¡Welcome to San Antonio!Dear ¡Adelante! Scholars and Students, Colleagues, and Friends:

Welcome to ¡Adelante!’s 2011 Leadership Institute & Recruitment Fair and to the Alamo City! ¡Adelante!’s “LeadershipInstitute” has established itself as one of the country’s premier leadership development conferences for Latino collegestudents as they near the end of their undergraduate experience. Early preparation, networking, and exposure to careeroptions have become focal points for our critical conversations and sessions during this event. Interest in this topic has grownconsiderably in recent years as students seek new ways to enhance their academic experiences and become the pipeline ofqualified candidates for Corporate America, the Federal Government, and the Non-profit Sector.

Entering its thirteenth year, the Leadership Institute is a conference held annually in San Antonio, Texas. Major funding forthis conference is provided by ¡Adelante!’s Corporate Founding Sponsor, MillerCoors. Long before it was popular,MillerCoors (formerly The Miller Brewing Company) was in the forefront of building awareness about preparing Latinocollege students early and developing programs to increase the number of college graduates. The establishment of The¡Adelante! U. S. Education Leadership Fund is just another example of how MillerCoors is committed to improving the

advancement of Latino Higher Education and the well-being of our communities. We are grateful for their guidance andsupport!

We have an exciting three days planned. There will be many “eye-opening” presentations, distinguished speakers, and theGrand Finale, our 2011 Awards Gala, featuring Famed Actor and Comedian, Mr. Paul Rodriguez. We have also built inplenty of time for you to network and make new friends, plus take in some of the best sites our great city has to offer.

The ¡Adelante! Staff, Board of Directors, Advisory Boards, and Volunteers, have put in long hours to make our 2011Leadership Institute & Recruitment Expo come to life. The list is too long to recognize everyone here, but we want to thankthe many corporate partners, individual supporters, and friends whose generous support have allowed us to plan such anambitious event.

In closing, we thank you for participating in the 2011

Leadership Institute and we hope you enjoy the next three days.

Sincerely,

Javier “Jay” L. Zambrano
