The posting of a video on-line seemed to be thedownfall of some DeanCollege students who wereexpelled this week for fail-ing to help a fellow stu-dent who was severelybeaten over a pair of shoes.

Video of Friday’s inci-dent showed one studentrepeatedly punching an-other student in the headwhile others shout andcheer. The video was post-

ed Monday on the websiteWorldstarhiphop.com.

A description attachedto the video explains thatthe fight took place over apair of stolen “foamposite”shoes.

It also shows the studentripping the victim’s shoeoff of his foot and hittinghim in the head with it.

A Dean spokesman saidcampus security respond-ed shortly after the fight

and the student who threwthe punches was expelledthe same day.

Six other students whowatched the beating wereexpelled Monday after col-lege officials saw thevideo and sought out thestudents.

Dean President PaulaRooney said the video pro-vided “disturbing views ofwhat transpired.”

MICHAEL NAUGHTON

While late-night weekendservice on the T would re-lieve the stress of chasingdown a taxi after stum-bling out of Hub wateringholes, MBTA officials saidthe agency doesn’t havethe extra cash for it.

“The proposal wouldhurt the T in a couple of ar-eas — but it’s not afford-able,” said acting GeneralManager Jon Davis.

Rep. Sean Garballey (D-Arlington) said he plans tofile a bill to extend trainhours to help boost Bostonbusiness — a plan that

sparked interest amongmany T users yesterday.

The proposal calls fortrains to run as late as 2a.m. and would apply aslight fare increase during

the after hours to bring inextra bucks for the T.

“I think it’s a great idea,”said Anthony Jacobs, a dai-ly rider. “It would keep peo-ple off the roads and fromdriving drunk, too.”

But Davis said even withthe extra incentive, the Tcouldn’t handle it for sever-al reasons, one being MBTAworkers make train fixeswhen the system shutsdown for the evening.

“It would have a detri-mental effect on continu-ing to maintain the systembecause they would have

less hours available tomake those improve-ments,” he said.

And at a time when theMBTA is getting ready to dis-cuss proposals for fare in-creases and service reduc-tions, facing a $161 milliondeficit next fiscal year, Davissaid it just “boils down tobeing unaffordable.”

“Expanding at a time offiscal crisis is not some-thing we can do at thispoint in time,” he said.

And the simple trick he used to help him perform like a 20 year old! Without drugs, pumps, or embarrassing doctor visits.

Why is Tom’s Wife Smiling?

By, Stefan Rothler; Freelance Health Writer;

If you’re like Tom, you know how frustrating it is when you can’t “Stand Up” for yourself. Es-pecially in the bedroom! And even though your wife tells you “its okay”— she secretly wishes you weren’t such “a soft y”. For your sake and hers.

Tom’s Story:Tom M. had a big problem. His love-life was

“coming up short”. And like a lot of men his age, he had a tough time “performing” in the bedroom.

But Tom’s wife was kind. She reassured him with words like “it’s no big deal”--- but it really was. So she urged him to get some help. He took her advice…

Tom searched the web for answers, and came up with nothing but scams. Everything he tried failed. He thought about asking his doctor about that well-known “little blue pill”. But it was way too expensive (as much as $30.00 per tablet). Plus, it doesn’t work for 32% of all men who try it. And according to its warning labels you could wind up deaf, blind, or even dead! It’s just not worth the risk.

Th e Secret of the Adult Film IndustryAnd by age 60, you’re left with a fraction of the HGH

you used to have. Th e signs of aging become impossible to ignore... narrower shoulders and more weight around the middle... thinner skin that loses elasticity... creases and wrinkles... aching joints and brittle bones... all signs that your body is gradually breaking down.

Add to that, decreased desire and ability and a loss of muscle tone that leads to a dangerous loss of agility and balance. But none of this has to happen...

Secret of Th e Rich and FamousAs Tom continued his research, he came across

something unusual. He read that male actors in the adult fi lm industry use something called “Herbal Viril-ity”. Before fi lming, the actors would pop one of these tiny pills in their mouth--- so when the director yells “action”- there’s always plenty of it!

It’s been the secret of adult fi lm producers for years! Th at’s because instead of taking a full-hour for it to work, Herbal Virility starts giving you “solid, long-lasting results” almost immediately aft er you take it --- no waiting!

Tom was excited to try it. Aft er all, Herbal Virility helped thousands of men get back their confi dence in the bedroom. And since its all-natural Herbal Virility is a lot safer than drugs. Th ere are no pumps to hassle with, no embarrassing doctor visits needed and it’s surprisingly aff ordable. Plus, it’s based on Nobel prize-winning research...

Here’s How It Works:In 1998, three scientists shared a Nobel Prize for

discovering that the chemical compound nitric oxide (or NO) plays a vital role in widening your blood vessels so blood fl ows more freely... especially in the “intimate areas” of your body.

When you’re young, nitric oxide fl ows abundantly through your body. Unfortunately, as you grow older, your NO production starts to diminish. As a result, so does your love life. Th at’s why Herbal Virility is so important.

Just pop a Herbal Virility into your mouth. Its proprietary formulation has no bitter taste and dissolves quickly into your bloodstream.

Herbal Virility contains all 25 of the most potent natural male enhancement boosters on earth. It helps kick-start your body’s natural ability to produce nitric oxide on its own. So you’re ready for action when you want it --- and as oft en as you want it. You’ll get a “big boost” of confi dence in the bedroom. And your wife will be so excited she may wake up the neighbors!

Rave Reviews Coming in EverydayMost men, who experience Herbal Virility’s fi rm

results, can’t get enough of it. Here’s what people are saying...

W. Pritchett II of Newport News, VA, tells us; “Aft er I turned 52, I couldn’t get it to work. I thought my fun was over. But now, thanks to Herbal Virility I can heat things up in the bedroom anytime I want to.” Please send me another 6 month supply!”

Melissa M. of Key Largo, FL reports; “Herbal Vi-rility saved our marriage! What a diff erence it made in my husband. He’s like a new man! All I can say is WOW!”.

Not Available in StoresTh e demand for Herbal Virility has been over-

whelming. And until now, there just wasn’t enough of it to go around. Th at’s why the makers of Herbal Virility are limiting its supply to newspaper and magazine readers only.

Herbal Virility is amazing. Men who try it can’t seem to get enough. But to really understand why, you have to try it for yourself. Th at’s why the makers of Herbal Virility asked us to “spread the word” by off ering our readers a full-month supply, at a super-discounted, “readers only” price.

Try Herbal Virility Risk-Free... Plus a 1 Year, Money-Back Guarantee

See for yourself. You have a whole year to decide. Here’s our guarantee; “If Herbal Virility doesn’t give you back your desire, your stamina --- and get you “inter-ested” whenever you need it --- you won’t have to pay a dime. You have a full year to make up your mind. Either you’re absolutely thrilled with Herbal Virility… or you get back every red cent!

campaign for the Republi-can presidential nomina-tion in 2008. He is againcompeting for the party’snomination, this time tochallenge Barack Obamafor the presidency in 2012.

Five weeks before thefirst contests in Iowa, Rom-ney has seen his positionas front-runner among Re-publican presidential can-didates whittled away inthe polls as rival Newt Gin-grich, the former speakerof the House of Represen-tatives, has gained ground.

When Romney left thegovernorship of Massachu-

setts, 11 of his aidesbought the hard drives oftheir state-issued comput-ers to keep for themselves. Also before he left office, the governor’s staff had e-mails and other electron-ic communications byRomney’s administrationwiped from state servers, state officials say.

Those actions erasedmuch of the internal docu-mentation of Romney’sfour-year tenure as gover-nor, which ended in Janu-ary 2007. Precisely what in-formation was erased isunclear. REUTERS

There are three charactersin “High” — a priest, a nunand a drug addict — andthough it sounds like thebeginning of a joke, theplay’s plot is actually veryserious.

“It’s about faith and ad-diction,” says director RobRuggiero, a Milford, Mass.,native. “The play deals witha religious faith, but also abelief in a higher power, thefaith in yourself to change.”

The show takes place in aCatholic rehab center, where a former alcoholicnun (played by KathleenTurner) agrees to sponsor a19-year-old crystal meth ad-dict. Though it’s not strictlyautobiographical, the pro-duction is based on the ex-periences of its playwright,Matthew Lombardo, a re-covered meth user.

“We’ve always been con-cerned with honoringMatthew’s journey,” Rug-giero says. “To make surethe light that we representonstage is truthful and nottheatricalized — and re-spectful of that addictioncommunity.”

Needless to say, the piecedoes not glamorize sub-stance abuse. There is

comedic relief in the story, through the unlikely friend-ship of the three main char-acters, but Ruggiero says it’scertainly no joke. “It’s veryraw at times. ... This playcould serve as a wake-upcall for some people, interms of the destructing na-ture of drug addiction.”

Wiz Khalifa is having a good2011. This year saw thePittsburgh native with aconstant stream of achieve-ments. His single “Blackand Yellow” hit No. 1, hehas sold out tours and hefinished up the year withtwo Grammy nods. Nowhe’s teaming up with friendand mentor Snoop Dogg for“Mac and Devin Go To HighSchool,” a new stoner com-edy and joint album (hehheh) that will serve as thesoundtrack. While the filmhas no official release date, the album drops next Tues-day. To spread the word,Wiz and Snoop hit the roadwith a mini tour earlier thisweek. Sadly, no Boston

show was scheduled. Khali-fa chatted with Metro aboutthe project.

How was it to work on “Macand Devin” with Snoop? It’s a dream come true to beable to work with Snoop. Itjust came together so natu-rally. It’s like your O.G. justsaying, “Yeah, you can comehang out with me.” Itworked for both of us.We’re both inspired by eachother. We wanted to do themovie and the soundtrackso that everyone else couldhave as much fun as we do.With the serious tone that wehave been seeing in the worldlately, do you think there isroom for that fun vibe?

Absolutely. At the end of theday, people want to be ableto experience everything. You can’t just wake up andbe business all day. Youcan’t be rock ’n’ roll all dayeither. You have to slow itdown and take it to differ-ent zones. In the movie, your charactercomes out of his shell. Does

that mimic your real life? Not really. [Laughs] I thinkthe movie shows a differentside of me though. The lessbraggadocious side. Thecalm me that I really was inhigh school. Not as nerdy ordorky.

Wiz Khalifa gets schooled by Snoop Dogg

In the film version, Khalifa, right, plays the valedictorian

struggling to write a graduation speech — and when he

realizes he has spent all of his time studying and none

hanging out, he finds inspiration in the worst student at

the high school, who of course is played by Snoop.

The performers in “ThreePianos” play 24 songsabout a man who wandersinto the woods and re-nounces all human con-tact. But the music is reallyall about a boozy night ofmale bonding.

“The message of thesongs can be very sad andlonely, yet what they didwas bring a group of peopletogether,” says Rick Burk-

hardt, one of three menwho wrote and performs inthe show. It revolves arounda piece of music, “Winter-reise,” by 19th century Aus-trian composer FranzSchubert. In his heyday,Schubert and his poetfriends gathered for elabo-rate parties called Schuber-tiads to play the songs.

“In a way, we re-enactthese parties,” says Burk-

Composer Franz Schubert apparently really knew howto party ‘Three Pianos’ is some fully loaded theater

The piano has been drinkinghardt. The three men per-form the full 75-minutesong cycle, complete withsinging and choreographedpiano configurations. Theyriff on the original pieceand occasionally slip intothe persona of the compos-er and his contemporaries.

Burkhardt and his friendsdecided to write the showafter happening upon anold, water-damaged “Win-terreise” score at a late-night party in New York.

“So we played it,”Burkhart remembers. With-out intending to, they hadrecreated a Schubertiad.“All the ingredients werethere: A group of friends, this music, alcohol. Therewas dancing [and] horsingaround, and it kept comingback to these songs.”

Yoga pose of the week: Garland PoseNote: People with knee injuriesshould avoid this pose.

1Squat with your feet asclose together as possible.

2Separate your thighs slight-ly wider than your torso.

Exhaling, lean your torso for-ward and fit it snugly betweenyour thighs.

3Keep your feet flat andkeep your body weight on

your toes as much as possible.

4Press your elbows againstyour inner knees, bringing

your palms together, and resistthe knees into the elbows.

5To go further, press yourinner thighs against the

sides of your torso. Reach your arms forward, then swing them out to the sidesand notch your shins into your armpits. Press yourfingertips to the floor, or

reach around the outside ofyour ankles and clasp yourheels.

6Hold the position for 30seconds to one minute,

then inhale, straighten theknees and stand.

Hold it right there!

When you flip through youriTunes collection, isn’t itamazing how each song af-fects your mood so signifi-cantly? One can make youfeel light and bouncy; an-other can take you to adark, depressing place con-nected to some past memo-ry. Why does this happen?

“Once the emotional linkto music is established, ourneurological reactions areprofound,” says Dr. Con-

cetta Tomaino, director ofthe Institute for Music andNeurologic Function in NewYork. “Our brain createshard-wired responses to cer-tain situations that are re-peated when listening tothe music.”

The happiesttunes Feelings of happiness arestrongly linked to key tone:“Minor keys are often associ-ated with depression and sad-ness, and major keys withfeeling happy,” says Dr. DeGeorgia. Also, higher pitched, generally female sounds arethought to be comforting. Butsometimes, it just comesdown to you loving the song.

“When we know a song’stonal structure, we feel com-fortable,” says Dr. De Georgia.“Brilliant musicians such asMozart and The Beatles man-aged to tweak a song just out-side of the ‘comfort zone,’making it unique without en-tirely losing the plot and go-ing offbeat,” he adds.

Your brainon music

Memories are key The personal connection youhave to certain songs triggersthe release of feel-good chemi-cals, like dopamine and sero-

tonin, in the brain. Hormonalchanges also occur. “Yourbrain triggers the release ofthe ‘cuddle’ hormone, oxytocin, that promotes feel-ings of love and trust,” says Dr.Michael De Georgia, director

of Music and Medicine at Uni-versity Hospitals Case MedicalCenter in Cleveland.

Your mom may also comeinto play. Maegan Morrow, amusic therapist who is work-ing with injured

congresswoman Gabrielle Gif-fords, believes that ourconnection with music comesfrom the way we werenurtured. “A certain voicecould make you think of yourmother’s lullabies,” she says.

Makeup matters, too A song’s structure also makesan impact. Dr. Tomaino saysanything faster than normalwalking tempo makes us feelenergized. But according toDr. De Georgia, the key to anelating song is one whoserhythm is at the samefrequency as our heartbeat,an average of 60-80 beats perminute. Anything below 60beats can be either sad or re-laxing, whereas anything

above 80 can rev you up orcause anxiety:

“Rock music can make youfeel euphoric, but a frequencytoo much above heartbeatcauses your brain to releasestress hormones,” he explains.

Morrow describes rhythmas an external force to whichour bodies align. “Our bodiesare rhythmic: our steps, ourheartbeat, our breath,” shesays. “Rhythm brings struc-ture to the environment andthe body [tries] to align withthat beat.”

The last month of the year offers usthe opportunity to shed old ways.Much like the trees must let go oftheir leaves, we must let go of oldpatterns to start fresh in the new

year. Change can be difficult — but thisseason, you have the opportunity to makechange fun.

Rather than get overwhelmed aboutwhat you want to change, make it a ritual-istic experience. The same way the leaveschange colors before they fall, you too canchange your inner life before you makegreat shifts in 2012. Take time this monthto hibernate by spending time in deep con-templation. Get cozy in your local cafe

with a cup of hot tea and spend some timereflecting.

Reflect on the year past and plan forthe year ahead. Write a list of every-thing you accomplished in 2011.Then take an inventory of what

you’d like to do differently in 2012. Withoutjudgment, reflect honestly and fearlessly on2011 and make a commitment to yourselfthat you’ll let go of old patterns in order togrow with each new season.

When the Patriots head tothe nation’s capital to takeon the Redskins on Sunday,it will be business as usual.

But for Bill Belichick, itwill also be a chance tobeat old friend Mike Shana-han, now head coach of theRedskins.

The two go back to theearly 1990s when Belichickwas with the Giants andShanahan the 49ers. Whilethey’ve never coached onthe same staff, they’ve hadmany matchups and off-seasons to get to knoweach other.

“I think Mike liked mebecause he used to like tobeat up on us all the time,”Belichick said. “I’ve gottento know Mike a little bit offthe field — league meet-ings and stuff like that. He’s a great competitor. Ihave great respect for whathe’s done, all the champi-onships and all the out-standing teams he has hadand coached.”

The two are close

enough that Belichick hadShanahan as a guest at Pa-triots training camp backin 2009 when Shanahanwas out of the league.

Belichick admits thatyou can’t give away too

much to any opposingcoach, but with Shanahanhe’s not worried.

“In Mike’s case, this is avery smart and experi-enced coach, and I don’tthink there’s probably too

much that we do that hehasn’t seen [or that] he’spretty familiar with,” Be-lichick said.

The Bradley Mansion res-idences, currently underconstruction, are decadenceat its best.

The three conjoinedbuildings, which will in-clude 12 enormous unitsand 16-foot ceilings, areanchored by the formerBradley Mansion, a histori-cal masterpiece designedby renowned architectPeabody & Stern at theturn of the century. Thebuildings were most re-cently owned by SimmonsCollege.

What distinguishes theresidences, besides the 86-foot-width, is the restora-tion of bygone-era detailslike the original grand stair-case — the centerpiece ofthe dramatic lobby.

“These are historic, beau-tiful buildings. They werebuilt at the same time asthe Newport Mansions,”said Tracy Campion of Cam-pion & Company, theagents for the project. “Oneunit is like a room built in

Keep it simpleI try to create spaces that arereally calm as a simplebackdrop for the stuff of life, and when is there more stuffthan at Christmas? Last year Idid nothing — I didn’t even

put up a tree. I couldn’t believehow colorful and full myhouse became of gifts, people, food, things — just thecelebration, and it wasn’t over-whelming. So I might sound abit Zen there, but I would [sug-gest] a simple mantelpiece — Ilove magnolia leaves becausethey’re still out at this time ofyear, I love small votives, andmaybe a smell in the houselike cinnamon.

On her styleMy entertaining style is simi-lar to my food and fashionstyle: I like casual, comfortable and a touch ofcouture. I think when you’reentertaining it’s aboutmaking it easy and makingeveryone feel comfortablewhen they walk in your door, not like feeling like theetiquette police are gonnacome out. You wanteverybody to just feel relaxedand have a good time. I thinkthe hostess sets the tone, so ifyou’re having a good timeand you’re relaxed, everybodyelse will be too.

Creative centerpiecesIt doesn’t have to be flowers. One thing I really like to do isget clear glass bowls and fillthem with ball ornaments. I’ll

fill bowls with those and put[them] going down the table. Itlooks fun and festive and a boxof those at the dollar store is,like, two bucks. Get creative:Go out in your yard and getbranches, pine cones — youcan take a gold glitter pen anddecorate each of the pinecones a little bit. I also love cit-rus for decorating, so if you dothe pine branches, put someclementines in there and theneverybody can eat those whilethey’re having tea. I also lovethe way pomegranates look ina bowl.

On shortcuts you can takeDon’t bite off more than youcan chew when you’reentertaining. Have someassembly foods: Go to the Ital-ian specialty store and buy sala-mi, prosciutto, parmesan andolives and put it on a beautifulplatter — that’s totally easy.Buy some store-bought bread-sticks, wrap them in prosciuttoand put that in a glass. Fordessert, buy a pound cake, cutit into layers and spread it withwhipped cream and berries. There’s all kinds of shortcutsyou can take, and then you can

focus on the main course. And Itry to [cook] foods as far in ad-vance as possible and put thefinishing touches on right be-fore the merriment.

On desserts

I love cookies because they’reeasy for people to grab. Youdon’t need a plate and a forkso it’s one less thing to wash. Ialso will fill bowls with candyand let people dig in — it feelsa little bit like being a kid.

I always feel that if someonecomes over to my house andimmediately takes a nap, youare a huge success — ratherthan you’re so boring they’vefallen asleep. It’s the idea thatyou know that everything iscomfortable and the couch iscozy and the pillows are softand the food is so good. Andthey’re so drunk that they justpassed out.

I’m also a big fan of thedrinks tray, which looks gra-cious and grown up. Lined upbottles and glasses just lookreally pretty set on a tray.

When people don’t havemuch room, I've seen themput bottles into the shelf of abookshelf. It looks very invit-ing. When people come over, there’s not that awkward mo-ment at the beginning — it’slike: “There’s the bar.” Theycan make themselves a drink.Hey, they can make otherpeople a drink.

AmandaHallayAuthor of “Vintage Cocktails”and professor at LIM College

Which of your vintagedrinks are best for a holiday party?Without a doubt, The Champagne Cocktail! It’s so easy to make, but so pretty and festive, and youcan save a lot of bucks by not making it with real champagne; you can make it with prosecco, or anysparkling dry white wine. All you do is throw a sugarcube into the bottom of achampagne flute (althoughany glass will do; who cares when you’re servingChampagne Cocktails?!), add a few drops of Angostura bitters (which you buy from the grocerystore) a shot of cognac(optional), top withchampagne and garnish with a maraschino cherry and a ribbon of orange rind.It is so spectacular looking, but you can bring it in for a

dollar a glass, and everyonewill swoon when handedsuch a beautiful cocktail.(And if you’re using cheapprosecco, make sure you stillannounce it as a ChampagneCocktail; nobody will knowthe difference.)
