Nearly 500 studentshave signed up to be “sug-ar babies” on the datingsite SeekingArrange-ment.com, claims site cre-ator Brandon Wade.

The site matcheswealthy “daddies” withcash-strapped undergrads.

“NYU is the top schoolbecause the students havea high rent on top of tu-ition,” said Wade.

NYU tuition, on top ofroom, board and book fees, can cost a whopping$58,000 a year, and somecoeds are desperate for al-ternative ways to supportthemselves in an alreadypricey New York City, hesaid.

NYU students aren’talone in seeking “benefac-tors.” Hundreds of stu-dents from top schools likethe University of Califor-nia, Berkeley, University ofMichigan, and even Har-vard University use thesite, looking for sugar dad-dies or sugar mommas, ac-cording to Wade. He saidhe determines the numberof college students basedon those who join with.edu email addresses.

“When a sugar babygoes to a good school, shetends to boast,” he said.

“I love New York and I’lldo whatever it takes tomake it here,” advertisedone NYU sugar baby.

“I’m 23, graduated fromNYU last year and havebeen (literally) a starvingartist ever since.”

New York City is themost popular city on thesite, with Los Angeles notfar behind, said Wade.

“It’s a relationship anddating website, there’s nomoney for sex,” Wade said.“People don’t want to sitacross from a dumb blondewho can’t hold a conversa-tion.”

Overactive bladders couldbecome the next big fron-tier for Botox, the anti-wrinkle drug, later thisyear. It would significantlyboost sales of the $1.5 bil-lion-a-year product, accord-ing to Allergan Inc.’s chiefexecutive, David Pyott.

Allergan earlier onWednesday reported earn-ings growth for the second-quarter, fueled largely bysales of Botox for smooth-ing wrinkles and for a grow-ing range of medical uses.

Overactive bladder, caused by uncontrollablecontractions of the organ, causes frequent urination, urgent need to urinateand inability to controlurination.

“Current drugs foroveractive bladder justdon’t work that well,” Py-ott said in an interview,“and studies show that af-ter a year, 70 percent ofpatients don’t respond totreatment.”

Standard treatments,

pills called anticholiner-gics, including oxybutyninand GlaxoSmithKline PLC’sVesicare, are associatedwith dry mouth and cancause constipation andother side effects.

A single injection ofBotox into the bladder canprovide significant relieffor up to nine months andsignificantly improve qual-ity of life, Pyott said, par-ticularly for adults whonow need to wear diapers.REUTERS

‘The Glee Project’:‘Boot camp’ forthe big leagueNo one has been named thenext star of “Glee” just yet,but the contestants on “TheGlee Project” already feellike bona fide celebrities. On Monday night, the finalsix singers walked the redcarpet at NBCUniversal’sTelevision Critics Associa-tion party at trendy TheBazaar by Jose Andres in LosAngeles; and each of themlooked every bit a star, too.

“It was amazing,” con-testant Alex Newell gushedthe next day. “We all love toperform, but to get recog-nized for what we do andwhat we love to do is amaz-ing. I know that I loved it,and I know that everybodyloved to be on a red carpetfor the first time too.”

The downside of famevia a reality competition, however, is that only onecontestant wins the grandprize of a seven-episodeguest stint on “Glee.” Theproducers admit theprocess of whittling downthe talent pool on a weeklybasis was “excruciating.”

“Everyone is fit for theshow, which made our deci-sion even more difficult,”says mentor Zach Woodlee, who also serves as choreog-rapher/ producer on “Glee.”“We actually had to look atthis show as a trial and sortof a boot camp to get peopleSeason 3-ready. So eachweek it was who is raisingthe bar. We would sit thereand be like, who is makingthe most progress in thisweek. It’s who was ready tobe at Season 3 quality of ourcast on the scripted show.”

So is there any chancemore than one competitormight wind up walking thehalls of McKinley High?

“Ultimately that’s up to[‘Glee’ creator] Ryan Mur-phy,” mentor Robert J. Ul-rich says. “But they’re allwonderful enough to havethat chance; and as a cast-ing director, I would keepthem in mind for every-thing else that I do.”

Then therewere fiveThough CameronMitchell left the compe-tition because he wasuncomfortable with thesexual situations hemay have had toportray on “Glee,” hestill attended Tuesday’sTCA press conferenceand says he doesn’t re-gret returning home.

“To some it might seemhasty. But it wassomething that I trulyfelt in my heart,” he says.“And when you make adecision like that, I thinkit’s really hard to regretit. You just have to followwhat you believe. And Ibelieve that, you know, when a door closes, another door opens. Andit’s only going to lead togreat things.” AMBER RAY

When she’s not stirring updrama on “DesperateHousewives,” Eva Longoriais a passionate philanthro-pist for a variety of causes, including farmworkerrights. As the executiveproducer of “The Har-vest/La Cosecha,” Longoria,36, sought to raise aware-ness of child farmers andthe challenges they faceon and off the fields. Shespoke with us about her in-volvement and how youcan help the cause.

How much did you knowabout this issue before yougot involved with the film?I’ve always been a farm-worker advocate, but evenI was surprised to find outthe statistics of child farm-workers. I was floored tolearn how many childrenstill work in agriculture inthe United States, and howmany kids are unprotect-ed, uneducated and live inpoverty. I was literate ofthe community and the di-alogue, but I was very igno-rant of the amount of chil-dren still in the fields.Would you say that’s whatsurprised you the most aboutthis topic?Yeah. I was honored to beable to humanize the issue

by doing this film andtelling this story of thesekids. It’s one thing to hearstatistics all the time, butwhen you hear the story ofZulema, who was one ofthose children, suddenlythat statistic has meaningand it’s humanized.

Why were you drawn to thisparticular issue?Because I eat fruits andvegetables. You don’t haveto be a farmer to fight forfarmworker rights — it’scalled compassion. This isone issue that I heardabout early on in my ac-tivism and I thought thisaffects everybody. Were you surprised to learnthat these practices take placein America?Absolutely. America hassome of the strictest im-port/export laws, but yetwe allow [this] to happenin our own country, andit’s a little hypocritical. The laws protect the bigbusinesses because theseare not family farms any-more. These laws only givethe economic advantage tobig corporations, and bigcorporations use lobbyiststo say the cost will pass onto the consumer. There-fore, the legislation andthe policy doesn’t changebecause of these strongagro-business lobbyists, who will pass any kind ofincrease in salary or wageson to the consumer. That’snot fair.

Get involvedYou’ve introduced theCARE Act, which seeks tochange the laws for childfarmers, on Capitol Hill. What can we do to getinvolved?Call your congressper-son and try to help getthe CARE Act passed. On the smaller scale, you should always eatorganic because thepesticides that are usedin the field are in ameasurement that isfor a 150-pound male.If you’re smaller than a150-pound male, thosedoses affect you. By eat-ing organic, you’re notonly eating better foryourself — you’ll knowthat [a] child was notsprayed with a chemi-cal while picking thefood that you’re eating.

TLC’s “LA Ink” has been onhiatus for almost eightmonths and cast memberCorey Miller has been us-ing his time away fromproduction to catch upwith his loved ones andwork on his own L.A.-basedbusiness Six Feet Under, ahybrid tattoo parlor andstore which sells his art-work and designs.

“I’m really happy to beback home spending timewith my family, especiallythe kids. I bring them toschool every morning but Ijust can’t do that when I’mfilming,” Miller says. “NowI’m expanding my ownbusiness and attending tomy own clients away fromthe stress of the camera.”

While being a reality TVstar was never an easy jobfor the reluctant Miller (hefamously walked out at theend of the first half of Sea-son 4, a dramatic depar-ture which he says was to-tally unscripted), he ad-mits that being on theshow does have someperks.

“I was a little wary andguarded as I was not sure ifI could be myself on TV,”Miller remembers. “But atthe end of the day, mywork is being recognizedand it is this nationwiderecognition that makes itvery exciting.”

Director Joe Cornish on the filmthat’s winning over both critics and audiences What ‘Attack theBlock’ and ‘Star Wars’ share

A Jedi ofthe sci-fi

Since its debut at the SXSWFilm Festival in March,writer/director Joe Cor-nish’s indie sci-fi “Attack theBlock” has won a steadystream of audience awardsand rave reviews. It’s a re-ception Cornish doesn’ttake lightly. “I think thecombined power of the In-ternet and bloggers is justas powerful as any market-ing machine, I hope,” hesays. He sat down withMetro to talk about thefilm, which is set for abroader national release.

Why do you think the British

council estate continues to be

such fertile ground for film

and TV?

Those places were built in aspirit of great optimism af-ter the war. They replacedlots of slums and they wereseen as sort of futuristic, exciting, utopian housingprojects. In the years thathave passed, they’ve kind

of become symbolic of theopposite — of people whofind themselves in difficultpositions. And they’ve beenused in films, certainly, forquite downbeat, depress-ing narratives. My film wasan attempt to actually takeit back to that futuristicaesthetic. The heroes of the movie start

out as petty criminals, but you

end up sympathizing with

them.

Actually, it happens a hellof a lot in movies. I thinkit’s interesting because he’syoung, it’s possibly some-thing to do with his color,

that people react morestrongly to this characterthan they do, for instance,to Ben Affleck’s character in“The Town” that holds asubmachine gun to awoman’s head and forcesher to open a safe, and yet10 minutes later they’re ro-mancing each other in thelaunderette.Given that this is your first

feature, what did you learn

about making films?

I didn’t realize you had torewrite to budget. I wasreading that amazing “Mak-ing of ‘Star Wars’” book.Darth Vader had his ownplanet and his own space-ship, but they made thespaceship a planet to savemoney. If there’s one thingI’m learning from directorsof big-budget films, it’s thatthe problems are the same.

The politics of fearI find it utterlyunconscionable that twoagenda items that normal-ly pass as a matter ofcourse were used as pokerchips — the debt ceilingraise and the FAA authori-zation continuing resolu-tion. Though default wasnarrowly averted at greatnational cost, a crushingblow to the constructionindustry was dealt due tothe epic failureconcerning the FAA. Notonly were 4,000+ FAA em-ployees furloughed, butnumber of stop-workorders to engineering andconstruction contractors, most likely soon to be in-cluding my company’sprogram, grows daily. Themadness must stop. It can-not wait for Congress tocome back from vacation.AARON J. SAMUELSON, REGO PARK

It’s hot out there andbarbecues are overrat-ed. Stay indoors andplay video games. Every

summer, Microsoft releasesa cadre of downloadable ti-tles for their Xbox Live plat-form. We check out two ofthe five games that makeup the “Summer of Arcade.”

‘From Dust’

Publisher: UbisoftCost: $15Grade:

Ever since “Populous”graced PCs in the late 80s,titles where we role-play asGod have entertainedgamers the world over.

There’s just something coolabout guiding those simpletribal folk to enlighten-ment. Enter “From Dust,”one of the more unique Godgames on the block.

First of all, you are notomniscient. You only con-trol the land. This meansyou’ll be spending time

protecting your citizensfrom floods, fires and what-ever else plagued our sillyancestors. The game alsowisely places emphasis oncultivation. The more vege-tation you spread across amap, the more wildlife andskills your villagers acquire.Watch out, though. Later

levels are harder than in-venting the wheel.

‘Bastion’

Publisher: Warner Bros. Interactive Cost: $15Grade:

“Bastion” is very nearly theworld’s most perfect actionRPG. There are so manyweapons and items to up-grade it’ll make even themost OCD-stricken amongus jump for joy. The con-trols are tight and fluid, feeling more like a 2-D Zel-da title than your tradition-al hack-and-slash.

The game features anomnipresent narrator, whocomments on just abouteverything. The world canseem a mite claustrophobic, however. It would benefitfrom a few more branchingpaths. Still — for RPG fans, there’s no better place todrop 15 bucks.

TomMoore:Armchair consultantThe Jets’ secret weapon thisseason certainly won’t bePlaxico Burress or SantonioHolmes.

Chances are, the biggestaddition to the offense willbe sitting in his South Car-olina home for much of thisyear, watching the game ontelevision. Meet TomMoore, who will literally bethe team's armchair quar-terback — well, armchairconsultant.

For over a dozen years,Moore was the offensive co-ordinator of the high-pow-ered Colts offense — one ofthe most dynamic passingattacks in NFL history.Moore is credited with be-ing the mastermind behindquarterback Peyton Man-ning’s ability to rewrite therecord books

Moore retired at the endof last year and this past

June joined the Jets as a con-sultant to the offense.

“I’d known Rex for a longtime, having competedagainst him. I have great re-spect for him,” Moore toldMetro. “This spring, (offen-

sive line coach) [Bill] Calla-han called me and askedme if I’d be interested inconsulting. I came up for acouple days and I’m herenow.”

He’s “here now,” but thatmay not last too long.

Moore’s role with theteam is strictly as a consult-ant — and while he will bepresent during trainingcamp, he won’t be activelyengaged in game-planningon a weekly basis.

Moore sees plenty of po-tential from the offense andquarterback Mark Sanchez.

“Sanchez is special, thekid is just special,” Mooresaid. “He’s won a lot ofgame in this league the pasttwo years and he’s now real-ly starting to grow.”

Tom Moore built the offense Peyton Manning ran forhis entire career with the Colts.

Playoff aspirations candissipate in the swelteringAugust humidity. Evenfor a team on the playoffperiphery.

It is why Terry Collinsfelt compelled to speak tohis team after Tuesdaynight’s 4-3 loss to divisionrival Florida in which

Justin Turner’s mentaland physical error in theninth inning allowedthe Marlins to scoretwo runs. Floridahas won the firsttwo games of theseries and the Metsare back at .500 (55-55).

“They have to know Icare. This isn’t a joke. These games count. Win-ning is what we’re sup-posed to do,” Collins saidbefore last night’s series

finale. “These guys takethis stuff personally. They

have to. This is whothey are. They’re

frustrated, especial-ly when they costthe team a win. They like each oth-

Opinion

JASON [email protected]

According to police, Walkerattempted to eat marijuana. Seriously? Yes. The arrest-ing officers said Walkerhad about 10 grams of dope

on him, along with some prescriptiondrugs and eight bottles of liquidsteroids. There was no detaileddescription of what happenedwhen Walker tried to devour thebuds.

But wouldn’t you love to see atime lapse video of the next fewhours of Walker in a jail cell, justin case he got high. That soundslike something straight out of,“Super Troopers II,” which is dueout later this year.

Walker, for the record, was se-lected four spots ahead of KobeBryant in the 1996 NBA draft.

Twitter is dangerousWe recently alerted you to the budding ro-mance of tennis star Caroline Wozniacki and

golfer Rory McIlroy.Well, there’s been a de-velopment — sort of.

The two have beenjoking pretty publiclyon Twitter. She asks ifhe needs a tenniscoach; he “might knowsomeone” who couldhelp — and I foundthat odd since ... if theywere really dating, whynot text or call one an-other, instead of put-ting it out there for the

thousands of people who followthem via social media? (She has165,000 followers; he has 563,000.)

But here’s where it gets inter-esting. Some joker noticed theback and forth and decided to in-clude McIlroy’s ex-girlfriend (alsoon Twitter, of course) in the con-versation, saying she wouldn’t behappy with the flirting.

Her response? “Bit late for that ...”

Ain’t no party like an SEC party ‘cause ...The Princeton Review put out its annual list ofthe nation’s “Top 20 Party Schools.” While Ihaven’t picked up a copy of the magazine tobreak down the criteria, a few things stand out(get out your pad and pen, high schoolers):

SEC rules. Not only are they superior at foot-ball, but five of the top 20 party schools inthe country are in the Southeastern Confer-ence (Georgia, No. 2; Ole Miss No. 3; Florida,No. 9; LSU, No. 13; South Carolina No. 20).

What do they have against the West Coast?Other than UCSB and Arizona State, do theynot party west of the Mississippi?

And no love for the Northeast? Only Syracuse(No.12) and Vermont (No. 19) made the list. And I’m not counting Penn State as theNortheast, since it’s closer to Pittsburgh thanPhilly.

– Jason Raj McIntyre covers athletes off the fieldand runs the popular blog, The Big Lead.

MAKE SURE TO EAT YOUR LEAFY GREENSYou know we love a bizarre arreststory, so here’s one that emerged lastweek from Las Vegas. Samaki Walker, aformer NBA lottery pick who starred atLouisville, was pulled over by police ina routine traffic stop. Then, it gets fun..

Not only arethey superiorat football, butfive of the top20 party

schools arein the

SEC.
