What is a population Census‘ A population census is the total process of
collecting, compiling, evaluating, analysing and publishing or otherwise disseminating demographic, economic and social data pertaining at a specified time, to all persons in a country or in a well-delimited part of a country’

The 2010 PHC will;provide the country with up to date
demographic and socio-economic characteristics at the national, regional and district levels
give the total number and key characteristics of persons and housing types in every Ghanaian town or village;
afford the country with the opportunity of revising its electoral areas and constituencies
provide an up to date sampling frame for the country
Why the Ghana 2010 Census CONT’D provide data that can be used to track the
progress of the poverty reduction programmes and the tracking of the progress towards the achievement of the MDGs
provide data for measuring the success or otherwise of national development programmes such as the National Identification System and the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
provide results that will be a critical reference to ensure equity in the distribution of resources

Census CoverageThe 2010 PHC is a De-facto countto cover all persons and living quarters
within the borders of Ghanaincluding
all infants, children, sick as well as the mentally challenged

**Some people sleep in their stores ,kiosks, shops, etc
