The Douglas J. Wall Aquatic Center

(formerly the Natatorium) opened in

November 1983, just in time to house the

inaugural Northern Arizona University

women's swimming and diving team.

Twenty-nine years later, the facility is con-

sidered a world-class training facility for

national teams worldwide.

Wall Aquatic Center is an Olympic-

size swimming and diving complex, which

is open not only to the NAU swim team

but also to the public, students, faculty

and staff as well as the NAU water polo

club teams. It also houses a small weight

room, featuring free weights and a

Universal weight machine. The carpeted

mezzanine level, which overlooks nearly

the length of the 50-meter pool, can

accommodate 350 spectators.

The 704,000-gallon pool features

two one-meter and two three-meter div-

ing boards, a 13-foot-deep diving tank, six

25-meter lap lanes (seven feet deep),

eight 50-meter lap lanes (four to 13 feet

deep) and a three-foot therapy pool area

as well as handicap access.

The building itself is 45,000 square

feet, including underground tunnels

around the pool walls-complete with

underwater viewing, mechanical and storage rooms,

locker rooms, offices, a classroom and 10,000 square

feet of pool deck.

The swimming and diving complex and the 7,000-

foot elevation have attracted Olympic medal winners

such as Pablo Morales, Summer Sanders, Lea Loveless

and most recent medalists Gary Hall Jr., Anthony Ervin

and Dana Vollmer to train in Flagstaff. In 1990 the High

Altitude Challenge was held in the Wall Aquatic Center,

featuring former world-record holders Matt Biondi and

Tom Jager. Several national teams used the facility in

the year prior to the recent Beijing Games to enhance

their training regimens. Twenty-one medals were won

by swimmers at the Games who used the Wall Aquatic

Center in conjunction with the Center for High Altitude

Training as part of their preparations.

The facility added a bulkhead in 2000 to enhance its

versatility as a world-class training facility. The 2000-01

season-opening meet vs. San Diego State was the first to

use the bulkhead in competition, producing the first col-

legiate meet in Flagstaff held on a 25-yard course.

Andy Johns enters for his 17th season as the Northern Arizonahead swimming and diving coach. Throughout his NAU career,Johns has continued to take on new challenges and strives to takehis program to the next level.

Johns' squad reached new heights during the 2011-12 season,as his team won five individual titles and placed second overall atthe WAC Championships. Junior Fi Connell and sophomore RachelPalmer each won two individual titles and NAU won the 800freestyle relay, its first WAC really title in program history. TheLumberjacks combined for a program-record 11 NCAA 'B' Standardtimes and broke eight school records during the meet.

NAU also earned dual meet wins during the season overWashington State, Idaho, New Mexico State and Colorado State, among others, before placing second among the eight teams com-peting at the conference meet. Connell, Palmer, and sophomoresEmma Lowther and Jordan Burnes were all namedCollegeSwimming.com Mid-Major All-Americans, while Palmer wasnamed NAU's Female Athlete of the Year and freshman CaitlinWright was named Newcomer of the Year. NAU continued to excelin the classroom as well, posting program-record GPA's during bothsemesters including a 3.52 mark in the spring, the 10th highest GPAamong all Division-I women's swimming & diving programs.

Johns led his Lumberjack squad to a third place finish at theWAC Championships in 2010-11, with the Lumberjacks collecting 21All-WAC awards during the four-day championship meet. NAUbroke six school records and produced 41 top 16 individual finishesand five point-scoring relays. Sophomore Fi Connell repeated as the200 backstroke champion, won silver in the 100 backstroke, andbronze in the 200 individual medley.

Connell built off her sensational freshman season in which shewon gold medals in both the 100 and 200 backstroke. She becamethe first multiple winner for NAU at a championship meet sinceEmily Simon in 2004 and hit NCAA qualifying times in both events.Connell was named to the 2010 and 2011 Division I Mid-Major All-America team by www.collegeswimming.com. She was joined onthe 2011 squad by Emma Lowther after the freshman took home asilver medal at the WAC meet.

Johns led NAU to a pair of second place finishes at the WACChampionships prior to a fifth place finish in 2010. TheLumberjacks earned the runner-up title among nine teams in 2008-09 and finished second among eight teams during the 2007-08 sea-son.

At the 2009 WAC Championships, the Lumberjacks earned 43All-WAC Awards and set 11 school records, marking the mostrecords set at the WAC meet in the five years NAU has been a mem-ber as well as the most records ever set at a conference meet inJohns’ 14 years. The 43 All-WAC Awards are also the most to date, and were four more than NAU had earned the previous year.

Johns coached an individual gold medalist as then-juniorRachael Foe earned the honor in the 200 individual medley. Two ofNAU’s relay teams also earned silver medals along with schoolrecords.

Along with its second-place team finish in 2007-08, NAUearned 39 All-WAC Awards, set six school records and earned twospecial awards. Diving Coach Nikki Huffman received co-WAC DivingCoach of the Year and senior Natalie Hughes was named the WACDiver of the Year.

Six years ago Johns helped NAU finish third among the eightteams in the WAC and set seven school records at the conferencemeet. Alexis Buckley earned an individual WAC title for the secondyear in the row, winning the 400 individual medley in a school-record time.

In 2005-06, the Lumberjacks placed third at the WAC meet forthe first time, and also set three school records. Johns coachedBuckley, a distance freestyle swimmer, to a qualifying time for theNCAA Championships. Buckley swam in both the 1,650 and 500freestyle at the NCAA Championships in Athens, Ga., and was the

first female swimmerat NAU to representthe Lumberjacks in 12years.

The 2004-05season marked NAU’sfirst as an affiliatemember of the WAC.Johns not only led theteam to a fifth-placefinish at the confer-ence championshipsamong a field thatincluded nationally-ranked SMU andHawai’i, but wasnamed the WACCoach of the Year inNAU’s rookie season. The team placed 12swimmers and diverson the WAC All-

Academic Team, and set a total of nine school records at the cham-pionships.

In 2003-04, the year before joining the WAC, NAU finishedsecond at the National Independent Conference (NIC)Championships and Johns was named the NIC Women’s SwimmingCoach of the Year. NAU had seven individual conference champions, tying the team record for the most champions in a single confer-ence meet. The Lumberjacks also set 10 school records, and earnedtwo other honors in addition to Johns’, as assistant coach NikkiHuffman earned her fourth Diving Coach of the Year honor andthen-sophomore Blair Buder was named the Female Diver of theYear.

Over the years, Johns has put NAU swimming and diving onthe map on several levels, including the regional stage as well asproducing perennial conference-title contenders when he movedthe program from the Pacific Collegiate Swimming Conference intothe all-Division I NIC in 1998-99.

In 11 years against exclusively Division I competition at theconference level, Johns has led NAU to seven second-place finishes(including three straight from 2001-04) and three third-placeefforts. Success for NAU not only shows in the team standings, butalso in the record book. In Johns' 14 years, NAU has earned 47 indi-vidual and relay conference titles, 95 school records (a high of 11set at the 2009 WAC meet), nine conference records and 16 NCAAqualifying marks.

In 2001, NAU earned its first individual NIC champions(Chelsey Urban and Kate Morgan) and finished a strong third in theconference meet. Johns then raised the bar even higher and ledNAU to a second-place NIC finish in 2002, just a few points shy ofthe program's first Division I conference title.

Johns has always been a proponent of the "total" program -one that also succeeds in the classroom. Since the fall of 1996, hisstudent-athletes have posted cumulative grade-point averages of3.00 and higher in 32 of 34 academic semesters.

The Lumberjacks have consistently had the most student-ath-letes earn Academic All-WAC honors among the schools in theleague, with 20 earning the honor last year. The 2007-08 squadearned a record 28 NAU Golden Eagle Scholar Athlete Awards. NAUhas been recognized six times as an Academic All-America Team bythe Collegiate Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA)including last year's squad which posted a 3.52 grade point averagein the fall.

Johns came to NAU in 1996 from Clemson, where he trainedthe sprinters, including one NCAA All-American. Prior to that, hespent three years as head coach at Northeast Missouri State (nowTruman State). During his tenure, his teams set 45 school recordsand five athletes posted their first national qualifying times.

Johns is well-respected in the swimming research community, having presented at the American College of Sports Medicinenational meeting twice, first about the effects of warm-up in 1991and tapering in 1992. Johns is published in many sports medicinejournals, including the International Journal of Sports Medicine andMedicine and Science in Sport in Exercise. He was awarded aresearch fellowship from the Institute of Nutrition at the Universityof North Carolina in 1990.

As a collegian at East Carolina, Johns helped his team to theColonial Athletic Association title in 1989. Prior to ECU, he was ajunior-college All-American, earning the honor eight times in twoyears at Broward (Fla.) Community College.

Outside of his time as a coach, Johns has performed with theFlagstaff Light Opera Company, including the musicals Oliver andThe Secret Garden, and is currently a member of The FlagstaffMaster Chorale.

Johns received his bachelor's degree in physical educationfrom ECU in 1989 and followed that with a master's in exercisephysiology in 1991. Johns has one daughter, Ali.

Nikki Huffman begins her 17th year at the helm of the Northern Arizona divingprogram, a squad that she has consistently led to the NCAA Zone Diving Championships.A four-time National Independent Conference (NIC) Diving Coach of the Year, Huffmannow takes her team into its ninth year of Western Athletic Conference (WAC) competi-tion, a league which boasts some of the top divers in the country.

NAU placed four divers in the NCAA Zone meet in 2011-12, including All-WACFirst Team performer Kristy Ardavanis, who was named Verizon WAC Diver of the Weekfive times during the regular season. She took the silver on 1-meter and placed fourth on3-meter to lead NAU at the WAC Championships and posted the second-highest scoresin program history on both boards during the season. Seniors Holly Frost and CassieAnderson and freshman Kali Lents joined Ardavanis as qualifiers for the NCAA Zonemeet, and Lents' score of 221.00 on platform at the WAC Championships was the sec-ond-best platform score in program history.

The program reached new heights in 2010-11, as the Lumberjacks sent six diversto the NCAA Zone Regional Championships, the most in school history. Senior LanaChristensen was the top finisher posting an 11th-place finish on 3-meter. NAU combinedto take home five All-WAC selections, while senior Taryn Harris named WAC Diver of theWeek twice and Christensen was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America At LargeTeam.

In 2009-10, the diving team picked up nine All-WAC honors including medalsfrom Harris and freshman Kristy Ardavanis. Ardavanis won bronze on 3-meter spring-board and Harris won silver on 1-meter. Huffman qualified four divers for the NCAAZone Diving Regional Championships. Harris went on to place 12th on the 1-meter at

the Zone meet.In 2008-09, Harris earned bronze medals at the WAC Championships on both 1-meter and 3-meter. Harris went on to earn

eighth place at the NCAA Zone Diving Championships on the 1-meter, joining two other Lumberjacks at that meet.Huffman and her divers had a breakout year in 2007-08, as senior Natalie Hughes became NAU’s first-ever gold-medal win-

ner in diving in the WAC (3-meter) and was named the WAC Diver of the Year. Huffman herself earned her first WAC Diving Coachof the Year Award, sharing the honor with Mike Brown of Hawaii.

In the eight years prior to joining the WAC, the Lumberjacks dominated conference competition in the NIC. Huffman hasbrought the Lumberjacks to an elite status at the NCAA Zone Diving Championships, represented by schools from the Pacific-10,WAC, Big West and Mountain West conferences. NAU won 11 individual conference diving titles in eight years in the NIC women'scompetition under Huffman's guidance, and earned four conference diver-of-the-year awards (including back-to-back honors byKate Morgan in 2002 and 2003, and the most recent by Blair Buder in 2004). Huffman was named the Women's Diving Coach ofthe Year four times (1997, 2002, 2003, 2004).

A year prior to Harris’ impressive eighth-place finish at the Zone meet, Hughes, who represented NAU all four years of hercareer, finished seventh on both 1-meter and 3-meter. Danielle Borth was a three-time representative, and placed 10th on the 1-meter and 12th on the platform as a senior. Both divers finished in the top-8 on all three events at the WAC Championships theirjunior and senior years, with Hughes earning the bronze medal on the 1-meter as a junior and the gold as a senior, and Borth tak-ing bronze on 1-meter and 3-meter as a senior.

Not only has NAU been dominant on the conference level, but it is starting to gain a name for itself on a national level. Overthe last nine years, Lumberjacks have taken 32 spots at the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships, which is the fourth-most amongall schools represented at the meet over that span (trailing only UCLA, Stanford and Arizona) - ahead of most Pac-12 and allMountain West, WAC and Big West schools. The senior class of 2003 for Huffman was the most successful, as all three - KateMorgan, Maryann Wagener and Courtney McKenzie - participated in the zone meet in all four years they were at the MountainCampus, led by Morgan as the top finisher every year and even being a second alternate to the NCAA Championships in 2003.

Over the last 13 years, Huffman has produced multiple divers that qualified for the zone meet every year. All in all, 23 differ-ent divers have represented NAU at the zone diving meet on the women's side since Huffman arrived; that is nearly twice thenumber that represented the school in the previous 13 years of the program's existence.

While success on the boards has been prominent in describing Huffman, her student-athletes have also been superior in theclassroom. The divers have helped the Lumberjacks be named an Academic All-America Team by the Collegiate SwimmingCoaches Association of America (CSCAA) six times - an honor given to a team with a grade-point average of 2.90 and higher. AnnaDeem was named an honorable-mention Academic All-America by the CSCAA and Courtney McKenzie also earned the CSCAAhonor and, in addition, was named the NAU Golden Eagle Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2002-03. She also earned selec-tion to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Women's At Large District VIII First Team, making her a nominee for Academic All-America consideration.

Danielle Borth was the first diver to be named Academic All-WAC every year of her career. Borth earned another first whenThe Leadership Consortium (TCL) in Phoenix named her one of their 2008 Community Leadership Award winners. Borth con-tributed 132 hours of community service as a senior, and was also named the female Lumberjack Service Award winner.

Prior to NAU, Huffman spent two years at Clemson, where she was voted the 1996 Atlantic Coast Conference Men's DivingCoach of the Year. With the Tigers, Huffman coached both men's and women's diving teams to winning seasons, with the women'steam being ranked in the top-25 of the national coaches' poll in 1996. She had one ACC champion each year and took five diversto the zone meet in 1996.

Huffman began her coaching career at her alma mater, Oakland University. She coached six All-Americans and three DivisionII national champions, being named Division II National Men's Diving Coach of the Year in 1994. At Oakland, she coached DarioD'Fazio, who represented Venezuela in the 1992 and 1996 Summer Olympics.

As an athlete, Huffman was a seven-time All-America and two-time national champion during her career at Oakland, whereshe returned every time the NIC Championships were held at the Rochester, Mich. school.

A 1991 graduate of Oakland, the former Nikki Kelsey was married in the summer of 2001. She gave birth to a daughter, Kayla,in the summer of 2003, and to a son, Darren, in the spring of 2005.

CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS

The Northern Arizona swimming anddiving program began just as the founda-tion was drying on the Natatorium. Theathletics director at the time, HankAnderson, added a women's swimming anddiving program to the athletics departmentin 1983, and tabbed former Arizona StateAll-American Pam Rogers as head coach.

Since the program was not affiliatedwith the Big Sky, Rogers went to find a nichefor her new program. After wandering inother conferences, Rogers worked withcoaches from other independent schoolsand established the Pacific Collegiate SwimConference in 1986, a league of Division I, IIand III schools.

The word 'dynasty' was quicklyapplied to Rogers' program, as NAU won

the first four PCSC championships on thewomen's side (1987, 1988, 1989 and 1990).

Upon the success with the women, athletics director Tom Jurich put Rogers onthe national map when he added men'sswimming and diving in 1990 and namedRogers the head coach - making her one ofonly three women in Division I to lead acombined program.

Her winning touch rubbed off on themen, as they won the PCSC title in theirfirst two years (1991, 1992). The men's pro-gram would win six titles in seven years.

NAU would reach regional and nation-al success by producing NCAAChampionships qualifiers in the 1990s, theprogram's first such athletes. The firstLumberjack to see NCAA competition was

diver Rob Sherman, who finished 22nd inthe nation in 1992.

April Diez made the biggest nationalsplash, becoming the first NAU woman tocompete at the national meet and the firstswimming All-American when she finishedsixth in the mile freestyle and ninth in the500 in 1994.

The program joined the NationalIndependent Conference in 1998 andreturned to women-only status in 1999.After Diez, Andrea Redman was an NCAAqualifier in 1998 and 1999 and was followedby Chelsey Urban in 2001. NAU was a strongmember of the NIC, finishing second in 1999,2002, 2003 and 2004 and a solid third in2001.

In 2004-05, the program moved on

from the NIC and joined the WesternAthletic Conference, placing fifth in the firstyear and earning head coach Andy Johns thetitle of WAC Coach of the Year. A year later,NAU finished third and Alexis Buckleybecame the first swimmer in 12 years to rep-resent the Lumberjacks at the NCAAChampionships. NAU again finished third in2007-08, and the 2008-09 season saw NAUearn its highest WAC finish, placing 2nd.After finishing fifth in 2009-10, theLumberjacks placed third in 10-11 and weresecond last season with five event titles with11 NCAA “B” times and eight programrecords.

In 29 years of existence, the NAUwomen have won six team and 88 individ-ual and relay conference titles.

April Diez-Walker (1992-96), a first-ballot inductee into the NAU Athletics Hall of Fame, was the firstfemale swimmer to compete at the NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving Championships and is the only swim-ming All-American in school history.

Diez-Walker was a two-time NCAA Championships qualifier and still holds three individual school records- the 500 freestyle, 1,000 freestyle and 1,650 freestyle. A 1994 NCAA All-American in the 1,650freestyle, she fin-ished sixth overall at the NCAA meet and placed ninth in the 500-yard freestyle, earning honorable-mention All-America honors. She was also a championship finalist at the 1993 World University Games in Buffalo, N.Y.

Diez-Walker was also named the top female scholar-athlete in the nation following the 1993-94 academ-ic year based on her athletic and academic accomplishments (a perfect 4.00 grade-point average). The formerApril Diez was named Female Swimmer of the Year following the 1995 Pacific Collegiate Swim ConferenceChampionships after winning the 1,650 free, 200 free, 500 free and 400 individual medley (setting an NAUrecord in the process).

A native of Phoenix, she earned her degree in sociology at NAU, completed law school at the University ofCalifornia, Berkeley, before moving back to Phoenix.

Valerie Carter (1984-87), a 2006 NAU Athletics Hall of Fame inductee, didn’t know it but, right after theball dropped to start 2006, the ball started rolling on her induction. Keeping it a complete secret, Joe Cartercontacted the NAU Athletic Media Relations office in early January to inquire about nominating his wife for thehonor, and from there, Carter’s numerous accomplishments in diving at NAU began to surface.

Carter (formerly Simmons) qualified for the NCAA Championships twice, becoming the first athlete in theprogram to ever qualify, and also became the school record-holder in both the one and three-meter events aswell as the Pac-West Conference champion in both events as a junior. Carter was the team co-captain as a sen-ior, all-academic Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference honoree and was twice named the team’s most outstand-ing diver.

Carter didn’t just receive a degree, pack up and leave. She has made Flagstaff her home, and NAU hercareer. She has four different degrees from the university in physical therapy including an advanced master’sand a doctorate. Carter currently works as an associate professor in the Physical Therapy Department, and alsoowns and operates Carter Rehabilitation in town along with her husband.

Pam Rogers, a 2007 NAU Athletics Hall of Fame inductee, was the Head Coach for the swimming and diving

program from 1983-96, and also the first coach of the program. Rogers won five Pacific Collegiate Swimming

Conference titles during her tenure and was responsible for the addition of the men’s program, which also won five

conference titles.

Rogers was the first woman in the sport of swimming and diving to be the head coach of a combined men’s

and women’s Division I team. The team finished 29th at the 1994 NCAA Championships behind All-American April

Diez’s performance in the 500 freestyle and the mile. Rogers coached 39 women’s conference champions in indi-

vidual events and 47 Golden Eagle Scholar Athletes.

She was a four-time All-American, a two-time national champion and an alternate for the U.S. Olympic Team

in 1976, and went on to coach ASU to two national and four conference titles.

A 2007 graduate of NAU, Alexis Buckley was the first female swimmer in 12 years to participate in the

NCAA Championships when she qualified as a junior in the 1,650 freestyle with a time of 16:27.12, second only

to All-American April Diez’s time of 16:18.13.

Buckley was the first NAU swimmer to earn a Western Athletic Conference (WAC) title, garnering two of

them since the Lumberjacks joined the WAC in 2004-05. As a junior, Buckley won the 1,650 freestyle at the WAC

Championships and as a senior she set a school-record time of 4:23.73 en route to winning her second title in

the 400 individual medley.

At the 2006 NCAA Championships, Buckley placed 19th in the 1,650 freestyle and 33rd in the prelims of

the 500 freestyle.

The Wall Aquatic Center, home to the NAU swimming and diving program, is a

prominent training facility for would class athletes, which have included severalnational teams from around the world, American gold-medal swimmers like Gary HallJr. and Anthony Ervin, as well as World and Olympic champion Australian swimmerIan Thorpe and four-time Olympic gold medalist and Japanese swimmer KosukeKatajima. Katajima trained in Flagstaff prior to the 2008 Beijing Olympics and went onto win gold medals in both the 100-meter and 200-meter breaststroke. As Katajimasaid to Swimming Technique magazine, “Whenever I come here (to Flagstaff), Ialways improve my time.” Flagstaff works for an Olympic gold medalist; just imaginewhat it can do for you.

Living and training in an environment such as Flagstaff, at an elevation of 7,000feet above sea level, provides many benefits to athletes and coaches in pursuit ofpeak performances. Unlike the international teams which only come to Flagstaff forrelatively short altitude training camps, the athletes at Northern Arizona Universityenjoy the benefits of long-term exposure to altitude. Although not researched indepth, anecdotal evidence suggests that the benefits of living and training at a signif-icant elevation result in long-term improvement of athletic performance. Crucial tothe success of our athletes is an application of years of knowledge and continuallearning from the best coaches in the world, who visit NAU regularly for altitude train-ing cycles. The development of a “need to rest or ready to work” baseline test set hashelped fine-tune the science of swimming at NAU. Being smart about the timing,

duration and intensity of work has resulted in NAU swimmers going to the NCAA Championships in events ranging from the 50 freestyle to the mile.Smart, scientific, efficient training with a common goal of improved performance over the long haul is challenging, but the Lumberjacks of NorthernArizona University are primed to meet the challenge.

In 2012, 152 athletes from 22 countries who trained in Flagstaff competed in the Olympics or Paralympics. HYPO2 Sport Management worked with ath-letes in swimming and track & field that desired to train at high altitude in NAU’s world-class facilities. In swimming, 11 Olympians and eight Paralympiansthat trained in Flagstaff brought back medals from London in representing six different countries. Tunisian Olympian Oussama Mellouli brought homegold in the Men’s 10 k Open water while four Paralympians earned gold, three of them earning multiple gold medals. New Zealand Paralympian SophiePascoe led the medal charge with three Golds and three Silvers. The complete list of 2012 swimming medalists that trained in Flagstaff:

Flagstaff, northern Arizona's largest city

with a year-round population of approxi-

mately 57,000, is the home of Northern

Arizona University. Surrounded by pines and

aspens and sitting at the base of the 12,633-

foot San Francisco Peaks, Flagstaff is in the

middle of the Coconino National Forest, the

largest contiguous stand of ponderosa pines

in the world, at an elevation of 7,000 feet

above sea level. The altitude, clean air and

surrounding forest provide an unsurpassed

climate year-round.

Flagstaff’s most attractive quality may be its

four distinctive seasons. In the summer,

Flagstaff is warm and comfortable, boasting

an average daytime high temperature of 80

degrees and an overnight low of 47. The

winters offer sunny days and beautiful snow

scenes. Flagstaff has an average of 288 days

of sunshine each year as well as a mild, four-

season climate that offers excellent condi-

tions for study and recreation.

This college town has a friendly, small-town

atmosphere combined with outstanding

cultural, scientific and recreational opportu-

nities. The variety of cultural resources

includes the Flagstaff Symphony and the

Festival of Native American Arts. The area's

natural and cultural history is represented

by such institutions as the Museum of

Northern Arizona, the Pioneer Historical

Museum and Riordan State Historical Park.

Flagstaff is surrounded by incredible

scenery, including the Grand Canyon

National Park, Lake Powell, Meteor Crater,

the Wupatki Indian ruins and the San

Francisco Peaks. Within a 30-minute drive

from campus are Slide Rock State Park, Oak

Creek Canyon, Sunset Crater, Walnut

Canyon and Lake Mary.

This diverse landscape also offers an excit-

ing array of recreational possibilities, from

hiking and biking to skiing and backpacking.

From rafting down the Colorado River

through the Grand Canyon to hiking

through Sedona’s red rock country south of

Flagstaff, to experiencing the beauty of the

Sonoran Desert in southern Arizona, the

opportunities for outdoor enjoyment are

truly endless.
