8/7/2019 2010 Annual Report - Wings Ministry
1/4
As we close out 2010 and being
a new year, we have much to givethanks to God. We marvel at thewonderful way God has blessedWings. It has again been my privi-lege to serve another year as thePresident of the Board of Directorsof Wings Ministry. The Board repre-
sents a cross section of leadership inour community, but a common dedi-cation to God and the continual de-velopment of the ever-expandingoutreach of this great ministry. Ourmission is to provide support to theincarcerated and their families in atime of separation and anxiety.
We go into 2011 with greatconfidence and optimism, despitemany clouds of uncertainty. We gainmuch hope as we look again to the
promises of God in Joshua Chap. 1.
Joshua was on the threshold of agreat opportunity of leading the Na-tion of Israel into the Promised Landbut first God gave him some reassur-ance and encouragement. Be strong
and courageous, for you are the onewho will lead the people to possessthe land. Be strong and very coura-
geous. Do not deviate from the in-structions I have given you. Be strongand courageous. Do not be afraid ordiscouraged, for the Lord our God iswith you wherever you go.
As we are on the threshold of2011, we must appropriate thesesame promises and look forward tonew horizons that lie before us. Weask you to join with us in the high andholy calling that God has entrusted us.

2010 has been a wonderful year! We celebratedour 15th Anniversary and officially moved into our newoffice 1-1-10. Because of the office, Debbie Diaz wasable to work for us through the NM Dept. of Aging. She did such a fabulous job that we were able to hireher after her contract with NMDA ended. Dozens ofvolunteers have helped us at the office for a total of1970 hours., helping with countless tasks. We alsohave volunteers who need community service credit andcome to us from halfway houses and other agencies.
The office has been an incredible gift.
Wings for L.I.F.E. attendance more than doubled in2010 to an average of 64 people per meeting!Grant funding allowed us to meet 4 times a month andSecond Presbyterian Church and Trinity United Method-ist Church have graciously given us meeting space.
Wings celebrated our 15th Anniversary on July 16.Over 350 people helped us celebrate, including 15year supporters/mentors Dr. David Poling, Homer Gon-zales, Jim & Patsy Zanios, owners of Zanios Foods,Guideposts Magazine & VP Dr. Pablo Dias who gavethe keynote address, and many family members, friends, and long-time volunteers. Nashville songwriter
Wanda Lewis performed her song for WingsHeGave Me Wings.

Wings has hosted 12 community and prison pties. Im amazed at all the wonderful people we
been able to meet and minister to. I also say tWings is a seed planting ministry. Last year
had first-time volunteers help with the Dallas, TX Hchins State Jail Wings Party. I was told they winterested in prison ministry, but didnt know where
start and were afraid to sign up for a weekly Bistudy for fear they wouldnt like working in the pris
Instead they joined our Wings volunteer team, fel
true calling to prison ministry, and now 6 new volteers help with the Alpha Prison Ministry in Daarea prisons!
We also have had students from CNM and UNhelp us this year with service-learning classes. only have they enriched out Wings meetings,
hopefully they have learned a lot and will continuegive back to others in the future.
Wings has been able to volunteer for many comunity events in 2010homeless fairs, dental clinand several community resource fairs.
Wings Ministry has touched over 8329peoin 2010 and I thank all of our donors and voluntefor their support!
