4-H Volunteer Enrollment Information

August 16, 2013

——————————————————————–—————————————————————————————-—————————————————-

All volunteers must also enroll annually by creating or re-activating their profile in the 4-H Connect online management system. The volunteer must enroll as a 4-H volunteer every year. Enrollment and an active profile is required for any volun-teer to register for an event in 4-H Connect. Please note that you no longer need to submit the 4-H Volunteer Background Check form. Simply coordinate with the County Extension Office (Mary Patlan) on the $10 payment for screening, or mail-in your check made paya-ble to 4-H Project Account to this address: 410 North 13th Avenue/Edinburg, Texas 78541 or bring it by the Exten-sion Office. The pending status on 4-H Connect will change automatically, as soon as it is approved from the State 4-H Office.

Just click, here, on this website → at: http://hidalgo.agrilife.org/

IMPORTANT!

4-H Connect Re-Enrollment

————————————–————————–——————————-

The 4-H Connect Registration process has started in August. All pro-files have become Inactive on August 15th, and all 4-Hers are required to re-enroll for the 2013-2014, 4-H Year. All existing profiles (youth and adults) must be updated. Please Note: Clovers must register, as well.

______________________________________________ Please remember that all 4-H members must be officially enrolled in an “active” status on 4-H Connect to be considered an official 4-H mem-ber. It is very important that each 4-H member update their profile with the most current information, as well as the medical/health field.

• All Youth – Must have the following fields filled out: Health/Medical Form: Signed this day, Health/Medical Form: Participant Signature,

Health/Medical Form: Parent or Legal Guardian Signature.

• All Adults – Must have the following fields filled out: Health/Medical

Form: Signed this day, Health/Medical Form: Participant Signature

If participants do not have health insurance, print their name and date the form online, which advises us that the 4-Her has no insurance coverage, but has read the needed forms.

—————————————- (Do Not Duplicate Profile): Please contact Mary Patlan to assist you with any questions or email/password issues. Also, be prepared to process payment through 4-H Connect with re-enrolling/enrolling your family profile.

2014 Texas 4-H Photography

Rules & Guidelines ———–———–———————————————————————————

There has been an update on the 2014 Texas 4-H Photography Rules & Guidelines. The categories have remained the same for the 2014 contest, however, some of the descriptions have been updated to ad-dress questions pertaining to what is allowable in each of the catego-ries. The theme for 2014 is: "What Is Your Why?" This category will be for photographs of why youth are part of 4-H in Texas. 4-H mem-bers are to think about why they are a member of Texas 4-H, it could focus on leadership, project experience(s), community service, a 4-H meeting, volunteers, or 4-H friends.

One of the major changes in the 2014 Texas 4-H Photography Contest is the scoring criteria, which has been simplified, via number of criteria and description clarification of each. With this change also comes an additional award ranking where youth maybe only awarded a participa-tion ribbon for their photo.

The 2014 Rules & Guidelines will be posted on the Texas 4-H Photog-

raphy website at: http://texas4-h.tamu.edu/project_photography

Good Afternoon:

As a supporter of the 4-H as well as a Go-Texan Member, we would like to share with you an exciting Fund-raising opportunity. Our program is a 50% profit based program starting with the very first item sold. There is no minimum to purchase and no group too small. We do not charge you for brochures, order forms, posters, or shipping. You simply sell the products and we send you an invoice for 50% of your total sales. Please take a look out the brochure online with the link provided below. The program is very simple.

You can also do our fund-raiser in coordination with your normal fall fund-raiser. If you do meat, fruit, or nuts; your profit is normally very little. By using our fund-raiser in coordina-tion, you can broaden your market base and still make more! If you make $4 on a $30 ham, you could make that same $4 on an $8 item in our brochure. By doing both you can reach more people who may not be able to support you if they are required to spend that much. Our products also require no refrigeration and we set the start date and delivery date by what you request not what we require.

If you have any questions in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.

Thanks, Tammy Cell: (361)220-0132, or Fax: (361)237-4805 VIRTUAL BROCHURE: https://www.stxmilling.com/index.php?main_page=page_4 For additional information, www.stxmilling.com Click on the fund-raising tab for additional policies and procedures and to see our promise to you in black and white!

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service introduced the 2013-2014 Hidalgo County 4-H Ambassadors to Commis-sioners Court on August 6, 2013. Christina Perez, County Extension Agent, 4-H & Youth Development, introduced the students and stated that the purpose of the 4-H Ambassador is to project a clear and accurate image of the Texas 4-H Youth Development Program. The 4-H Ambassadors act as spokespersons for the 4-H program, spreading the history and mission of 4-H to different audiences in the community. The role consists of promoting and advertising 4-H to other youth, volunteers and community leaders. The Ambassadors help others understand how 4-H affects the lives of young people and how it addresses key youth issues in the community and state. In doing so, the youth improve their leadership and presentation skills.

2013 – 2014 Hidalgo County 4-H Ambassadors: • Adriana Lamar de los Santos • Renee Patricia Boyle • Marissa Nicole Luna • Brianna Nicole Bullion • Krista Luisa Olivarez • James Andrew Cano • Claudia Christina Martinez • Vanessa Marie Martinez • Bianca Rebecca Garcia • Robyn Denise Perez • Daena Lynn Ciomperlik • Cynthia Lilliana Cantu • Amanda Cristina Salinas • Emily Nicole Morales
