Cotuit Hall Community Newsletter I would like to take this opportunity to thank you on behalf of EF International Academy for attending the second of two public consultation events held at Cotuit Hall on 20th / 21st April 2012. Over the course of the two days we had over 50 people attend and view our proposed plans for the long term future of our secondary school at Cotuit. On page 2 of this newsletter you will see a summary of the responses received via our questionnaire. Our demolition contractor, Squibb have completed their work and I would like to take this opportunity to inform you that we have appointed Barley McNaughton to undertake the internal re-fit of the existing buildings at Cotuit Hall. Their contract will commence on the 14th May 2012 for 16 weeks. We have scheduled a pre-commencement meeting this week with Barley McNaughton at which we will be reinforcing our commitment to effectively manage the site during our refurbishment works. In addition to this, I would like to inform you that a planning application for the proposed development of Cotuit Hall is about to be submitted. As part of our planning application we will explain the significant economic benefit to the local economy from our school which we estimate to be £12 million per annum. As previously advised to you, I am available should you wish to contact me – [email protected] or alternatively you can contact our Architects, West Waddy ADP, at [email protected] Kind regards, Anna Ireland EF International Academy Project Manager Dear Neighbour, Second Consultation Exhibition Thank you for attending

of the Cotuit Hall Community Newsletter. Our newletters will be published quarterly and it is my personal intention to reach out to you over these coming months during my regular visits to the Cotuit campus to keep you informed as our plans develop. I welcome the opportunity to meet with you, whether at a scheduled community liaison meeting or individually over a cup of tea. A few weeks ago, I met with some neighbours at a meeting with the EF International Language school where we discussed some concerns from local residents which arisen over the summer months. Steps have been taken to address each of the concerns and I invite you to continue to contact me directly should the need arise.

Since acquiring Cotuit Hall in May, we began using the site over the summer months for both residential and academic purposes and are currently conducting a number of our A-Level and International Baccalaureate classes on the campus. The welfare and safety of the students in our care is paramount and in turn we require them to respect their surroundings and encourage them to integrate into the local community accordingly.

Our students are involved in a number of regular and ongoing community service activities as part of the education at EF International Academy. Most recently, our students participated in the ‘Clean Up the World Weekend’. ‘Clean Up the World’ is a community based environmental campaign that inspires and empowers communities from every corner of the globe to clean up and conserve their environment. As part of

the campaign’s flagship ‘Clean Up the World Weekend’, the EF International Academy teams and staff worked on cleaning up Pullens Lane, Headington Hill Park, Cuckoo Lane and South Park. Over 150 bags of rubbish was collected by a team of 130 EF International Academy students and staff during this event.

With nearly 40 nationalities represented in our current EF IA Oxford student body, we continue to look for opportunities where we can integrate our students into the local community. Ted McGrath, Head Mistress of EF IA Oxford, and I would welcome ideas for any projects or suggestions you may have for further community volunteer work in the area.

As our design plans for Cotuit Hall develop, we will share these with you and I look forward to hearing your feedback and answering any questions you may have. I will be in Oxford frequently over the upcoming months, so please do feel free to contact me at [email protected] or on my mobile at 07917 712317 and I would be more than happy to meet with you.
