Head Coach Maria Morin

Maria Morin begins her 18th year as the head softball coach at Rhode Island College. Morin has built the RIC softball program into one of the top teams in the nation. She recorded her 400th career win in 2010 and her current career mark is 439-239-4 (.647).

RIC had one of its finest seasons in 2011, as Morin guided the Anchorwomen to a 38-13 overall record. RIC hosted the NCAA Div. III Softball Tournament Providence Regional for the fourth time and lost in the Championship Game to Eastern Connecticut. The team’s 38 wins was the second highest total in program history. It also marked the 13th con-secutive season RIC has won 20 or more games. After dropping the first three games of the campaign, the Anchorwomen established a new school record by winning their next 23 games, surpassing the 2007 edition’s effort by one contest.

In 2010, the Anchorwomen posted a 24-13 overall record. In 2009, the Anchorwomen posted a school-record 42-7 overall mark and established a new program record for Little East Conference wins, logging a 13-1 mark in league action. RIC earned its fifth consecutive Little East Regular Season Championship, fourth straight Little East Tournament

Championship and advanced to the NCAA Div. III Softball Tournament for the fourth straight campaign.Under Morin's guidance, Rhode Island College was

36-9 overall and 12-2 (first place tie) in the Little East Conference in 2008. Rhode Island College hosted and won the NCAA Div. III Softball Tournament New England Regional for the second straight season. The Anchorwomen were one of eight remaining teams that advanced to the National Championships where the club's season came to an end. RIC finished the year ranked 10th in the nation, tying the 2007 edition’s effort for the program's highest ranking ever.

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association named Morin and her staff the New England Coaching Staff of the Year for the second straight campaign.

In 2007, Rhode Island College posted a 41-7 over-all record and a 12-2 (first place) mark in the Little East Conference. Rhode Island College hosted the NCAA Div. III Softball Tournament New England Regional for the first time in school history and won the region. The Anchorwomen were one of eight remaining teams that advanced to the National Championships where the club's season came to an end.

In 2006, Rhode Island College went 35-8-1 overall and 11-2-1 (first place) in the Little East Conference. RIC won the LEC Regular Season Championship for the second consecutive season and captured the program's first-ever LEC Tournament Championship, which sent the Anchorwomen to the NCAA Div. III Softball Tournament for the first time in school history. She was named the Little East Conference Softball Co-Coach of the Year, the third time (2005, 2003) in her career she's received this accolade.

Morin led the Anchorwomen to the 2005 ECAC N.E. Div. III Softball Championship, the second such title in the program's history (1986). The Anchorwomen went 28-15 overall record and 12-2 (first place) in the Little East Conference. She also led RIC to its first-ever LEC Regular Season Championship by winning the most conference games (12) in school history.

While an undergraduate at Skidmore College, Morin was an outstanding pitcher for the Thoroughbreds from 1991 until 1994. She captained the team her junior and senior seasons and was the team's Most Valuable Player in 1992, 1993 and 1994.
