Submersible Progressive Cavity PumpsTU 3665-005-55280707-2007Submersible progressive cavity pumps are designed to produce heavy and viscous crudes (600-1000 sSt) in low

efficiency formations with high GOR at the pump intake, scaling and high solids content, providing the long-term and reliable operation, impossible to achieve by ESP.

ESPCP systems are available in two designs:

1. ESPCP systems with Permanent Magnet Motor and variable rotation speed 350-750rpmSystems are equipped with motor seal, special universal VFD «Borets-VD50...UM.4» or «Borets-VD105...UM.4»

(with backspin limiter kit), transformer and MLE with pothead PMM power, motor design (heat-resistant, corrosion-resistant, with downhole telemetry system) and motor seal

type are specified during the ordering process depending on operation conditions.

2. ESPCP systems with 4-pole induction motor.Systems are equipped with motor seal, serial drive (applied for ESP system), transformer and MLE with pothead.Motor seal design, induction motor power and design are specified during the ordering process depending on

operation conditions.Submersible Progressive Cavity Pumps design types are:

• Single Electrical Submersible Progressive Cavity Pump - EOVNB series;• Twin-opposed Electrical Submersible Progressive Cavity Pump - EVNB series;• Twin-opposed Electrical Submersible Progressive Cavity Pump with fixed direction of residual thrust

load- EVNFB series.ESPCP operating pair is rubber-metal stator and metal rotor. Elastomer type, stator&rotor gap and interference

and are selected based on specific operation conditions.

On customer request ESPCP may be equipped with a clutch coupling made as a separate module installed between the pump and motor seal or between the motor seal and motor to ensure CW rotation.

In order to operate wells with large content of solids, it is recommended that a sand filter (FPB series) and a hydrocyclone solids separator (SMGB series) are included in the ESPCP system.

ESPCP operation experience shows that reduction in motor speed considerably extends pump run life.

Single ESPCP with heat-resistant statormade of composite materials for heavy oil production

Pump includes:- right-hand stator, made of Oksafen composite material, reinforced by woven roving, and steel ending elements, - right-hand rotor,- flexible and connecting shafts,- thrust chamber,- housing details.

Advantages in comparison with rubber-metal stators:

- high-viscosity oil production, including thermal formation treatment application;- higher thermoresistance, up to 220 0С;- higher wear-resistance;- high associated gas diffusion resistance;- higher chemically active material resistance;- minor expansion due to the fluid influence.

Thrust chambers

TU 3665-005-55280707-2007 Thrust chambers are designed for ESPCP EOVNB series, 5, 5A and 6 sizes and are used

together with pumps for oil production.

Thrust chamber accepts the thrust load from the pump. It’s a single-housing oil-filled system of the enclosed-type journal friction bearing.

Thrust chamber has one bag-type chamber, three end-seals and enforced axial bearing. Additional (“reversed”) hydrodynamic bearing accepts the force from the reversed rotation during pump flushing and unblocking in emergency cases.

Thrust chamber is supplied oil-filled, that’s why no preparatory operations for system installation required.

For completion of high-flow rate and high-head ESPCP 5 and 5A sizes, creating the thrust load more than 5 ton-force, the thrust chambers 2MSB92 and 5MSB103 are used, accepting higher thrust load.

Thrust load during the pump operation is divided in direct proportional between two main hydrodynamic bearings by the patented load distribution system.
