WHAT IS NOBODY’S PERFECT PARENTING?
Nobody's Perfect brings parents together to discuss and share experiences of
parenting. It was developed for parents with children ages zero to five. The
program provides a safe place for parents needing support, and greater access
to parenting resources. Since its beginning, Nobody’s Perfect (NPP) has had
a profound impact on the development of community-based parenting
education in Canada. Many other programs have adapted its participant-
centered approach, based on respect and support for parents.
Nobody’s Perfect is evidence based and is deemed best practice by the
Public Health Agency of Canada. NPP is supported by the Public Health
Agency of Canada and is funded by Healthy Child Manitoba. Youville
Centre provides the Provincial Coordinator with administrative support
and office and training space.
HIGHLIGHTS FROM 2013 - 2014
698 parents were reported having participated in a Nobody’s Perfect Series.
Over 1200 parent kits were distributed for free to Nobody’s Perfect
Facilitators across the province.
80 new NPP facilitators were trained including additional trainings for the
Provincial-wide Aboriginal Head Start Programs, Mount Carmel Clinic Multi-
Cultural Wellness program and 17 more were trained in Nunavut by our
Manitoba Trainers.
NPP Manitoba developed a Newcomer Tool-kit for program facilitators and
offered Professional Development opportunities across Manitoba. This
project was in partnership with Mosaic Newcomer Family Resource Network
and their wonderful Mentor and Mentee Facilitators!
Project funding was made available through FRP Canada (Canadian
Association of Family Resource Programs) by the Public Health Agency of
Canada to provide training, and re-certification opportunities for program
facilitators, along with other professional development and promotion of
Nobody’s Perfect in the province of Manitoba

Manitoba is the only province with its own Nobody’s
Perfect website. This website was updated. It is
more interactive and user friendly for parents and
facilitators. Parents, Social Workers, support staff
etc. use the “find a group” link frequently. Funds
this year were made available from PHAC to convert
the website to a National Knowledge Sharing Forum
for all Nobody’s Perfect Coordinators, Trainers and
Facilitators, as well as for the general public.
Manitoba remains the host and have its own pages.
Communication for Facilitators, Parents and the world!
Facilitators continue to receive email information which include notices of upcoming
Professional Development opportunities, summaries of the Brown Bag PD sessions,
announcements from Healthy Child Manitoba, resource information etc. Information is
also posted on the website along with Steering committee meeting dates.
To help promote the program, NPP Manitoba has a Twitter feed @NPPManitoba and
Facebook page Nobody's Perfect Parenting Manitoba. Watch for our
#tips4parentsthursdays posts! NPP Manitoba has also created a YouTube Channel at
Nobody’s Perfect Parenting Manitoba .

Parent kits – Revisions, Storage and distribution
The Public Health Agency of Canada have completed the revisions of the parent kits. The process has been long and frustrating with delays on the Federal Government end. We anticipate the kits to be available in late 2014.
Regional Health Authorities of Manitoba (RHAM) is responsible for storage and
distribution of resources. RHAM has contracted Materials Distribution Agency (MDA) to
implement this task. Resources are only available to active facilitators and they are
provided free of charge. MDA sends monthly reports to the coordinator who monitors
the supply of resources in stock and places new orders as needed. The coordinator is
the only authorized person to order the resources from MDA.
