Marler graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in mili- tary discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fit- ness, and basic warfare princi- ples and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. By ROBERT GARRETT Special to Headlight The Morrilton Lil Pups con- tinued their winning ways Saturday, winning all four games played at Clinton. Third-grade Lil Pups (3-2) after an 0-2 start, won their third consecutive game shutting out the Yellow Jackets 12-0. Bo McElroy and Jake Session scored for the Lil Pups. The fourth-grade Lil Pups (4- 0) scored on a 60-yard touch- down run by Reggie Toney in the second half and won their game 7-0. The fifth-grade Lil Pups (4-0) scored two touchdowns with Carnell Green, and touchdowns by Shacoby Criswell and Jalcolby Criswell for a 26-6 win. The fifth grade team has scored 124 points while giving up only six points so far this season. The sixth-graders completed the sweep with a 27-6 win. By HOLLY PHILLIPS V arsity Cheer Coach Morrilton High School’s 2012 Homecoming theme is “Devil Dogs: The Greatest Show on Turf.” The traditional Homecoming Pageant will be held in the Morrilton Junior High School gym on Oct. 5 beginning at 2 p.m. followed by the pep rally. The evening pre-game show is scheduled for 6:30 at Devil Dog Stadium. The 2012 Homecoming Queen is senior, Paige Nicole Bowens, daughter of Rita Bowens and James Hall. She has two brothers, Jamison Hall and Carlton Bowens. Paige has competed in the Special Olympics for six years and Classroom Creations for four years. She was a Homecoming Class Maid and Activities Court Representative in 2011. She is an MHS Student Pride Award winner, and she qualified for state in Special Olympics Bowling and Track and Field. Some of Paige’s favorites include the color blue, pork chops, Tyler Perry, Justin Bieber, and lis- tening to country, pop, R&B, and gospel music. Paige’s favorite per- son is her grandmother, Helen Bowens, and she attends Greater Union Hill Baptist Church, where she directs the choir. Paige is a very energetic and strong-minded person who enjoys shopping and meeting new people. She says that because this is her last Homecoming at Morrilton High School, she will cherish this night forever. “I just want to say thank you to the class of 2012 for selecting me as your queen,” she says, “God bless you all.” Paige loves her many wonderful friends, and will always strive to be the best because, she says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” She is being escorted by Senior Devil Dog football players #5 Jamar Criswell, son of Amanda and Carnell Green and BJ Criswell and #7 Juwaan Trezvant, son of James and Tiffany Trezvant. Senior Honor Maid, Desiree Everette, is the daughter of Dennis Everette and Deborah Everette. She has two brothers, Darian and Demario Hammons. Desiree is very active on the cam- pus of MHS. She is a member of the Math Club, Beta Club, Fashion Club, Science Club, Student Council, Library Club, Photography Club, Poetry Club, Music Club, Art Club, and Spanish Club. She also dances on the MHS Devil Dolls Dance Team. Desiree attends Morrilton First Assembly of God. She loves to dance and play gui- tar. Among Desiree’s favorites are cheetah print, crawfish, the show “Teen Wolf,” Channing Tatum, the musical group Skillet, and her friend Tatyana Wimbley. Desiree considers herself nice and fun. She says, “I always try to put a smile on everyone’s face, even if I’m not smiling myself.” She says helping and reaching out is what she’s best at because no one can help everybody, but everybody can help someone. Desiree is being escorted by Senior Devil Dog football player #25 LaQuanta Canady, son of Lester Canady and Leisa Green. Alli Wilson, Senior Honor Maid, is the daughter of Mike Wilson and Londa Carroll. She has two sisters and four brothers. Alli plays volleyball and soccer, is a cheerleader, and is a member of the Beta Club, Youth Advisory Council, Spanish Club, Math Club, and Science Club. Her favorite color is purple. Some of her favorites include pasta, Matthew McConaughey, all kinds of music, and her MeMaw. Alli attends University Church of Christ. Her plans for the future include attending University of Central Arkansas to major in nurs- ing. She says, “It is such an honor to be a part of this year’s Homecoming Court. Some of my best memories will always be our great pep rallies and cheering for the dogs.” She is being escorted by senior Devil Dog football player #79 Gilberto Garcia, son of Arturo and Ernestina Garcia. Junior Honor Maid, Hart Beijen, is the daughter of Brian and Patti Beijen. She has one sis- ter, Breanna. Hart is very active in various clubs and organizations at MHS including the Beta Club, Science Club, Spanish Club, FCA,and student council. Hart also plays volleyball and softball. She was 2012 All Conference Softball, a 2012 Student Pride Winner, 2011 Alternate Miss GMA, and 2011 Homecoming Class Maid. She attends Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, where she participates in the youth group and GMA. She enjoys four-wheeler riding, hanging out with friends and fam- ily, and tubing and skiing at the lake. Her other favorites include the colors turquoise and lime green, Mexican Food, the show “Pretty Little Liars,” and country music, especially Rascal Flatts. Hart describes herself as a small town girl who loves God, her fam- ily, and her friends. “I believe in laughing until it hurts,” Hart says, “even if it’s at my own jokes.” She is being escorted by Senior Devil Dog football player #8 Avery Hawkins, son of Kendrick and Barbra Hawkins. Lauren Simer, Junior Honor Maid, is the daughter of Sonny 2012 MHS Homecoming Royalty and Tonya Simer. She has two sis- ters. Here at MHS, Lauren is in Beta club and Science Club. She plays softball, she is a cheerleader, and she has been named All American Cheerleader three times. Some of her favorites include the colors lime green and orange, deer meat, Channing Tatum, and music group One Direction. She enjoys hunting and four-wheeler riding, and she attends Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church where she is active in youth group and GMA. Her favorite person is her Papa, Wayne Smith. She describes herself as a loud girl who loves to meet new people, learn, and have fun. Lauren is escorted by Senior Devil Dog football player #27, Devon Cates, son of Jason and Sarah Lawlis. Jayla Criswell, Sophomore Honor Maid, is the daughter of Vondra Rainey and Jerry Criswell. She has one brother, JayShawn. Jayla plays basketball, she is in the band, she is a majorette, and is a member of the Beta Club. Some of Jayla’s favorites are the colors turquoise and pink, any kind of chicken, the show “Toddlers and Tiaras,” and Chris Brown. When asked who her favorite person is, Jayla said “My mom because she loves me for who I am.” Jayla describes herself as a very outgo- ing person who loves to help peo- ple and make them laugh. Jayla is escorted by Senior Devil Dog football player #2 Rayhem Dudley, son of Eddie and Angelic Hill. Sophomore Honor Maid, Morgan Mariah Mullins, is the daughter of Craig and Jennifer Mullins. She has one sister, Alyssa. Morgan is a cheerleader, plays volleyball, and is in Spanish and Beta Clubs. Morgan is on the honor roll, she is featured in Who’s Who Among American High School Students, and she was selected as Freshman Class Favorite last year. Morgan loves riding horses, going to deer camp, and going to church with her Nana. Some of her other favorites are the colors purple and blue, country music (especially Brantly Gilbert and George Strait), and the shows “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette”. Morgan says her favorite person is Alex Ponce because he is always there for her and can always make her laugh. She also loves her family because, she says, “They’re the best!” She hopes to attend the University of Arkansas after grad- uating. Morgan is escorted by Senior Devil Dog football player #43 Timmy Wilson, son of Ed and KC Wilson. Hannah Mason, Senior Class Maid, is the daughter of David and Cecilia Student Council for 3 years, and she is a member of the library, science, and art clubs. She was named Junior Class Favorite last year, is currently editor of the yearbook, and was recently named Miss MHS by her classmates. She enjoys crafting, doing nails, and spending time with family and friends. Among her favorite things are the colors turquoise and pink, Italian food, the show “Hollywood Heights,” and the musical group Paramore. Hannah’s favorite people are her parents, her Aunt Carolyn, and her boyfriend Preston Long. She is escorted by Senior Devil Dog football player #65 Anfernee Foster, son of Michael Foster and Ginella English. Senior Class Maid, Karen Rosas, is the daughter of Marisela and Agustin Rosas. She has two siblings: Jovanna and Agustin. Karen is in the science club and the math club. She plays soccer and runs cross country because, Karen says, “I absolutely LOVE to run!” She also loves the color blue, Mexican Food, Tony Hawkins, the show “Criminal Minds,” and the music group One Direction. She is a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Karen says it is an honor to be class maid, and wishes the football players good luck tonight. Karen is escorted by Senior Devil Dog football player #58 Devonte Walls, son of Lorene Walls and Bruce Morgan. Eulandrea Hilton, Junior Class Maid, is the daughter of Ruthie Knighten and Gerald Hilton. She has two siblings, Jenquil Knighten and Quanyea Hilton. Eulandrea participates in the photography club and Skills USA. Among Eulandrea’s favorites are the color red, gumbo, actress Lauren London, and R&B and Hip Hop Music. She loves shopping, play- ing basketball, singing, and danc- ing. She attends Restoration House of Priase. Eulandrea describes herself as a very goofy person who smiles a lot. She is escorted by Senior Devil Dog Football player #51 Dominique Clemons, son of Brian and Christina Stubbs. Junior Class Maid, Chloe Vaught, is the daughter of Chris Vaught and Janel Tilley. She has six siblings: Darren, JB, Wesely, Jordan, Joseph, and Sophia. Chloe participates at MHS on the volley- ball team, softball team, student council, FCA, Skills USA, and the Beta, Science, and Math clubs. Chloe enjoys hanging out with friends and family and driving her bug. She attends church at Antioch Baptist where she is active in the youth group. Chloe likes the color yellow, BBQ nachos, and country music. She says her favorite person is her Daddy. She is escorted by Senior Devil Dog Football Player #20 Montrel Hood, son of Natasha Byers. Sophomore Class Maid, Andrea Herrera, is the daughter of Ines Vazquez and David Herrera. She has one sister, Jackeline. Andrea is in the Spanish and Career clubs, and is on the MHS Honor Roll. She goes to church at Sacred Heart. She loves the color red, tamales, all kinds of music, and her Mom. She also enjoys doing hair, spending time with friends, and cheering on the Devil Dogs. She hopes to attend Beauty School after graduating. Andrea is escorted by Senior Devil Dog Football player #67 Dalton Burnett, son of Christine Riley and Charles Burnett. Brailee Jade Starr, Sophomore Class Maid, is the daughter of Mike and Glenda Starr. She has two brothers, Chad and Duncan. Brailee is a member of the Beta Club, Fishing Club, and Spanish Club. She attends First Church of the Nazarene where she is active in the youth group. She enjoys mudding, riding four-wheelers, and hanging out with friends. Among Brailee’s favorites are the color purple, steak, the show “Adventure Time,” and country music, especially Thompson Square. Her favorite people are her Mamaw, her Mom, and Morgan Mullins. She is also escorted by Senior Devil Dog Football player #67 Dalton Burnett, son of Christine Riley and Charles Burnett. This year’s MHS Homecoming Flower Girl is Brenn Williams, and the Crown Bearer is Talan Bratton. Flower Girl, Miss Brenn Anders Williams is the daughter of MHS teacher Lucy Williams and her husband Jim. Brenn is in first grade at Morrilton Primary School, where she is in Ms. Washam’s class. She attends Perrville First Baptist Church. She has one sister named Avery who is 8 years old. Brenn loves play dates, family movie nights, and watching the show “Ant Farm.” She loves to make people laugh and is friendly to everyone she meets. When Brenn grows up, she want to be a Kindergarten teacher. Our Crown Bearer is Jeffery Talan Bratton, son of English teacher Jamie Bratton and her hus- band Joe. He is a student in Mrs. Boyd’s first grade class at Morrilton Primary School, and attends First Presbyterian Church. Talan’s favorites include the color green, cheese sticks from Sonic, Sponge Bob, and playing with his dogs. Talan loves sports, and he plays soccer, basketball, and base- ball. He enjoys riding his bike, deer hunting, and playing with his little sister Tessa, who is his favorite person. Talan isn’t sure what he wants to be when he grows up, but he knows he wants a college close to home so he can still see his mom and dad. Come on out and support your Devil Dog Football team as they take on the Greenbrier Panthers this Friday night! Come early to see the Morrilton High School 2012 Homecoming Royalty announced and support them,along with the Morrilton High School cheerleaders, drill team, and band. Lil Pups continue to win Pups. Brett Jones also added a touchdown. The Morrilton Lil pups will close out the regular season this Saturday, when they host Vilonia White for homecoming.

Sophomore Honor Maid,Morgan Mariah Mullins, is thedaughter of Craig and JenniferMullins. She has one sister,Alyssa. Morgan is a cheerleader,plays volleyball, and is in Spanishand Beta Clubs. Morgan is on thehonor roll, she is featured in Who’sWho Among American HighSchool Students, and she wasselected as Freshman ClassFavorite last year. Morgan lovesriding horses, going to deer camp,and going to church with herNana. Some of her other favoritesare the colors purple and blue,country music (especially BrantlyGilbert and George Strait), and theshows “The Bachelor” and “TheBachelorette”. Morgan says herfavorite person is Alex Poncebecause he is always there for herand can always make her laugh.

Hannah Mason, Senior ClassMaid, is the daughter of David andCecilia Student Council for 3years, and she is a member of thelibrary, science, and art clubs. Shewas named Junior Class Favoritelast year, is currently editor of theyearbook, and was recently namedMiss MHS by her classmates.

She enjoys crafting, doing nails,and spending time with family andfriends. Senior Class Maid, KarenRosas, is the daughter of Mariselaand Agustin Rosas. She has twosiblings: Jovanna and Agustin.Karen is in the science club andthe math club. She plays soccerand runs cross country because,Karen says, “I absolutely LOVEto run!” She also loves the colorblue, Mexican Food, TonyHawkins, the show “CriminalMinds,” and the music group OneDirection. Flower Girl, Miss Brenn AndersWilliams is the daughter of MHSteacher Lucy Williams and herhusband Jim. Brenn is in firstgrade at Morrilton PrimarySchool, where she is in Ms.Washam’s class. She attendsPerrville First Baptist Church.She has one sister named Averywho is 8 years old. Brenn lovesplay dates, family movie nights,and watching the show “AntFarm.”

She loves to make people laughand is friendly to everyone shemeets. When Brenn grows up, shewant to be a Kindergarten teacher.

Our Crown Bearer is JefferyTalan Bratton, son of Englishteacher Jamie Bratton and her hus-band Joe. He is a student in Mrs.Boyd’s first grade class atMorrilton Primary School, andattends First Presbyterian Church.Talan’s favorites include the colorgreen, cheese sticks from Sonic,Sponge Bob, and playing with hisdogs. Talan loves sports, and heplays soccer, basketball, and base-ball. He enjoys riding his bike,deer hunting, and playing with hislittle sister Tessa, who is hisfavorite person. Talan isn’t surewhat he wants to be when hegrows up, but he knows he wants acollege close to home so he canstill see his mom and dad.
