TEXAS MEDICAL AND DENTAL SCHOOLS APPLICATION SERVICE MEDICAL SCHOOL ACCEPTANCE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

EY 2012 Acceptance Process ♦ Oct 15: Non-Texas resident and special programs acceptances begin ♦ Nov 15 – Dec 31: Pre-match offer period for Texas residents ♦ Jan 10: Deadline to submit match preferences – to be entered online by 11:59 pm CST ♦ Feb 1: Match results announced and rolling admissions begin Pre-Match Offer Choices

♦ Applicants may accept offers from more than one medical school during the pre-match offer period without the risk of an offer being withdrawn by a medical school during the pre-match offer period.

♦ Applicants should accept all offers during the pre-match period.

♦ If an applicant receives more than one offer and is absolutely sure that he/she will not attend one of the schools, the applicant, out of courtesy to the school, should release the position so the school can extend the offer to another deserving applicant.

Match Preference Choices ♦ Applicants must rank all schools where they interviewed except those schools where a pre-match offer was

declined. All schools must be ranked regardless of whether or not a pre-match offer was received.

♦ If holding a pre-match offer and also interviewed at school or schools that did not extend offer: o Applicant may rank one or more of those schools higher than the pre-match offer school without

risk of losing the pre-match offer. o An applicant holding a pre-match offer who matches to a higher ranked school will automatically be

withdrawn from the pre-match offer school. They will also be withdrawn from all other lower ranked schools. The applicant will remain open to be selected by schools ranked higher than the school to which they matched.

Reminders for Students ♦ Applicants are strongly encouraged to educate themselves with the application process by reviewing the

[Application Instructions] and [Section Overview] sections on the TMDSAS website prior to beginning the application.

♦ Do not submit any supplemental materials to TMDSAS until the application has been started. Applicants should complete the [Colleges Attended] and [Letters of Evaluation] sections first to create the placeholder for the documents. Once the placeholders have been created, the documents may be sent to TMDSAS.

♦ Secondary applications should be completed at the same time as the TMDSAS application. ♦ The student must update their application for any changes to MCAT/DAT test dates. ♦ Send updated transcripts (summer, fall and next spring) throughout the application year even if an offer

has been received. ♦ Students will be able to see what documents have been received when they log into the application by

viewing the [Application Status] page. ♦ Remind students they cannot release their MCAT score to TMDSAS until they have received their score. ♦ Make sure students accurately enter their AAMC ID so that MCAT scores can be matched to the correct

student. Dental applicants should accurately enter their DENT PIN so that DAT scores can be matched properly.
