Let the industry buzz begin: Sabre Defence has just upgraded threeof our top carbines with a new state-of-the-art piston system thatexperts are already calling the best in the business. This historicbreakthrough improves weapon function and reliability in dusty desertconditions, minimizing the need for cleaning due to carbon fouling.

The Sabre M4 Tactical, M5 Tactical and Competition Deluxe arenow available tted with either our exclusive piston system, or withtraditional Direct Gas Impingement (DI System).

Heres the technical story in a nutshell. The traditional DI Systemhas been used on every U.S. military M16 and M4 Carbine madeover the past ve decades. Without a doubt, it has distinguisheditself as a simple and effective design. The basic idea is to venthigh-pressure gas through a port in the barrel. This gas is channeledback to the bolt carrier, forcing it backward. As the bolt carriermoves, a cam rotates the bolt to unlock the action. Both the bolt andcarrier continue back until a recoil spring starts pushing the carrierforward. Each time this happens, the bolt strips a live round from themagazine, pushing it up into the chamber.

This approach has stood the test of time. It is elegant in its simplicity,and doesnt add much weight to a rie. But there has always beenone major drawback: until now, every DI System dumped hot gases,carbon fouling and powder residue right back into the receiver. The

resulting buildup can cause malfunctions in the eld, and dictates arigorous cleaning regimen.

Sabre Defence solves this problem denitively with a new pistonsystem. Its function is similar to the DI system, with one veryimportant difference: rather than traveling back directly into thereceiver, the hot gases instead push a piston and operating rod. It isthis rod that moves the bolt carrier. In other words, the same potentenergy still forces the bolt carrier rearward, only it now does sowithout dumping hot gases and fouling into the receiver. The gasesare vented safely forward, away from the shooter.

Our solution greatly reduces the amount of debris that canaccumulate in the receiver. It keeps the weapon cleaner, and requiresless maintenance. And it does all this with the durability youd expectfrom Sabreeach component is crafted from the highest-qualitymaterials, then treated with IonBond DLC (Diamond Like Coating).DLC is a highly advanced technology that provides an incredibly hard,corrosion-resistant surface. This means less friction, longer part lifeand simplied cleaning.

5.56 NATO / .223 RemingtonThe 5.56 NATO/.223 Remington is one of the most popular rie cartridges in the world.It has proven itself as a military cartridge for nearly 50 years, and is also wildly popularwith hunters. Prized for its at shooting, with excellent accuracy and good terminal ballistics.

We offer nearly all of our ries with a true mil-spec 5.56 NATO chamber. The only exceptions:the Heavy Bench Target Rie and Precision Marksman Rie with the 24 heavy prole barrelare chambered in .223 Remington. The 5.56 NATO and .223 Remington cartridges share

identical dimensions, though military 5.56 ammo is typically loaded to higher pressuresand velocities than commercial equivalents. Please note that while they are generallyinterchangeable, chamber dimensions for the .223 Remington are slightly tighter thanthose of the 5.56 NATO. Use caution when ring military 5.56 NATO ammunition in a .223Remington chamber.

6.5 Grendel

The 6.5 Grendel cartridge is designed to maximize the capability of AR15-style ries. Forlong-range competition shooters, it allows the use of high ballistic coefcient 6.5 mm matchbullets. This minimizes wind-drift characteristics and improves accuracy at range. Hunters andtactical marksmen appreciate the signicant increase in terminal ballistics offered by the 6.5

compared to the 5.56 NATO cartridge. It is more than capable of taking large deer orantelope-size animals humanely. This helps explain the 6.5 Grendels growing popularity. Moreammunition manufacturers than ever before are now offering loads for the 6.5 Grendel.

.204 RugerThe .204 Ruger was developed in 2004 by Hornady Manufacturing, Inc., and Sturm, Ruger &Co., Inc. At the time of its introduction, the .204 Ruger was the highest velocity commerciallyproduced cartridge available. It is also the only one produced commercially for .20 inch/5 mmcaliber bullets. The .204 Rugers primary use is hunting small varmints, as it offers a attrajectory without a great deal of mass or kinetic energy. We offer our Heavy Bench TargetRie chambered for the .204 Ruger.

Spend any time at all up close with a Sabre barrel, and youll understand why they are inconstant demand, even by other gun makers.

Our process begins with the selection of raw materials. Sabre uses only premium Mil-Spec

Chrome-Moly Vanadium or 410 Stainless Steel alloy for our barrels. This may seem likeoverkill for our commercial weaponsafter all, this is the same steel used for our .50 caliberU.S. military machine gun barrels. But top-grade steel produces a gun that wears less, lastslonger and remains accurate long after a typical barrel has been reduced to scrap.

Because most gun manufacturers dont build weapons for the military, they arent ableto access the superior alloys we use. Even if they could, the only way to purchase suchspecialized material is by ordering full mill runs93,000 pounds at a time.

Every Sabre barrel must endure the same ISO 9001-2008 quality control regimen used forour military contracts. From its beginnings as a solid steel bar, each barrels progress is tightlycontrolled all the way through manufacturing to nal delivery. All barrels are marked with lotnumbers, tracing them to specic material certications, machinists and even machines used.Every piece is meticulously measured inside and out after each step in the process. Anything

found to be even slightly out of tolerance is cut and quickly dismissed to the scrap pile.

Is there another gun manufacturer who tracks each and every part so carefully? Do any ofthem test-re every single barrel? Is such a high level of commitment really necessary? Webelieve so. At the end of the day improved accuracy, longer life and awless performanceunder heavy use are worth the extra time and trouble.

This is why there is only one grade of Sabre barrel. A product either lives up to our exactingspecications, or it never leaves the factory.

The Sabre Etended A2 Flash HiderHow do you get the original look and balance of a military weapon while meeting the 16minimum barrel length required for civilian ownership? Our extended A2 ash hider providesa solution to this problem. It looks nearly identical to the military A2 ash hider, but is longer. Its also much higher quality than a typical A2 ash hidereach one is precision CNCmachined from solid bar stock.
