In September the Chapter was notified that we had achieved a Platinum rating for the third consecutive
year! Platinum is a significant achievement in that it is only awarded to Chapters that have performed at
a consistently high level for at least five years in a row. This is a testament to the hard work that you, the members, have put into making our chapter as great as it is. Actively supporting our various Program
and Educational offerings such as; 2013 International Conference, PDM’s, Plant Tours, Webinars, Volunteer and Learn at Second Harvest and attending our CPIM/CSCP education series are examples of what makes
our chapter successful. Thank you!

Our Chapter kicked off the
2013/2014 program year by achieving the APICS Chapter Benchmarking and Reporting
(C-BAR) Platinum award
level for the third year in a row! This is the highest level award offered by APICS and
demonstrates our chapter’s
dedication to providing ex-
emplary member services
and professional develop-
ment opportunities to APICS
members and customers.
The 2013 APICS International Conference was held in
Orlando, Florida at the Gay-
lord Palms. The conference
hosted more than 1800 sup-
ply chain professionals and
was a huge success. Last year Denise Gillespie was
selected to head the local
arrangements committee.
Denise and her team did an
awesome job setting up and
executing the Plant Tours.
Thank you to all the Mid-Florida chapter members
who volunteered at this
event.
At the conference, APICS
officially launched their re-
branding campaign which reinforces APICS leadership
role in Supply Chain and
Operations Management.
Check the redesigned logo, website and campaign video
at http://www.apics.org.
This program year chapter
PDE series is a good mix of PDM’s, plant tours and Webi-nars. We kicked off our Sep-
tember PDM with Leveraging Teams To Drive Improve-
ment. An interactive team exercise was included which
proved to be not only fun but
good learning. October was our joint meeting with ISM
which had over 40 profes-sionals between the two
organizations. November
will be our first tour of the
year at CHEP Innovation
Center and Service Center.
As we move into 2014, our
January 14th PDM will be a
join meeting with MACF. It
will focus on students in-
volvement in APICS and the
future of manufacturing. It
will be held at UCF Alumni
Center. Check out our up-
coming program schedule in
the newsletter and on our
WEB site. The Chapter board continues
to grow stronger. We have recently added two new
board members; Robin St.
Clair, Director Student Affairs and Tim Budinger,
Director Marketing. We are always in need of new ideas
and helping hands, so, if you are interested in assisting
the Chapter in any capacity,
please contact me directly.
As we head into 2014, keep in
mind continuing your APICS education and completing certifications. We have sev-
eral CPIM classes coming up in 2014, check our WEB site
and a schedule is also included in the newsletter.

APICS Learn It apps
At the conference last month apps for the iPhone was introduced that contained the APICS Dictionary that proved to be
very popular with all able to down load it. It provides members with a tool that can be used to verify a definition from
your phone or use it in the preparation for certification exams. Now the version for the Android operating system is
available.
To down load these helpful apps, one goes either to the iPhone apps store or the Google Play Store and follow the direc-
tions. When you get your APICSLearnIt app you will see that you can use it as a mobile dictionary or play flash card games
to test your knowledge of the terminology used by APICS. Down load it, it is fun, educational and very useful.

General Education Deployment
The familiar Vouchers used to pay for certification exams will no longer be available. However those vouchers you may
hold will be good for payment when taking exams. The purpose for this new process is to put all members national and
international on the same testing platform and system.
Starting November 1, 2013, the vouchers will be replaced by Exam Credits as the way to pay for your certification exams.
At this time, forms will be available on the APICS web site for the purchase of Exam Credits. Individual s must use this
form to make their payments prior to contacting Pearson Vue to schedule an exam. The Exam Credits will be for a specif-
ic certification module a specific individual and be valid for one year. If you hold an exam voucher, they will continue to be
valid for testing. No vouchers will be sold after October 13, 2013.
The major difference between the voucher and the Exam Credit is that the voucher is not sold for a specific individual or
certification exam. Exam Credits however, will be sold for specific individuals by name and specific certification exam
modules.
