ORVing in Michigan State Parks• Clear Lake State Park is one of the few state parks where ORV users can ride
from their campsite to a trail head and back. No towing!
• Baraga State Park recently opened a new 35-mile ORV route connecting to Twin Lakes State Park.
• Ride the Bill Nichols multi-use trail from your Twin Lakes State Park campsite to Copper Harbor or all the way to the Wisconsin state line.
• Muskellonge Lake State Park’s Pine Ridge Trail is a 49-mile stretch of cycle/ATV trail connecting to the Two-Hearted Trail.
• Silver Lake ORV area in Silver Lake State Park offers the only dune riding in Michigan. About 450 acres are available for ORVing.
Take in These Scenic Sites• One of upper Michigan’s most
picturesque waterfalls, Agate Falls is located on the middle branch of the Ontonagon River near Trout Creek.
• Interlochen State Park-Launch your boat from Green Lake, then listen to the summer music concerts at Interlochen Center for the Arts.
• Bond Falls in Paulding tumbles over a thick belt of fractured rock, dividing it into many small cascades.
• Wagner Falls in Munising is nestled among virgin pine and hemlock trees. A half-mile trail from a parking area leads to an observation deck.
• Laughing Whitefish Falls near Sundel is the tallest waterfall in Michigan. Foot trails, a picnic area and observation decks are nearby.
• Sturgeon Point juts into Lake Huron
where waves hide a long, shallow reef extending a mile past visible land. Visit the historic lighthouse.
Rustic Camping in the State Forests• Lake Margrethe Campground near the Manistee and Au Sable Rivers
offers great canoeing opportunities. Reservations accepted at this campground.
• The six Little Presque Isle cabins near Marquette offer rustic log cabin getaways among the picturesque woodlands.
• Big Bear Lake Campground offers 30 sites on the sandy, north shore of Big Bear Lake near Gaylord.
• Negwegon Back Country Campsites offer four hike-in only campsites in a rustic area of Alpena County.
• Elk Hill Equestrian Campground is conveniently located next to the Shore-to-Shore Riding/Hiking Trail.
Disc Golf• Fort Custer Recreation Area’s front nine mixes open holes with elevation
and technical shots. The back nine’s fairways have a links-style layout.
• Clear Lake State Park’s new nine-hole course, “The Memory,” plays through wooded terrain that skirts the edge of the lake. This course is now wheelchair-accessible thanks to the stone pathway between holes.
• Holly Recreation Area has a few holes in open meadows, but is mostly a wooded course. There’s an option to play 18 or 24 holes.
• Newaygo State Park offers 18 holes on the park’s pro-quality course. The tight fairways make it a grueling challenge.
• Sleepy Hollow State Park offers a good mix of holes featuring technical, wooded and open fairways. Elevation and water also are factors.

Your next adventure is waiting for you at www.michigan.gov/stateparks
Michigan Trails WeekEach September Michigan Trails Week pays tribute to our vast and varied network of motorized, non-motorized and water trails with events in parks and communities around the state.
Mountain bike the Keewenaw PeninsulaMountain bikers can have a field day riding the Keewenaw Peninsula in the Upper Peninsula. Try the ride north from Brockway Mountain for views of Copper Harbor and Lake Superior. Include a stay at McLain or Fort Wilkins State Parks.
Shore-to-Shore TrailThe Michigan Shore-to-Shore Trail, also known as the Michigan Riding and Hiking Trail, is a 220-mile trail that runs along the Lower Peninsula between Empire on Lake Michigan and Oscoda on Lake Huron. This non-morotized trail is open to equestrians and hikers, but not bicycles.
First-Time Camper ProgramDon’t know the first thing about setting up a tent or building a campfire? Let a park ranger and our First Time Camper Program show you the ropes. You’ll wonder why you didn’t do this a lot sooner.
Rose Lake Shooting RangeThe DNR-staffed Rose Lake shooting range near Bath, Michigan, offers 35 stations suitable for rifles, muzzle loaders, handguns and shotguns (with slugs only). A 10-station Hand Trap Range (shotguns/clay targets) and an archery range also are available.
Half-Off Boating Slip RentalsYour next big fishing trip just got better. Slip & Site saves 50% off boat slip fees when you camp and dock at nearby harbors. Available at Cheboygan, Fort Wilkins, Port Crescent, Tawas, Wells and Wilderness State Parks.
Birding at Tawas Point State ParkDuring the annual migrations, Tawas Point State Park is one of the hottest birding spots in the Midwest. Birding enthusiasts flock there mid-May to Mid-June to spot the many species that stop to rest there before working their way north or south.
Deluxe Cabins at Holly Recreation AreaTwo new family-friendly cabins at Holly Recreation Area are taking “camping” to a whole new comfort level with two bedrooms, a kitchen, living area and indoor bathroom.

The Park Visitor Welcome Map is created at no cost to the state of Michigan or taxpayers. Funding is generously provided by our partners, highlighted here in this map. In addition, 20% of the net proceeds are donated back to directly benefit Michigan State Parks & Recreation Areas. Supporting our partners is a great way to say “thank you” for their contribution to your state parks. For more information about the 20% For Parks program and your parks, please visit www.parkvisitor.com.
Partners Give Back
The Park Visitor Welcome Map is created by Good Solutions Group in partnership with Michigan
State Parks & Recreation Areas. Nothing in this map should be taken to imply endorsement of products, services, or activities of partners by any governmental agency. To become a partner, call (626) 229-9991 or visit www.goodsolutionsgroup.com for more information..
