Report from the Board of Elders Officers for 2020 elected by the Elders at their January meeting: Clive Goodson, Vice-Chairman and Betty Paschall, Secretary. David Guthrie informed us in December, 2019, that Pastor Daniel could serve the church through the end of February 2020 and would be in touch with us after the first of the year to provide us with further details. Nothing has been heard from this communication. At our February meeting, due to Pastor Daniel’s situation, we discussed our path forward without Pastor Daniel. The Board felt that, based on past experience, it needed some clarification of the doctrine and beliefs of the leaders of the Province of the Moravian Church in North America. We have sent a request for clarification to the members of the PEC. Charlie Paschall is working on supply preachers until we can move forward. Thank you, Charlie. The Board also determined that we will need to use laypersons for the readings during Easter Week. If you would like to read, please advise us. Report from the Board of Trustees The January 2020 Financial Report for the General Operating Fund is available in the Church Office. Copies are available upon request. Ushers are needed for the Easter Sunrise Service on April 12, 2020. Please contact George Butner if you would like to serve. David Peery made a new cross to replace our old one that was infested with termites. Thank you, David. ARDMORE MORAVIAN CHURCH 2013 W. Academy Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 336-723-3444 2020

EASTER OFFERING FOR GOD’S ACRE

This Easter, for the 248th year, we will hold our Easter Sunrise Service to celebrate the gift of God’s promise of eternal life through the resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ. Of course, this service will be held in God’s Acre – resplendent in its array of flowers and washed by the beautiful sounds of the band. As the service ends and the sun rises over the landscape, the sense of hope that the service brings is once again felt among all those in attendance, both members and guests.

We have been blessed by the generosity of generations of Moravians who have long supported the upkeep of this special place. With costs growing every year and fees now covering less than one-fourth of the costs, the need is greater than ever. However, if every member helps by supporting God’s Acre with only a few dollars per year, especially to the endowment fund, it will make a real difference in our ability to preserve God’s Acre.

We ask that you prayerfully consider a donation of some amount this year so that we will always have this gift from our past generations for future generations to use and to share.

Report from Women’s Fellowship

CHERRY STREET PRISON BINGO ON APRIL 4 – DONATIONS NEEDED FOR PRIZES We would arrive at 8:30-8:45 AM to set up. They have coffee, but have asked us to bring donuts/plates. There will be approximately 30-50 men who would participate. The Chaplain would open the game with a brief devotion. Then we would play from 9:30-10:45 AM. They have lunch at 11:00 AM so we would need to wrap everything up before then. We can bring the following items for prizes: personal care items (shampoo, toothpaste, non-aerosol deodorant, lotion, etc), candy, bagged snacks; but nothing homemade. Members of the Men’s Fellowship are also welcome to attend. (From Terri Kessler)

INVITATION TO CIRCLES Ladies of the congregation, if you are not in a Circle at Ardmore Moravian Church, you are missing out! Each of our three Circle groups is unique, but all share the joy of serving our Lord through Bible study, supporting missions here and around the world, and cultivating deeper friendships with our church sisters. I like to think of our Women’s Fellowship as the heart of the church in fundraising projects, outreach into the community, special events, and sharing our love and concern to those in times of need. Each circle meets on the second Tuesday of the month. A morning Circle (JoAnn Goodson, Leader) at 10:00 AM in the Library, a 5:30 PM Circle (Terri Kessler, Leader) in the Young Adult Classroom, and the last Circle (Nancy Crouse, Leader), which now meets an hour earlier at 6:30 PM in the Stelter Haus. Please contact any of these Circle Leaders or me for further information! We would welcome you to come and join us!

AMC’s Women’s Fellowship Circle #5 sponsored a well-attended Spaghetti Supper on Saturday evening, February 15. A Valentine’s Day theme was carried throughout the Fellowship Hall with table centerpieces of tissue-wrapped white tulips in red vases and Valentine sentiment bags. The delicious meal of spaghetti, with a choice of vegetarian or meat sauce, was served with toasted artisan bread slices and a mixed greens salad with various dressings. The Valentine’s theme was reflected in the luscious dessert of cream-filled cake squares, which featured red and pink hearts. Iced tea, lemonade, and coffee rounded out the menu. Hearty food paired with warm fellowship surrounded the dining tables from 4:30-6:30 PM. All monies collected were given to the General Fund of the church.

A letter from Pastor Dockery…

February 24, 2020 Ardmore Moravian Church 2013 West Academy Street Winston-Salem, North Carolina 27103 Ardmore Moravian Church,

The past seven months have been filled with much joy for me as we have met together week by week to worship and fellowship. God has blessed you with a gift for expressing love and a sincerity of heart toward each other. Your full-time, part-time, supply pastor was blessed to be the recipient of your love and sincerity as well. Thank you for your patience and kind instruction as I sought to learn the rich traditions, history and ways of the Moravian Church. Thank you for your faithfulness to engage in worship and receive the ministry of the Word of God each week. Thank you for all your prayers and kind words of encouragement along the way.

In addition to our weekly gathering, I feel so honored to have had the privilege of joining you for the Christmas Eve Love Feast. No wonder your sanctuary was filled three times for this special time of worship. The room was beautifully and elegantly adorned. The music was magnificent and God honoring. The head dieners assured the bun and coffee were served with grace and efficiency. And all the participants were well cared for between the services. My family and I were tremendously blessed.

Thanks also for your heartfelt prayers and for gathering around the table with me this past Sunday. The prayers and the food and the fellowship and all your kind words blessed my soul. And to top it all off, you also blessed my family with a generous love offering. All day this past Sunday, the air was filled with the love and grace of God that exists between us. You have opened your hearts to me so freely and graciously, and you have a special place in my heart. I will continue to pray that you will remain faithful to the Lord and the truth of His Word. I have great hope that God will give you the faith and encouragement needed for you to honor Him in every way in the days to come. May He pour out His richest blessings on you. Sincerely, Daniel L. Dockery

FELLOWSHIP LUNCHEON WITH PASTOR DANIEL This past Sunday, February 23rd, we gathered over a potluck lunch to celebrate the time the Lord has given us with Pastor Daniel. The floor was open to anyone who wanted to tell what his ministry has meant to them and many stood to honor God and show their gratitude for His blessings. A love offering is being collected and will be given to Pastor Daniel when he returns for Day of Prayer on March 11th.
