Undergraduate

The foodservice industry is the nation’s fastest growing area in the hospitality industry, and this program will assist you in becoming a top job candidate. A passion for food is a must, but you need more to succeed—business skills, knowledge about franchises and budgets, and the successful application of innovative design.

Graduates of this program have gone on

to work successfully in positions such as:

• Wine steward

• Director of catering

• Restaurant manager

• Director of hotel foodservice

The first of its kind in the U.S., our event management program teaches you to plan and execute a wide variety of events including intimate gatherings, conferences, conventions, meetings and weddings.

Requiring attention to detail and creativity, this program is enhanced by curriculum that delves even deeper, covering areas from food management and marketing to risk management and communications.

Graduates of this program have gone on

to work successfully in positions such as:

• Director of events

• Concert manager

• Event design specialist

• Sporting events manager

• Wedding planner

The program challenges you in the classroom by teaching you principles and practices, including accounting and economics, tourism, entertainment, and the history and culture of wine.

This major covers all facets of hospitality, but also allows you to specialize in tracks such as golf and club management, or theme park and attraction management.

Our faculty members represent 15 countries and are known worldwide for their research, teaching skills and professional experience in the hospitality industry. Many are prior executives in restaurants, hotels, theme parks and attractions. In addition to their teaching experience, they have planned major conventions and events, and held leadership roles in numerous professional associations.

Working alongside accomplished faculty, you will graduate with the latest knowledge, valuable work experience and industry connections.

We build these industry partnerships in order to create a campus unlike anything you’ve seen—you’ll learn in specially designed facilities such as the Disney Dining Room, the Universal Orlando Foundation Library, the Anheuser-Busch Beer and Wine Lab, the Darden Auditorium, and the Central Florida Hotel and Lodging Association Executive Development Center.

Rosen College provides unique educational experience and industry exposure for those who are passionate about the hospitality industry.

You will be required to complete paid hospitality work experiences that allow you to apply the knowledge you’re gaining in the classroom. Through three internship courses, you will gain major-related work experience, access to professional relationships, and clarification of your academic and career goals.

Twice per year, we host a career and experiential learning fair. You will be able to connect with 60-plus employers who are seeking students for internships, part-time opportunities and full-time employment in the industry.

PolyU’s School of Hotel & Tourism Management has received international recognition for its forward-thinking teaching methods and curriculum. With faculty from 18 countries, the curriculum was designed with input from international industry leaders.

Specializing in tourism, the Management Center Innsbruck provides a mentor, hosts guest speakers and offers extracurricular opportunities for learning. Nearby cities include Munich, Milan, Prague and Zurich.

When you apply to UCF, indicate on your application that your intended major is event management, hospitality management, or restaurant and foodservice management. The college doesn’t require a separate application, but students are encouraged to apply early.

NEED-BASED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

These funds are awarded to students on the basis of their financial need. Awards may be provided as grants, low-interest loans or via a work-study program.

THE CAMPUS VISIT EXPERIENCE

See Rosen College’s resort-style campus for yourself. The Rosen Campus Visit Experience includes an information session with an admissions representative, as well as a tour of the campus and the Rosen College Apartments.

Rosen College tours take place Mondays and Fridays at 1 p.m., except on holidays and semester breaks. Reservations are advised. To reserve a tour, go to hospitality.ucf.

THE UCF AND ROSEN CAMPUS VISIT EXPERIENCE

You can tour both the UCF main campus and the Rosen College campus the same day. Plan your visit to UCF’s Orlando campus on a Monday or Friday at 10 a.m. Following that tour, you can visit Rosen College for the 1 p.m. campus tour. Each visit offers an information session, followed by a walking tour. UCF tour reservations are required and can be made at admissions.ucf.edu/visit. Rosen College tours must be reserved separately at hospitality.ucf.edu/rosen-

campus-tour.

ROSEN COLLEGE OPEN HOUSE EVENTS

During our Open House events, Rosen College opens its doors for a full day, providing visitors with information about student services, financial aid and admissions. Visitors can also meet with faculty members in a classroom setting, tour the campus and the Rosen College Apartments, and get firsthand information from current students. Visit hospitality.
