TAKE A SEAT FOR THE ARTSBlackburn Hall 7:30 - 10:00 p.m.FREE Thursday, November 7Local Artists All ages This event is a funky way to appreciate the arts. Many local artists have taken “forgotten chairs” and refurbished them into fabulous works of art. They will be displayed, along with other works by the artist, for purchase. The proceeds from the sales of the chairs will go towards cultural programs geared towards the children of Walpole. There will be live music along with wine & cheese, and pastries will be served.

Take a Seat for the Arts The Walpole Recreation Department is hosting an event on November 7 at Blackburn Hall from 7:30 - 10PM called “Take A Seat for The Arts.” The event is asking local artists to give new life to old chairs by painting them in an original way and then showcase and sell them to the public. All of the proceeds will go to offering children’s cultural programs at Studio East. The evening will have the refurbished chairs for sale along with the artists displaying and selling their other works - just in time for the holidays. There will also be a reception with refreshments and live music. Anyone who would like to see some sneak peaks of the chairs can see them at Walpole Recreation's Facebook Page or by going to see the newsletter on Blackburnhall.com. Anyone with any questions may contact Aicha Kelley at 508-660-6371.
New Programs at the Walpole Recreation Department The Walpole Recreation Department has new programs starting the week of November 5th. Anyone interested in new programs can find the information on walpolerec.com or the weekly newsletter can be found at blackburnhall.com. Some of the new programs are Preschool Classes such as "Literature Fun Time," "Young Rembrandts Art Programs," "Big and Little Zumbatonics." A great teen program that is being offered is "Preparing for the College Admissions Interview" at almost half price. Some new adult programs are "Gentle Yoga" and "Allergy Free Cooking" and "Healthy and Tasty Holiday Cooking." Anyone with any questions, may contact Aicha Kelley at 508-660-6371.
7th & 8th Grade Dance The Walpole Recreation Department will be hosting the next 7th and 8th Grade Dance on Friday, November 1 from 7:30 – 10PM at Blackburn Hall. The Recreation Department is asking any 7th & 8th grader that has not received their Dance Card to come to the office in Blackburn prior to the dance. The IDs will make them members in the system and ensure safer dances. There is a $25 membership fee to purchase your ID card and will last for the school year. If a parent chaperones 2 dances - they will be reimbursed $20. The cost of entry to each dance is $5. There will be plenty of trained recreation staff, but parents are urged to volunteer and may do so simply by calling Aicha Kelley at 508-660-6371.
Looking for New Instructors The Walpole Recreation Department is looking for new instructors for the winter seasons. If anyone has any hidden interest, talents, expertise that would like to teach the Walpole Community, please contact Aicha Kelley at 508-660-6371 or at [email protected]. These may include preschool classes, children’s classes, adult classes, art classes, financial seminars, cooking and DIY classes, etc.
