3.5 or 3.7-litre, 24-Valve, VTEC® V6 Engine

At the core of an advanced driving experience is

an advanced engine and the TL has two for you

to choose from. Standard in the TL, but not at all

standard, is an adrenaline boosting 3.5-litre,

24-valve, VTEC V6 engine. TL models with Super

Handling All-Wheel Drive™ are upgraded to

a 3.7-litre, 24-valve, VTEC V6 engine. Both are

forged in aluminum for lighter weight and

improved durability. Both feature Multi-Point

Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI®) for

increased fuel-efficiency while still providing

optimal power output. And both are designed

to deliver exhilaration at the push of a button.

Generous Horsepower and Torque

Whether it’s the 305 hp and 273 lb.-ft. of torque

produced by the available 3.7-litre VTEC power

plant, or the 280 hp and 254 lb.-ft. of torque

imparted by the 3.5-litre VTEC engine, the TL will

never leave you looking for power. Stick with the

standard 6-speed automatic transmission to

further enhance performance and fuel efficiency,

or form an even closer bond to your TL with the

increased control that comes from the available

Paddle Shifters

Racing-inspired paddle shifters mounted intuitively

behind the TL’s leather-wrapped steering wheel

not only pair the excitement of manual gear

shifting with the performance of an already

quick-shifting 6-speed automatic transmission,

Sport Suspension

The TL’s 4-wheel independent front double-

wishbone and rear multi-link suspension system

offers you the kind of stability and flat cornering

response you might expect – but have probably

never truly felt. The front suspension utilizes

a short upper arm for maximum grip and turning

compression while a high-placed lower suspension

arm delivers superb vehicle control with a stiffer

steering feel. The rear suspension features a

precision pillow joint for enhanced handling and

stability. Together, they add up to give you a

more personal connection with the road and

a more confident feeling behind the wheel.

Electronic Power Steering (EPS)

At high speeds, you need performance steering,

at low speeds you need maneuverability, at any

speed you need a steering system that reacts to

your every move. The TL’s speed-sensing Electronic

Power Steering (EPS) system does just that, giving

you ease of control through tight city turn-arounds,

bending back roads, sweeping highway curves

and every turn in between.

SH-AWD®

Imagine heading into a less then perfect cornering

situation, knowing that your car will handle it

perfectly. That’s the luxury a driver has behind the

wheel of a TL with available Super Handling

All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD). This innovative system

detects road conditions and reacts accordingly by

distributing torque between front and rear wheels,

as well as between left and right rear-wheels as

needed. Accelerate through a corner and the

outside wheel gets up to 100% of the rear-wheel

torque and is rotated faster than the inside

cornering wheel, providing greater turning force

and an incredibly stable corner line. The result of

SH-AWD technology is a continuously smooth ride

with enhanced traction, a higher level of control,

and the increased confidence to not just turn the

next corner, but to take it.

HandsFreeLink™ and Bluetooth®-enabled Technology

Let your TL extend your connections beyond the

road without you ever having to take your

concentration off of it. Simply program and link

your Bluetooth-enabled wireless device to the

HandsFreeLink bilingual mobile phone interface

to make, receive and transfer calls from your

phone, over the audio system, without having

to remove your hands from the steering wheel.

Once programmed, your mobile device will

respond to voice activation, so all you have to

do is say the word and your TL will make sure

you’re always in touch.

Available Satellite-Linked Navigation System

Using satellite-linked GPS technology, the TL’s

available Acura Navigation System can pinpoint

your location almost anywhere in North America.

With trilingual voice-recognition software,

recognizing up to 800 verbal commands, the

system can deliver real-time, easy to follow driving

directions by voice as well as with an on-screen

map display. Accessing its search directory,

the system can show you the most direct route,

offer an alternative route when needed and

even use the Zagat® Survey ratings to help you

find a restaurant when you decide it’s time to

stop and eat.

Blind Spot Information (BSI) System*

Available exclusively with the TL SH-AWD Elite

Package, the blind spot information (BSI) system

acts as your expanded peripheral vision – using

specialized radar technology to alert you of

objects moving, at both high and low speeds, in

adjacent lanes. Indicator lights appear when the

system detects a vehicle entering either of your

blind spots, and begin flashing if you use your turn

signal to indicate a move toward the direction of

the detected vehicle. * Does not replace the driver’s responsibility to exercise due care

Rearview Camera*

Available with the TL Technology and Elite

Packages, a rearview camera located in the rear

spoiler gives you a view you wouldn’t otherwise

have, that of the area directly behind you. A full-

colour image is displayed on the navigation

system screen and steering guidelines can be

shown to further establish your sense of space.

Like so many other features of the TL, this too

is intuitive, automatically activating itself when

When it came to crafting the interior cabin space

of the TL, Acura designers went to great lengths,

and widths, to ensure every detail excels in its

ability to comfort, engage and inspire. A distinctive

high-quality combination of premium leather

and metallic accents abounds. The available

Technology and Elite Packages include full-grain

perforated Milano leather seats and trim. With

the TL SH-AWD Package, this includes more

supportive seats, bolsters a thicker sport-grip

steering wheel and colour accent stitching.

Power-Adjustable Heated Front Seats

Become one with your TL as you immerse yourself

in the luxury of the two tightly bolstered heated

front seats with available perforated Milano

leather trim. For drivers, the optimum seating

position is easy to obtain with a 10-way power

adjustable seat including 2-way power lumbar

support and 2-position memory. Front passengers

experience similar form-fitting perks with their

own 8-way power-adjustable seat.

Climate Control

The TL’s advanced dual-zone, dual-mode adaptive

climate control system automatically maintains

temperature levels in two different zones inside

the cabin. The dual-mode part of the climate

equation enables you to set two vent levels for

these two zones. And for the ultimate in comfort

and temperature control, the TL’s available Keyless

Access System with driver recognition will have

your seat position, side mirrors, climate, audio

and navigation system set and ready before you

even enter the vehicle.

Safety Through Innovation.

At Acura, Safety Through Innovation is based

on the idea that an advanced driving experience

starts with advanced safety features. This guiding

principle is reinforced through the extensive number

of standard safety features and use of innovative

technologies you’ll find in all Acura vehicles.

VSA®

Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with Traction Control

will automatically detect and correct understeer

or oversteer situations before you’re even aware

there’s a need. The system intuitively monitors

your driving conditions and automatically

reduces the throttle and/or applies braking to

individual wheels. Should a loss of traction occur

during acceleration on slippery road surfaces,

Traction Control will help compensate to get

you safely underway.

Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)

The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) helps

maintain steering control when braking hard on

wet, slippery or loose surfaces, while Electronic

Brake-force Distribution (EBD) balances braking

forces at each wheel to help compensate for

weight distribution inside the cabin. Plus, there’s

a Brake Assist feature that senses a panic stop

and applies maximum braking power to help you

stop quickly.

Airbags

Maximum safety is achieved with multiple airbags

designed to protect all occupants inside the cabin.

Depending on the point and force of impact, the

TL will deploy dual-stage, dual-threshold front

airbags (SRS) that activate at one of two rates

depending on the severity of the impact; front

side airbags with the innovative passenger-side

Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS)

that will not release if the system detects a

child or small-sized passenger; and side curtain

airbags with a state-of-the-art rollover sensor.

ACE™ Body Structure

The Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE)

body structure utilizes a high-tensile, high-

efficiency steel body to provide enhanced

protection from a multi-directional collision.

ACE reduces the force of a frontal impact by

absorbing energy over a large area and dispersing

it away from you and other occupants of the

cabin. ACE is also designed to help reduce

occupant injuries caused by misalignment in

collisions between vehicles of different sizes.

HID Headlights

The TL’s High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights

produce a brilliant beam of focused light that not

only enhances your ability to see what’s ahead,

but also announces the arrival of your TL in a very

striking fashion.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System

A tire’s proper connection to the road improves

everything from safety to fuel efficiency. That’s

why the TL’s Tire Pressure Monitoring System

(TPMS) continually monitors the air pressure in

each tire using a transponder attached to the

wheel’s valve stem. If pressure drops in any tire,

a warning appears on your instrument panel,

indicating which tire requires attention.

Maintenance Minder™ System

Just as you will develop a unique feel for your TL,

it too will do the same for you by calculating

service needs based on your driving habits. The

traditional kilometre-and-calendar maintenance

schedule will become a thing of your past as the

advanced Maintenance Minder system takes

into account engine revolutions, stop-and-go

traffic experience, weather extremes and the

frequency of short trips to determine when your

next service visit should be. The system helps

coordinate oil-servicing dates and other routine

maintenance as well.
