FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL + CHAIR OF THE BOARD

Each year, the annual report provides an opportunity to reflect and celebrate our School’s achievements. It also provides us the opportunity to thank each of you for your generosity of time, resources and partnership that contribute greatly to Kingsley’s vibrant culture and successes.

The 2014-15 year was a major turning point in our School’s history. Our mission-driven decision to significantly improve the strength of our core curriculum and programs and offer a state-of-the-art learning environment for our students, led to the launch of Kingsley’s first capital

campaign. This decision allowed us to:

• Enhance our student and families’ learning experience;• Provide our students and faculty with 21st-century resources, tools and learning

spaces;• Position Kingsley as a leader in elementary education; and• Better prepare our students for next school placement.

We are so proud to announce that $3.75 million has been raised to date towards our capital fundraising goals. We also experienced another very strong year for the Annual Fund with an unprecedented 93% faculty and staff participation and 87% parent support.

This year, we’ve launched a new LIVE. GROW. GIVE. theme to clarify the fundraising landscape and the importance of these efforts:

• The Annual Fund is a priority of our Evolve Campaign and provides critical resources for our operating budget. The Annual Fund allows us to LIVE;

• Capital giving supports the expansion of and enhancement to our facilities and programs. Capital gifts to the Evolve Campaign allow us to GROW; and

• The Scholarship Gala funds financial aid to make a Kingsley education accessible for all families. The Scholarship Gala allows us to GIVE.

We hope as you read through this report, you are as proud as we are of our commu-nity’s achievements and the amazing growth the School has experienced. We are excited to see what new opportunities lie ahead as we fulfill our mission in cultivat-ing Kingsley students to become curious and confident learners who will contribute greatly to our world. The future for our students has never been more promising.

Sincerely,

Renee DuChainey-Farkes Charlotte Hemr P’20, ’17 Head of School Chair, Board of Trustees

LETT

ERS

Kingsley experienced a fundraising year unlike any other in 2014-15, and the generosity demonstrated by our school community was resultingly unprecedented. On behalf of the Development and Campaign Steering Committees, it is our great pleasure to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to the hundreds of people whose names follow in this 2014-2015 Annual Report.

Under the leadership of Annual Fund co-chairs Cathy and John Pena and Susan and Kyle Weaver, the Kingsley Annual Fund surpassed its goal, raising a total of $581,579 for operational support. In this unique year without a scholarship gala, Kingsley reaffirmed its commitment to making a Kingsley education accessible for more families by allocating a portion of the Annual Fund to financial aid.

Illustrative of Kingsley’s commitment to building community, participation in the Annual Fund increased across every constituency. Parent participation grew to an impressive 87%, while the faculty and staff reached a record-breaking 93% participation. In its inaugural year, we are also very pleased that more than 30 Kingsley grandparents made gifts to the Grandparents Fund. Twenty-one of Kingsley’s youngest supporters—alumni and students—made their very first gifts to the School in 2014-15. Overall, the total number of donors to the Annual Fund increased by an incredible 43% in just one year. It is so inspiring to see more and more members of our community investing in our School and ensuring the success of every student and teacher.

Kingsley publically launched its first formal capital campaign, Evolve, Kingsley’s Campaign for Innovation and Excellence, in April 2015 and we are thrilled to have raised $3.75 million to date. Our thanks to the early Evolve donors, listed later in this report, for their trailblazing generosity and leadership of this effort. Capital gifts to Evolve support the expansion of and enhancement to our facilities and programs. Over the next two years, the entire school community will be invited to help Kingsley grow by participating in Evolve.

During this unique time in the evolution of our School, our support is more important than ever before. The enthusiasm and generosity demonstrated in 2014-15 is humbling; together we have built a strong foundation upon which we will grow in the year ahead.

Thank you for your volunteerism, your leadership, your generosity, and for all the ways you support the experience of every student and teacher at Kingsley. We are so grateful for all you do.

Sincerely,

Becky Kidder Smith P’21, ’16 Kris Stookey P’21, ’18Co-chairs, Development Committee

“Our daughter, Charlotte, has laid the foundation for a lifelong love of learning at Kingsley. From the time she started as a P3, we have been amazed at how well the teachers know her, not just as a student, but as a person. As a two-career family, we have come to appreciate not just the strength of Kingsley’s academic program, but also the enriching afterschool and summer choices. We support the Annual Fund because we want to help support the faculty who are so critical to a student’s success at Kingsley, and to help bring the opportunity of a Kingsley education within reach for more families.”

The educators at Kingsley are the best. Their dedication and care for each individual child is evident in every interaction that I’ve seen. I can’t imagine a warmer, more nurturing environment for a child to spend these important years. I support the Annual Fund to celebrate the amazing work of my colleagues!”

Kingsley hosted its 3rd Annual Alumni Reunion in April. Many young alumni and sixth grade students gathered at a 3D-printing studio on Newbury Street to reconnect with friends and teachers while exploring the fun technology. Many attendees also made their first gifts to the Annual Fund—look for their names earlier in this report—strengthening their connection to the school and building good philanthropic habits!
