From the Governor Let us all welcome and thank the new incoming board of officers. On
this years board are: 1st, 2nd and 3rd year trustees Don Hansen, Jerry
Flores and Chad Peek, Treasurer Donnie “Coach” Rea, Prelate Brian
Bates, Sergeant at Arms Rex Gardner, Junior Governor Sean Watanabe,
Junior Past Governor Jess Gonzales, and Al Carmona Administrator.
We Appreciate the dedication, time and effort these men put forward in
support of our lodge. Let us also recognize the WOTM incoming board.
The women of our lodge are tireless and dedicated in there efforts to
support our lodge. On this years board are: Secretary/Treasurer Carol
Ann Whitley, Recorder Dee Angeles, Chaplain Jackie Luna, Junior Re-
gent Leia Vint, Junior Graduate Regent Cynthia Autrey, and Senior Re-
gent Janice Jankowski.
As Governor I look forward to working together as we have in the
past. We are the “Moose Lodge 1394” MEN and WOMEN working as a
team to support what we believe and know is a just cause “Mooseheart
and Moosehaven: in addition to our local community charities. To all our
members I thank you for your continued generosity, dedication and sup-
port. Please check the calendar and be aware of the “General Meetings”.
The general meeting is open to all members and I would greatly appreci-
ate your attendance. It will give us all a better understanding of lodge
procedures and an opportunity to voice your “positive” input.
SUPER LUAU 2011
It is my good fortune to have appointed Chad Peek as this years Luau
Chairperson. Chad as a newer member has contributed tremendously in
just a short period of time. I very much look forward to having Chad on
our board this year. Actions speak loudly and Chad has already spoken
volumes. This years Luau will no doubt go down in our lodge history as
one to be remembered, Chad will not be able to do it alone nor is he ex-
pected to. It will take a lot of volunteers to make this happen. See Chad
Peek regarding how you can be part of this years event. Chad has asked
for volunteers to help with a spring pre-clean up of the patio and sur-
rounding area.
There is also set up, decorating, serving and tearing down and cleaning
up the next day. Be a part of this years SUPER LUAU.
In closing I would like to thank you all for your support in what was a
challenging year. Having met and overcome those challenges I feel con-
fident that with your continued support the up coming year will be a
great one.
Thank you Derrick

From the Senior Regent
.Faith, Hope and Charity
Well, here we go! Our new chapter year and my first letter I
promised our editor, aka “Perry White”, I will be timely every
month. Thank you for letting me hold this position. I take being
your Senior Regent very seriously, as I hope you all take yours,
officers, chair holders and all the members whose eagerness and
participation is so needed for our chapter and lodge to be suc-
cessful.
Thank you to all for our installation. My installing team, the
new board of officers and chairman. Dee Autrey for the flowers,
Dee Angeles for the programs, the decorations. Dave, Ron and
Jim for the table setup, the chiefs, Carol (the god mother).
Lucille, sweetie you are the energizer bunny you just keep going
and going. Derrick for being the tri-tip master. Jim, I hope you
didn’t get dishpan hands from standing over the hot sink and
doing dishes for us, thank you. Brenda and Nikki for the bling
and gift bags. And all the helping hands that contributed their
time, effort and food. My cake was yummy! Thanks, Cynthia.
In attending other lodges installations, KUDO’S to Camarillo
for an outstanding show of unity. It was pointed out to me by
several people and I quote “What a powerhouse Ventura used to
be.” Are the keywords used to be? No the word is POWER-
HOUSE! I want that for us once again, don’t you? So check your
moose calendar, watch for flyers for upcoming happenings, and
show support for our lodge.
Our first Chapter Night is Wed. May 4th at 7:00 p.m.
Membership Chairman Diane Carr will present a speaker. And
following the meeting there will be refreshments and Love Gifts.
If you are on Diane’s committee, please lend a hand in starting
off our meeting with our sisterhood ready to roar!
Derrick I am looking forward to a renewed unity for
our Lodge and Chapter.
Ya Ya to the sisterhood!
Fraternally, Janice Jankowski

FLASH! FLASH! FLASH! AT LAST! Ventura was awarded the Platinum Award
for 2009-2010 year.
Why it took so long to get to us I have no idea. We should all be proud
of our accomplishment. The award is on display in the large hall. It is
rumored that only two lodges in cal/Nevada received the Platinum
Award, Platinum is the highest of the awards Thanks to all

HOW TO WRECK A GOOD MOOSE LODGE/CHAPTER
1. If the weather is bad, don’t think about going to a meeting
or Lodge function.
2. If you attend a meeting, find fault with the refreshments,
Governor, Officers, or service, but by all means, don’t help.
3. Never accept an office, it is better to sit back and criticize.
4. If you are appointed to a committee, don’t go to any of the
meetings. If you are not appointed, get mad and pout.
5. If your opinion is asked, reply that you don’t have anything
to say, but after the meeting, tell everyone how things
should be done.
6. Never volunteer to do anything, but when others do the
work, tell everyone that the Lodge is run by a Clique.
7. Don’t worry about paying your dues on time. Since all the
other members pay theirs on time, it doesn’t matter if
yours is late.
8. Don’t notify the secretary/recorder that you moved or
changed your phone number. Then gripe that you don’t
get your mail or newsletter.
9. Don’t bother with signing up new members. The ones that
do all the work will do that too.
10. And last, but not least… CRITICIZE, CRITICIZE,
CRITICIZE, BUT never, ever, under any circumstances
do ANYTHING to Help.
