“I decided to go to KCC because it was close to home and I knew financially I didn’t want huge student loans when I graduate.”
Brittany is a 2012 graduate of Watseka Community High School and a KCC freshman. She is also a KCC Foundation scholarship recipient, Student Ambassador and student employee at the college.
“My goal is to become an elementary education teacher. I knew after researching several other universities and comparing the costs and program options, that I could achieve that goal and not accrue a lot of student loans by starting at KCC and then transferring to a four-year university.”
“The enrollment process was very easy. The staff and advisors were nice, helpful and available to answer all of my questions.
I love the campus and friendly atmosphere at KCC. I prefer the small class environment and am looking forward to meeting my professors and new people this fall.”

Few things are more important – when it comes to college – than finding a way to pay.
We don’t have space for everything you need to know about financial aid and paying for college.
So, here’s some introductory information and resources to learn more.
Scholarships. Grants. Loans. etc. etc. There are many ways to pay for college. Types of financial aid are the same at just about every college, including KCC: Grants, loans, federal work study and student employment. Scholarships are also offered, and require a separate application. Check out the resources listed here to learn what you really need to know.
Facts:• KCC offers more than 250
scholarships each year. KCC’s Foundation awarded $257,932 in scholarships in 2009-10.
• For 2009-10, 3,302 students (62% of annual credit division enrollment) received financial aid.
Resources:www.fafsa.gov - Fill one out. Please. Regardless of the college you attend, the FAFSA is the form to use to apply for federal financial aid. You’ll need KCC’s Title IV school code: 007690.
www.kcc.edu/financialaid KCC’s financial aid website. It pays to be informed. So, we have details, forms, and more links.

“I am a proud TRiO student and I would not change it for the world. TRiO helped me to find a university to transfer to and also took me on a college visit to talk to an advisor of that university to ensure that every class that I was taking at KCC was going to transfer.
“When I wasn’t at school or work, I was at home studying. I met many individuals who have the same dream and ambition that I have. If I could do it all over again then I would do everything the same.
“I decided to go to KCC because it was very close to home and it was very inexpensive compared to a four year university. Also, I chose to go to KCC because my father graduated from KCC and I wanted to do something that resembled the path he took.
“In five years, I see myself with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, continuing my education; getting one step closer in obtaining my master’s degree in accounting with a minor in economics or finance.”

Nicole Brenneisen“If you have a positive work ethic and self-confi-dence, then you will have no problem succeeding as a college student.
“KCC instructors have given me the individual attention, help and en-couragement I need to reach my goals. I gradu-ated in 2012 from the Radiography program. I attended KCC because of the excellent program they offer. I am continuing at KCC for Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 semesters and will transfer to Gov-ernors State University in the fall of 2013 to obtain a bachelor’s degree in health administration.
“Last year, I was fortu-nate to receive the Cen-tury Club Scholarship. Scholarships take away the stress of paying for college, and also help students create better futures.
Overall, my KCC experi-ence has been wonderful. I am so grateful to attend a college that cares so much for its students.”
