This guide is designed to help you—the voter—clearly see how members of the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives voted on housing, consumer needs, and jobs in 2011. Look up your state and locate the names of your senators (listed first and in bold) and representatives. Match the icons below with the icons next to their names to see if they voted in a manner that stands up for the issues you care about.

U.S. SENATE

“American Jobs Act of 2011” (S. 1660)Designed to extend the payroll tax cut to keep money in the pockets of hardworking families and to create job opportunities for the unemployed, low-income individuals, and young people on projects that improve local communities.

U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

Amendment to the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection ActDesigned to dilute the strength of the CFPB by replacing its director position with a committee, giving predatory lenders and scam artists the upper hand. Congressional members with this icon next to their name stood up for consumer protections and voted against this amendment.

NSP Termination Act (H.R. 861)Designed to zero out a final round of much-needed funding for the Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) and then to terminate the program in the midst of the enduring foreclosure crisis.
