arp turned in a low score of 68 at the Stonecreek Golf Club to lead the Rams in a 280-292 victory over Paradise Valley Community College. The dual was scheduled to make up for the day lost to rain at the Alister Mackenzie Invitational in October.

baTTle aT The beaCh, Feb 14-16CSU finished seventh in the field of 14 teams, amid some of the toughest competition it faced all year. Led by junior Ryan Peterson, CSU shot a team total of 1076. Peterson finished the tournament with a 207, his career-low at the collegiate level. He finished in a tie for sixth place among individuals, also a personal best. Claiming the top spot was host No. 15 UCLA with a 10-under-par, three-round total. Individual honors were shared by David Lingmerth of Arkansas and Chris Williams of Washington.

niT, MarCh 17-18Capping the tournament with a final round of 71, which included an eagle on Hole 2, Bryce Hanstad tied for second place at the National Invitational Tournament. Hanstad led the Rams, who finished in sixth place at the NIT with a 9-over-par 873 team total. CSU moved up from eighth place in the final round of play by shooting 5-under-par.

CallaWay CollegiaTe MaTCh play, MarCh 21-23CSU upset defending national champion Texas A&M to claim third in the 2010 Callaway Collegiate Match Play Champion-ship. The win came on a par by Dustin Morris in a 3-hole playoff. The Rams defeated Iowa and favored UCLA on their way to the semifinals, where they fell to USC on the final hole of the match to play the No. 4 Aggies for third. Morris swept the tournament, winning all four of his individual matches.

Thunderbird inviTaTional, april 2-3Zahkai Brown turned in his first sub-70 round during tour-nament play of 2010, carding a 67 in the final round for a total of 211. He led the Rams in 16th place. CSU struggled on Day 1, going 13-over-par in the opening two rounds, but was able to surge back in the final round. The Rams delivered an 8-under-par round to bring themselves up to 11th in the highly competitive 16-team field. J.J. Spaun of San Diego State claimed individual honors and Washington took home the team title.

Cougar ClaSSiC, april 23-24In their last action before postseason play, the Colorado State Rams turned in a round of 7-under-par to stave off the BYU Cougars by two strokes and claim their third team title of the 2009-10 season.

MWC ChaMpionShipS, May 6-8For the second time in three years, the Colorado State men’s golf team claimed the Mountain West Conference champion-ship. Ryan Peterson, who claimed medalist honors, led the Rams to the title. He became the first Ram to claim the title since Martin Laird in 2002. Bryce Hanstad, Riley Arp and Dustin Morris also placed in the top 10.

nCaa WeST regional, May 20-22Colorado State came up short at the NCAA regional, placing eighth, four strokes short of advancing to the championship. Washington (844) took away the first-place title, 29 strokes ahead of second-place USC (873). Hanstad and Morris each shot a three-round score of 215, tying for eighth place in-dividually. Zahkai Brown shot a 77 on the final day and fin-ished 43rd with a 224. Ryan Peterson improved his score by eight strokes on the final day by shooting a 72, and finished tied for 64th with a 231.

Led by senior conference champion Ryan Peterson and junior Zahkai Brown, Head Coach Jamie Bermel’s men’s golf team looks to continue its prominence on the golf course throughout the 2010-11 season.

The Rams face a string of title defenses this season. They begin by looking to defend the Colorado Cup in a Ryder Cup-style dual against rival CU. Then the team will head into Colorado Springs to try to claim its fourth Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational in as many years. Later in the season, CSU will also defend its titles at the Cougar Classic in Provo, Utah, and Mountain West Conference championship in Tucson, Ariz.

As it continues to gain national recognition, Colorado State receives invitations to some of the nation’s top tournaments. In October, CSU tees off in the Brickyard Collegiate Golf Championship in Macon, Ga. This event hosts several of last season’s conference champions and the reigning national champion, Au-gusta State. Following the Brickyard, the Rams will get another shot at the Alister Mackenzie Invitational in Berkeley, Calif., one of the nation’s premier events.

This season the Rams will seek their 15th NCAA regional appearance in 16 years and look to make an appearance at the NCAA championships after missing out on the cut by only a few strokes the last two seasons.

No doubt the Rams men’s golf team is riding a wave of success the past 10 years with All-American golfers, conference cham-pionships, double-digit tournament wins, and multiple NCAA regional bids. With success has come invitations to some of the premier collegiate tournaments across the nation.

In addition to Peterson (Eagan, Minn.) and Brown (Arvada, Colo.), the team this year rounds out with returning juniors Kirby Pettitt (Carroll, Iowa), Kory Harrell (Colorado Springs, Colo.), and sophomore Luke Thacker (Southlake, Texas). Add freshman Jackson Giro of Fort Collins, Richard Schneider of Beemer, Neb., Steve Sorenson of Hartland, Wis., and sopho-more transfer Scott Newton from Carrollton, Texas, and CSU has the young talent to continue to bring the Rams national ranking and recognition.

nCAA ProMinenCe

Colorado State has made 14 postseason NCAA appearances - only missing the cut once in the last 15 years. In 2010, The Rams finished in eighth at the NCAA West Regional, just four strokes away from ad-vancing to the NCAA finals. Then-seniors Dustin Morris and Bryace Hanstad tied for eighth among individuals at the regional.

Zahkai Brown will be looking to make his third NCAA regional appearance in as many years this season.

HArMony GolF ClUB

The CSU men’s golf team added an exciting element in 2007-08 with a state-of-the-art indoor practice facility.

Recognized as one of the top golf facilities in the country in the Sept. 6, 2008, issue of Golfweek, the new Harmony Center, located in Timnath, Colo., is a 2,600-square-foot complex. It includes three hitting bays that can be opened to hit onto the driving range or closed to hit into a net. The facility is also equipped with an indoor putting green, coaches’ offices and luxury locker rooms.

The facility is surrounded by a private short-game practice area com-plete with two greens, bunkers, and plenty of chipping and pitching areas. Harmony Golf Club also features an 18-hole golf course designed by CSU alumus Jim Engh.

Engh and Byron Collins, a fellow alumus and owner of the club, were instrumental in the creation of this million-dollar facility.

enDoWMenTSBart Tompkins

Memorial ScholarshipBart Tompkins lost his life in the fall of 1999 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Many of Bart’s friends expressed a desire to recognize Bart in some special way.

After talking with several family members, it was decided to establish an endowed golf scholarship in Bart’s name at Colorado State University, Bart’s alma mater. This recognizes Bart’s deep love for the game of golf, as well as his interest in helping young golfers.

The 2010-11 recipient of the Bart Tompkins Memorial Scholarship is Zahkai Brown. Pictured is the 2009-10 recipient, Luke Thacker.

Chet Smith Memorial Scholarship

Chet Smith was a true friend to Colorado State University and the entire athletic department. A generous and charitable person to a variety of entities in Fort Collins, Chet’s passion was golf. An avid golfer and part of the original founders of the Ram Masters, Chet also sought to provide his time, talents, and financial assistance to the program.

Chet’s close friend, Jim Smith, began the scholarship endowment with an initial contribution of $25,000. It is the dream and the goal of Jim as well as Chet’s family that the fund will continue to grow and at some time in the near future, reach full endowment.

Spike Baker Scholarship

Spike Baker attended Colorado State in the late 1940s. He competed on the first ever CSU golf team. He was an outstanding player and won numerous tourna-ments throughout his career. He was a standout amateur golfer as well. He is the only CSU alumnus to be inducted into the Golf Hall of Fame.

The endowment for the scholarship is $25,000. Colorado State allows the golf team to spend four percent of the scholarship endowment each year.

Dr. James e. Horstman Memorial Scholarship

Jim Horstman’s life was well lived. He was an inspiration and a role model for all of us. His love of the outdoors and athletics, in particular golf, has moved us to honor him by establishing a permanently endowed golf scholarship in his name at Colorado State University. This scholarship will be awarded annually to a member of the Colorado State golf team.

ScholarshipJames “Jim” Smith started his scholarship to help the Colorado State men’s golf or football programs. The past few years Jim has selected a male golfer from the business school that is a major contributor to the golf team.

Although Jim played football at Colorado State, he is an avid golfer and very active on the Ram Masters board and Ram Masters organization. Jim can be seen every year on the road supporting the team.

The Colorado State University Ram Masters Program was initiated during the 1994-95 golf season. Ram Masters provides financial support to the men’s golf team. The individuals involved in Ram Masters play a vital role in Colorado State’s current and future success. There are three levels of membership: Par, Birdie and Eagle.
