WHAT IS MUN?Model United Nations provides students with the opportunity to learn about and dis-cuss today’s most relevant issues in interna-tional diplomacy through participation in an academic simulation of the many bodies of the United Nations as well as other similar international organizations.
Through the process of pre-conference research and in-conference debate, caucus-ing, and resolution writing, delegates work together to fashion solutions to these ques-tions, while simultaneously articulating the opinions of the real United Nations ambas-sadors and delegates whom they represent.
By converting this research into resolutions and material for discussion in committee, students hone their analytical abilities, while the debate and lobbying processes afford students the opportunity to practice their public speaking and conflict resolution skills. Through this, Model United Nations allows participants to expand both their under-standing of globally-relevant issues and their ability to think critically about them.

The committees at YMUN Korea willuniquely offer an authentic taste of theuniversity experience. Moderators andchairs will be chosen from the ranks ofYale’s most enthusiastic and knowledge-able tobring theexpertisenecessary toensurethesuccessandacademicrigorofevery committee. What distinguishesYMUN Korea’s com-mittees from those at a typical ModelUnitedNationsconference isnot limitedto theYale experience alone. At otherModel United Nations conferences, de-bate often neglects analyzing the funda-mental legal and philosophical principlesthat undergird any meaningful conversa-tionaboutinternationalaffairs.
