Tip-off between the Wolves and Pantehrs is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon from Panella Court on the campus of Cardinal Stritch University.

overall record of 17-12 and are currently tied for first place in the CCAC with a conference record of 10-3. Recently, the Wolves have been using a total team effort to win games, but senior Brandon D’Amico (Geneva, Ill.) continues to lead the offense with his 457 total points. Meanwhile junior Navjot Singh (Mundelein, Ill.) has contributed to the cause with 399 points of his own. Singh has also been a major defensive presence as he leads the team with 181 rebounds on the year. He is also tied for first on the team with 43 total steals this season. Last Time Out... Hosting the Trinity International University Trojans, the Wolves used a steady and concise plan of attack to eventually pull away from the pesky Trojans for a 12-point victory at 74-62. Senior Pat Barron (Mundelein, Ill.) had a strong night for Stritch as he netted a game-high 18 points.

Making it Five in a Row... With Wednesday night’s win over the Trojans, the Wolves continue to stretch their longest winning streak of the season. Having won five straight games, Stritch has tallied wins over Judson University, Purdue University Calumet, the University of St. Francis, Holy Cross College, and TIU.

It’s Senior Day... When tip-off starts on Saturday afternoon, the Wolves will have six seniors that will be seeing their final regular season competition. This year’s seniors include players Pat Barron, Brandon D’Amico, Ian Dobbe (Shawano, Wis.), Chris Ma-yeaux (Portland, Ore.), Levette Nash (Milwaukee, Wis.), and team manager Ben Czarny. The Stritch Wolves would like to thank them for all they have done while being a part of the men’s basketball program at Cardinal Stritch University!

Don’t Mistake Him for the Red Barron... When senior Pat Barron takes to the court for the his last regu-lar season game with the Wolves, he’ll be doing so after having a steady career for Stritch. In four season, Barron was twice named CCAC All-Conference Honorable Mention and once CCAC All-Academic. Currently with 971 points, Barron also sits just 29 points shy of 1,000 for his career. The Sharp-Shooter Named D’Amico... Brandon D’Amico has made a name for himself as one of the CCAC’s most dangerous shooters in his four seasons with Stritch. Coming off a season in which he scored a career-high 561 total points, D’Amico sits with 1,550 career points and has been named All-Conference twice and All-Academic once. Where There’s Effort, There’s Dobbe... Senior Ian Dobbe may not be one of the flashier players out on

Head Coach Drew Diener

Cardinal Stritch University Wolves men’s basket-ball head coach Drew Diener enters this season as his second year as the head coach of the Wolves. Diener was named the seventh head coach in Car-dinal Stritch University Wolves men’s basketball history back in 2009.

In Diener’s first season at the helm, the Wolves continued their winning tradition on the court as the Wolves finished 27-6 in the 2009-10 season. Under his guidance, Stritch won the 2009-10 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Regular Season Championship after going 12-0 in conference play. It was the eighth time in program history the team won the conference championship.

For his efforts as coach of the Wolves, Diener garnered the 2009-10 CCAC Coach of the Year award.

The Wolves’ head coach came to Stritch after having served as an assistant coach at the University of Virginia where he coached under Dave Leitao for the past two seasons. Prior to coming to the bench as an assistant, he was the Cavaliers’ director of men’s bas-ketball operations for two seasons after leaving DePaul University where he held the same post as a graduate assistant for the Blue Demons program.

Before entering the college ranks as a coach, Diener was an as-sistant coach at Northridge Prep in Niles, Ill for a season. While there, Diener also served as the Assistant Director of Athletics and assistant golf coach.

A native of Fond du Lac, Wis., Diener is a 2003 graduate of Saint Louis University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. As a member of the basketball team at Saint Louis, Diener ranked sixth on the program’s career three-point field goals made list with 124 by the time he graduated, good for a 40 percent clip from beyond the arc.

During his junior season, Diener was named the team’s Most Improved Player. Adding to that, he was also a part of a Saint Louis program that participated in one National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) Tournament and in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) twice during his time as a Billiken.

Diener formerly played at Goodrich High School in Fond du Lac where he was the 1998 Gatorade Wisconsin Player of the Year and an All-America selection by Street & Smith’s. He helped Goodrich, which was coached by his father, Dick, to four consecutive confer-ence titles and a berth in the state quarterfinals as a senior. His brother Drake and cousin Travis were teammates on the team his senior season. Diener graduated holding seven school records at Goodrich, including career points (1,505) and single-game scoring (45).

Basketball has been a way of life for Diener as he comes from one of the more notable basketball families in the state of Wisconsin. His brother Drake played at DePaul and is now playing profession-ally in Italy, while his cousin Travis played at Marquette and is now with the Indiana Pacers of the National Basketball Association. Diener’s father was a high school coach before his retirement and was inducted into the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame in October of 2007. His cousin Rachel played on the women’s basketball team at Saint Louis. Diener’s older brother Derek is a graduate of the United States Military Academy and served in the Middle East. Coach Diener, his wife Kelly, and son Everett reside in Milwaukee, Wis.

the court, but he is certainly one of the hardest workers every time he steps onto the court. A native of Shawano, Dobbe has pulled down over 431 total rebounds while scoring 703 total points in 64 career starts. Can I Get Some Mayeaux With that??? Senior Chris Mayeaux came back to the Wolves after not play-ing his junior year and has done well as a role player for Coach Diener. Seeing the most extensive playing time career, Mayeaux has appeared in 26 total games with playing in 22 this season. He’s also pulled down 24 career rebounds. A Little Bit of This, a Little Bit of Nash... Filling in as a role player for the Wolves, Levette Nash has ap-peared in 33 career games for Stritch. During that time, Nash has made the most of the amounts of playing time that come his way as he has five career assists and six career steals. Nash is also credited with being one of the more vocal players on the team as he’s always looking to keep his teammates up during the game, shaping himself into the ultimate team player.

How’s It Going to Play Out??? Mired in a three-way tie for first place in the CCAC, the Wolves find themselve atop the conference with Judson University and Trinity Christian. The tie will be broken today though as the Ea-gles and Trolls face each other. Should Judson win, the Wolves will be the No. 1 seed in the tournament. If the Trolls win, then Stritch will be seeded No. 2 in conference postseason.

Home Playoff Game... Regardless of how the Judson/Trinity Christian game plays out, if the Wolves win, they’re assured of hosting a home playoff game on Tuesday, Feb. 22. Keep an eye out on Stritchwolves.com for playoff details as they are available. Playoffs Reminder... The playoffs are around the corner for the CCAC and while seeding is still to be determined, it’s important that fans remem-ber some basic playoff entry rules. All fans, excluding students, will have to purchase game tickets as season passes will not be honored during the playoffs. Following the Wolves...Fans, don’t forget their are several ways to follow the Wolves and the men’s basketball team. You can visit the official athletic website at www.stritchwolves.com, follow them through twitter at www.twitter.com/stritchwolves, sign up for SMS alerts, and by signing up for news releases for the Wolves.
