Introduction

2 2012 Year In Review

To our customers,

From all of us at HigherEdJobs, we’d like to thank you again for using our service to attract the very best higher education faculty and administrators. HigherEdJobs was fortunate to enjoy yet another record-breaking year in 2012. We surpassed many milestones last year, including:

• 100,000 Jobs Posted - For the first time in company history, HigherEdJobs surpassed 100,000 new jobs posted for a calendar year. At any given time, we now list around 20,000 jobs from colleges and universities across the U.S. and around the world.

• 5,300+ Colleges and Universities – Over 5,300 colleges and universities recruited with HigherEdJobs during 2012, smashing our previous record of 4,700. Whether you are one of the thousands who have recruited with HigherEdJobs for years or if you are new to our service, it is our honor to serve you.

• 98.9% Would Recommend HigherEdJobs – I’d have to say one of more gratifying moments of 2012 was seeing that 98.9% of the respondents to our customer survey would “recommend HigherEdJobs to a colleague who needed to advertise a higher education job opening.” We work hard to make HigherEdJobs not only your most effective recruitment tool but your favorite company to work with. Seeing this sort of response from you, our customers, makes all the effort worthwhile.

As great as 2012 was, however, it’s time for us to roll up our sleeves, get to work, and make sure 2013 is our best year yet. We have big things in store for 2013 to help make HigherEdJobs even more effective. An overwhelming majority of the respondents to our 2012 customer survey (see pages 6-12) indicated that, compared to other sources, HigherEdJobs attracted the best candidates, provided the best value, was the easiest to use, and provided the best customer service. As gratifying as that was, however, we remain committed to improving HigherEdJobs and making it even better.

Best wishes for a meaningful and productive 2013!

Sincerely,

John Ikenberry, Ph.D.President and Co-FounderHigherEdJobs

HigherEdJobs is able to launch a school’s presence as a top employer by using social media sites like LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook with the HigherEdJobs Social Media Consulting package. This will enable employers to start engaging and connecting with potential hires in ways traditional media cannot.

The six steps of this service include:• Consultation• Account Creation• Community Development• Content Management• Training• Support for One Month

Social Media Consulting

HigherEdJobs launched several new features in 2012. Consistently providing employers and job seekers with new products is one of the reasons why HigherEdJobs is the industry leader in higher education recruitment.

Job seekers don’t just scour the Internet for job postings. They also seek information and tactics to build their careers. That’s why HigherEdJobs began hosting webinars in 2012, where job seekers could view online presentations and interact with experts in the field.

We held two webinars in 2012, one titled “Seven Steps to a Better Job Search” with career expert Peter Weddle of Weddles.com and one called “Higher Ed’s Impact on the Elections” with author, political expert, and Harvard senior lecturer David C. King.

Already planned for 2013 is a webinar for student affairs professionals called “Successful Careers in Student Affairs” with NASPA President Kevin Kruger. An archive of all webinars is available online so visitors can access the webinars on demand from our website.

In May 2012, HigherEdJobs enabled users to upload their résumés or CVs in their MyHigherEdJobs accounts. Previously, the only way they could save a résumé/CV was using an online form. Now, they can simply upload a Word document or a PDF.

Job seekers can store their documents, created the way they want them, and they can easily access them when applying for jobs.

From May 19 through the end of the year, a total of 45,744 résumés/CVs were uploaded, including 14,180 in the first 43 days. Users continued to create their résumés/CVs using the online form, but since we debuted the upload feature about 85 percent of all new résumés/CVs were uploaded.

The HigherEdJobs Résumé Database includes over 164,000 résumés and CVs.
