To Our Southern Florida District Family-
Thank you for the wonderful surprise at the SDMI Convention. We have been blessed
by God to serve 42 years of our 50 years of ministry on our home district. The reflec-
tions of positions held throughout the years was fun to hear. Dennis, how did you get
all of that information?
We appreciate the very generous love offering, the Distinguished Service Award and
other gifts. Your kind words and hugs will never be forgotten! Wow! What a farewell
party! Thank you Dr. Nixon, Marsha, the SDMI Board,
and all who helped in any way.
We love you! We will never forget you! You will always
be in our thoughts and prayers.
We’d love to hear from you!
Ted and Sharon Joy
214 Tennerton Lane. Murfreesboro, TN, 37129
We want to thank Pastor Ted for
his many years of ministry to the Southern Florida District. We
will greatly miss Ted & Sharon Joy as they move to Tennes-
see to be near their children and grandchildren.
We are pleased to announce that Rev. Tony Miller, Pastor of
Bradenton First Church, has been appointed to serve as SDMI
Chairman for the Southern Florida District for the remainder of
Pastor Ted Underwood’s term.
I proclaim this will be a year of looking forward! I will never forget a most embarrass-
ing moment when my wife Hydie and I failed to look forward. We were in Pigeon
Forge, Tennessee on a Pastor and spouse retreat, enjoying a day of shopping when
we both were walking toward each other-but looking backwards. We both knew we
were approaching one another but for some unexpected reason glanced backwards.
The results? The two of us looked like crash dummies as our heads and bodies col-
lided. It hurt! She thought I was at fault by not watching, and I thought she was at
fault. When we realized it was both of our faults, we broke out with hilarious laughter.
Think about it. God puts eyes on the front of our heads for a reason; to look forward.
That is what we can do in the months to come. Look forward to great days of minis-
try! Look forward to teach people about Jesus in our Sunday School class and look
forward to what new thing God might do in you.

There have been a couple of churches who have inquired about Teen Bible Quizzing. We do not currently have a quizzing program but I would like to know if there is any other interest. One of our Miami churches has volunteered to direct a quizzing program for the Southern Florida District. If you have students that would like to be a part of Bible Quizzing please let us know. Southern Florida Obtaining Harvesters
Urgent financial assistance is needed from the 18,000 Nazarenes attending our 85 churches. The Thanksgiving growing season has been overwhelming and harvesters are desperately needed for immediate service.
If we had thousands of acres growing wheat – wouldn’t we want the best equipment to yield the highest number of bushels for our harvest?
The truth is we ARE “soul winning” farmers and there is a huge harvest to reap. Instead of thousands of bushels – there are thousands of souls waiting for eternal harvesting in every corner of our world.
Giving generously to the Thanksgiving Offering (World Evangelism Fund) in your church is a way we help secure harvesters (missionaries and more) to reap millions of souls for God’s eternal Kingdom. Southern Florida needs to raise over $500,000 for our “harvesters”. Make an eternal difference with your gift!

Ecuador Project: Great Team = Great Wall
This is the Work & Witness team of 26 who went to Quito, Ecuador to assist in constructing a retaining wall at the Nazarene Seminary. They placed over 66 tons of rock and concrete in the wall. Thanks to Pastor Roy Shuck for leading the team and to SFD Missionaries Dwight & Carolyn Rich for hosting us so well. Thanks to all who contributed.
I was elected NMI/Missions President – Yikes! Relax! A New Missions Presidents’ Orientation is planned, November 2 at Lake Worth First Nazarene. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. The cost is $5 for lunch. Learn the how, when, where and why of missions. A “MUST” for all new presidents and pastors. Email or call Dennis Moore to pre-register.

THE NEXT CHAPTER
On September 29th, Gil Hodges stepped
down as head chef. Lake Placid Camp & Conference Center has been blessed by the service of Chef Gil as head chef for the past 7 years. Cooking has been a part of his life for over 60 years and he has prepared approximately 1,242,500 meals during his time of serving Jesus Christ by serving others at LPCCC. Chef Gil’s culi-nary talents have been appreciated by many.
We are blessed to introduce Jeff Gillis as head chef of LPCCC as of September 30
th. Jeff comes to us with many years of
culinary experience. Jeff and Peggy Sue, his wife, along with their 4 daughters look forward to calling LPCCC home. Please pray as this transition takes place. We know you will enjoy the tasty fare Chef Jeff will be preparing. Bon e´ petit!
