I am doing Master in LCC (London College of Communication) graphic design majors from January 2012. Also I am working with several Korean company as a freelance graphic designer. In same time I am trying to do many personal project to develop myself.

Motion Sound Waves

Unit 1.1: Design literacy was a first project of master course in London college of communication. Every students had started from three different shapes circle, square, and triangle respectively. I had took a triangle and have to inspired from there. A triangle had changed to a part of music and I tried to express various sounds through different shapes of triangle. This is a process book of this project. Tried to show whole process of development.Also the other final outcome is an animation file named 'Motion sound waves'.

These three books were made from three different essays. I planed to make a editorial format for an essay work. It is based on grids and totally made for texts. In addition I wanted to suggest a fresh use of images. So every pages have their own images that contain meanings.

Unit 1.3 and 2.3 have a same purpose. I had to propose a direction of my major project in LCC through a first essay. Also through second essay, I had to make more definite project. These books have same format and size with 2.2 and tried to deliver my opinion clearly through using of images.

Music graphic

Unit 2.1: Workshop option is a separate class. Students can choose one workshop option for their second semester. I have chosen 'Music graphic' class and made a visual summary book, one album package, and one video file. First project was about a physical album package and second project was about a digital format album.

Design concept is different sizes of album packages. I tried to put whole process of two different work shop projects. So I took a lot of photographs of process and agonized to use of those images.

This is a concept album package. I used actual hard drive to design a special album of daft punk. It has composed by 6 different designed post cards and one coloured hard-drive.

Unit 2.2

Unit 2.2: Design Rhetoric is an visual summary of research. I tried to show almost every research results in this book. Such as survey, field study, and research. In addition through design of this book, I wanted to show an atmosphere of my project. Also I have made a small results of my visual experiments based on research.

Now I am working as a freelance designer in UK in same time with doing MA.Before here, I worked for own design company for a year with several clients and worked in a graphic design company for three years as a main designer. I usually designed movie posters. After those experiences, I had designed a portfolio book to arrange my past careers to apply in LCC and get some design work in London.

A portfolio book contains my work experiences for 4 years in Korea. It had planned by myself even whole printing processes. I wanted to make a characteristic portfolio book, so I spent much time to agonise choosing paper and how to bind book.

I am trying to do some extra personal design works with client work at same time. It makes me more creative and passionate. In addition I always trying to share my personal works with people through exhibition.

20 poster exhibition

I always open a personal exhibition per 2 years. Through gathering extra works such as type design, and illustration. Those small works can be re-created to meaningful works through exhibition by sharing with people. This 20 posters exhibition was composed based on personal illustration works between 2010 and 2011.

I always trying to create new typeface for my personal projects. It is because a typeface can deliver many things even not be written in texts. In my opinion, designer must have responsibility to their works even that is very small detail things. I want to show purpose of design through details. This is a reason why I am trying to make typeface.

This typeface was developed for my portfolio book at year 2011.

This typeface was developed for workshop project named "Music graphic" in LCC at 2012.
