Every year, as my son, an Island School alumnus, continues to excel in school, I am reminded of the exceptional educational foundation he received at The Island School. I credit his caring attitude, ability to work with all kinds of people and love of math to

The Island School. The faculty and staff at The Island School foster a culture of acceptance, celebration of diverse people and viewpoints, and love of learning. They are masterful at knowing each child and how to meet each child’s needs. The Island School is, without question, a special place.

As an alumni parent and the Board Chair at The Island School, I encourage you to support our school’s continued dedication to serving each child’s educational needs by giving to the Annual Fund. If you have already given, thank you. Every contribution makes a difference by supporting our students as they grow into accomplished, lifelong learners.

Our Head of School

Dear Friends and Families of The Island School,

As I recently watched the sweet interaction between one of our graduates and a kindergartner here at The Island School, I found myself remembering a comment he had made years ago when his mother asked, “What do you like best about The Island School?”

He thought about this and responded, “The gentleness.” Certainly this was both an unusual and unusually insightful remark coming from a child, but it also reflected the intentional work we do to sustain our culture of kindness, compassion and respect. We believe passionately that developing well-educated children is essential; however, it does no good to educate minds without educating hearts. Educating both is core to the mission of The Island School. While many schools claim to do what we do, few achieve it.

Achieving this kind of educational culture only comes with the commitment of every individual in the community. We are blessed with endless generosity from the many families, friends and alumni of the school whose gifts ensure that The Island School can continue to support each child. In addition to your financial support, you give so generously of your time and talent. Whether reading to children, tutoring math, playing soccer, orchestrating the Carnival, Cultural Study or Auction, driving on field trips, organizing pizza lunches or serving on the Board, these priceless gifts of service sustain the quality that we have all come to expect as standard at The Island School.

Words seem inadequate to express how deeply grateful I am for all that you make possible for each child here. I hope you will accept my heartfelt appreciation for the difference you make in helping our children realize their dreams every day at The Island School!
