What is the Lead Safe Home Program?
• HUD-funded residential lead remediation program
• Made over 1,850 homes lead-safe statewide since 1996.

Who does the Program Benefit?
• Children and their FamiliesA family is eligible for our help if they are low or
moderate income, have a child under six residing
and live within a designated target area or
have an EBL child
• YOU, the Lead ContractorThe LSHP has provided stable work for Lead Abatement
Contractors since 1997. Average cost per project is $8,000 and we work STATEWIDE. Payments are made quickly and paid from Michigan Department of Treasury.

What Kind of Work Does the LSHP Provide?
• All work is based on Lead Inspection/Risk Assessment Report
• Includes components such as:Window and Door Replacement
Siding
Porch Work
Painting/Encapsulation
Other Lead Work
Healthy Homes Work (NEW!)

We Want YOU!
• You may apply twice yearly (December and June) to work for our program.
• Application available online at www.michigan.gov/leadsafe
• Applications reviewed for approval within 2 weeks of application close date.

Pre-Qualifications
Must be Lead Abatement Contractor and RRP certified
Must have one full year of experience as Abatement Contractor OR Lead Professional
Must carry appropriate insurance (next slide)Must be licensed Residential Builder (LARA)Must not have had citation within last year 3
years or been terminated from local program.

Insurance Requirements
• General Liability Insurance: $1,000,000• Worker’s Compensation• Lead/Pollution Liability Coverage: $1,000,000
(must have at least applied for policy at time of application, must have in place at project award)
• Must submit copy of insurance documents (policy and ACCORD certificate) at project award
