To help prevent any heated debates about the interior climate of the LX, we divided the cabin into four individual zones, allowing those in each area to set their desired temperatures. In sand or loose gravel, the system is designed to enable a certain degree of wheel slip so a “wedge” can form under the tires, helping to decrease stopping distances by up to 30%, while also maintaining steering control.

On ice or wet asphalt, the braking system is designed to sense a potential loss of traction and help reduce the likelihood of the wheels locking up.

The LX features a total of 10 airbags7—the most in its class. This Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) includes knee airbags7 for the driver and front passenger. The front passenger’s seat is also equipped with an occupant classification system sensor designed to prevent airbag7 deployment if it determines the seat is unoccupied or if it senses a small child is in the seat. In addition, seat-mounted side airbags7 help protect the torsos of the driver, front passenger and second-row outboard passengers in certain types of severe side impacts. Roll-Sensing Curtain Airbags (RSCA)7 are also included for the driver, front passenger and occupants in the second and third rows, which can be deactivated for certain off-road conditions.
