Paul Chin is Vice-President, Real Estate

Lending, Loan Syndications and Capital

Markets for Otera Capital. He has over 23

years of experience in all aspects of

commercial real estate lending. Prior to joining

Otera, Paul held senior commercial real estate lending positions

with a variety of institutions which included HBOS Canada,

Colliers International Mortgage Corporation and CIBC

Mortgages Inc. Paul oversees the commercial real estate

lending team responsible for managing and developing client

relationships in Ontario and Western Canada. Paul also leads

the team responsible for all of Otera’s loan syndication and

capital markets activities. Otéra Capital, as a balance sheet

lender, offers a full range of commercial real estate financing

products which covers both term and construction loans,

together with providing third party loan servicing, asset

management and loan syndications. Otera Capital is a

subsidiary of the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec,

one of the leading institutional fund managers in Canada.

America Merrill Lynch Panelist: Session C Carmin joined the Commercial Real Estate

Banking Group in 2005 to initiate and

develop the bank’s real estate presence in

Central and Eastern Canada, where Bank of

America’s commitments now exceed $1

Billion. As market manager for the

Commercial Real Estate Banking Group, he is responsible for

delivering the full range of financial services, including credit

and derivatives as well as non–credit products and services

designed to meet the needs of public and privately held real

estate oriented organizations. In North America, the bank

provides revolvers, acquisition, bridge, construction and term

financing to REOCs, REITs, private developers, pension funds and

opportunity funds involved in commercial, industrial and

multifamily real estate. Carmin has held a variety of roles

including business development, portfolio management and the

restructuring of special assets in project finance, real estate,

corporate and commercial lending. His 25 years plus of lending

experience includes residential and commercial land

development, high rise condominiums, mixed use, hospitality,

commercial and industrial construction including one of

Canada’s largest 3P projects.

Sandro Iannicca is the founder of SI

Consulting Group (SICG). SICG is a

management consulting firm that

focuses in the human capital arena. Sandro has extensive

experience in the areas of high performance team design and

development, leadership assessment and development,

performance management, succession planning, human

resources strategy development and execution, organization

design and executive coaching. He has managed large

consulting practices in the United States and Canada. Prior to

founding his firm, Sandro was the Managing Partner for the

consulting group at MICA Management Resources in Toronto,

and prior to that he headed the Human Capital group with

Mercer Human Resource Consulting in Toronto, and ran the

Workforce Transition Group for Bearing Point (formerly KPMG) in

Dallas Texas. He has consulted to the private and public sectors

in Canada, the U.S., Europe and the Middle East. A sample of

the organizations he has worked for includes: the Royal Bank of

Canada, Sears, Aventis, the Ontario Public Service, Labatt and

Microsoft. A frequent guest speaker and facilitator, Sandro has

spoken on topics such as driving executive performance,

Geoff has been with GE Capital since 2003,

Geoff has held various roles in debt asset

management and originations and has been

involved in excess of $5.0B of structured on

book and CMBS debt originations.

In his current role, Geoff is responsible for

debt originations, syndications and large loan restructures across

Canada, with a primary focus on non-recourse, structured

balance sheet debt. Prior to joining GE Capital, Geoff held

positions at the Royal Bank of Canada and Graywood

Developments Ltd.

Marageret Nelligan, Partner-Aird & Berlis

Panelist: Session B

Margaret Nelligan is well known for her

experience in income trusts and REIT finance

and acquisitions. Margaret represents Allied

Properties REIT (“Allied”) in all matters relating

to board governance, securities and

financing, since 2003 including offerings with

a combined value of over $1 billion. Margaret also acts for the

Skyline REITs, both apartment and commercial. In the past,

Margaret has acted for Morguard REIT with respect to its

convertible debenture offerings, rights offering and bond

financings. Margaret has served as a member of the Securities

Advisory Committee of the Ontario Securities Commission and

has been appointed Adjunct Faculty at Osgoode Law School

where she teaches a course on mergers & acquisitions.

Margaret is also a director of Horizon Utilities, Ontario’s fifth

largest electricity distributor, where she is the Chair of its Human

Resources and Governance Committee, and is a director of

Lakefield College School.

Amar Nijjar, VP & Practice Lead, Debt Capital

Markets Group-Jones Lang LaSalle Panelist:

Amar is VP & Practice Lead, Debt Capital

Markets Group at Jones Lang LaSalle - His team is

responsible for the origination of term,

construction, high yield and mezzanine debt on

all types of real estate properties throughout Canada.

Additionally, he is responsible for sourcing of Institutional Debt

partners, establishing syndication strategy on large loans and

expanding private placement and correspondent relationships

for JLL. Amar is an expert at finding real estate debt solutions

both at the corporate/institutional level and at the SME (Small to

Midsize Enterprises) level. Previously, Amar was AVP, Commercial

Mortgages at FNF LP and prior to that he was Manager, National

Accounts at CIBC where he specialized in real estate financing

solutions for REITs, Pension Funds, Public corporations and other

large private and institutional entities. In the last seven years,

Amar has successfully funded over $1.5 billion of term debt

throughout Canada and evaluated more than $10 billion of real

estate debt investment proposals. Prior to that he spent three

years within the commercial banking divisions of RBC and BMO

in Toronto and Vancouver. Amar holds an MBA degree from

Schulich School of Business (York University) and an

undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering.

Clifton E. (Chip) Rodgers, Sr. Vice President –

The Real Estate Roundtable Guest Speaker:

Session A

Clifton E. (Chip) Rodgers, Jr. has successfully

represented commercial real estate’s stake in

the US national policy arena on a broad range

of legislative and regulatory issues for over a

decade. In addition to his work in federal government relations

on national policy matters pertaining to credit, capital market,

homeland security and risk management issues, Rodgers has 15

years of experience in capital market, securitization, real estate

investment banking and debt restructuring activities at Mellon

Bank, Fannie Mae, The First Boston Corporation, Phillips Realty

Capital, a Goldman, Sachs & Co venture with the J.E. Robert

Companies (now known as the Archon Group), and Legg

Mason. Rodgers was also appointed by President George H. W.

Bush to direct the U.S. Treasury Department’s office of business

liaison, where he focused on a broad range of issues affecting

America’s business and financial services sectors. He played an

integral role in developing and advancing the organization’s

Five Point Plan to address the 2007 financial crisis. Since 9/11, he

has worked extensively on terrorism risk management and

mitigation issues, played a leading role in the enactment of the

Terrorism Risk Insurance Act and its subsequent extensions, the

establishment of the Real Estate Information Sharing and

Analysis Center (ISAC) and the organization’s Homeland

Security Task Force. In addition to his government affairs and

homeland security activities, Rodgers also coordinates the

organization’s research activities. In addition to his current

position with The Real Estate Roundtable, Rodgers serves as

executive director of the Real Estate ISAC, on the Editorial Board

of BNA’s Real Estate Law & Industry Report and a founding

director of the Bank of Georgetown in Washington, DC. He has

also served as an industry trade advisor to the Office of the U.S.

Trade Representative and the U.S Department of Commerce,

an adjunct professor at Georgetown University’s McDonough

School of Business, on the steering committee of the Coalition to

Insure Against Terrorism (CIAT), as a member of the RAND

Corporation’s Center for Terrorism Risk Management Policy

Board, as well as a number of other civic, educational and

corporate boards. He is listed in Who’s Who in America and has

appeared on the CBS Evening News, CNBC’s Squawk Box and

PBS’ Nightly Business Report.

Management and currently sits on the board of directors of

West Park Healthcare Centre located in Toronto.

Stephen is a Partner in BDO’s Assurance and

Accounting practice with over 28 years of

accounting experience serving both private

and public companies, and is the leader of

BDO’s REIT and Real Estate Investment

Specialization Team. He is also a member of

BDO Canada’s Policy Board and the former chair of BDO

Canada’s Public Company Steering Committee. Stephen is the

US Country Coordinating Partner and as such is responsible for

managing the relationship and technical matters between

Canada and the US. He has significant experience working with

BDO’s International Network and has worked primarily in the

North American and European markets. Stephen has a BMath

(Honours Co-op - CA Option) from University of Waterloo and a

member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario.

Committee for over 13 years. Mary is responsible for client

coverage and transaction origination primarily for the Real

Estate and Diversified Industries Groups. Mary brings knowledge

and expertise in the areas of syndication, structuring, pricing

and marketing to develop capital markets solutions for leading

North American corporations wishing to access the Canadian

markets. Mary has played a significant role in over $55 billion of

IPO, equity, preferred share and convertible debenture

Prior to joining Scotiabank, Mary spent five years with KPMG,
