proud to be part of this dynamic organization.

We started 2015 off with our 4 MTM meetings in Denmark, Botswana,

Portugal and Austria. The meetings all went well with fantastic discus-

sions and by looking at all the photos on Facebook, we can see so many

ladies created great memories meeting new and old friends. Thank you

to the MTM Committees for hosting a successful and unforgettable

weekend for all participants, and thank you to all the countries for par-

ticipating as this is what keeps our organisation young and vibrant.

Message from Ladies Circle International President 2014—2015

I had the privilege and honour to attend the Mauritius

Charter, and my goodness, these ladies are rearing to

go with such passion! It was so special and at the same

time I got to know the lovely ladies from La Reunion

and Madagascar. They may be from small islands but

these ladies have hearts the size of mountains! Not for-

getting Round Table and Tangent for their endless sup-

port for our new country as we all partied the night

away in the most glorious setting. Congratulations

again Divya and LC Mauritius! We are so proud of you!

Our 3rd Board Meeting was held in Tunisia and once again we our 5 minutes of fame as we were all

interviewed on the local Tunisian radio station. With all the

Boardies together at BM3, it was fantastic to attend the charter

of Tunisia as well as via skype, Ukraine. It really touched me

when as we couldn’t fly into Ukraine and the ladies couldn’t fly

out, the passion and spirit these ladies displayed in wanting to

be chartered, and after viewing several alternatives, we all

agreed the best option would be technology - skype. It is a

moment I will never forget as we all felt the emotion and

shared in the joy with Ukraine. Although they were thousands

of kilometres away, we felt we were right there in the room

with them. Together with LC France, LC Morocco and LC GB&I,

together we celebrated the magical moment of these ladies and

against all odds, joined our family! Congratulations to Ines and

LC Tunisia together with Mira and LC Ukraine!

Uganda will be our 4th and last country to charter for the year and will be happy to hear of more coun-

tries supporting this charter.

Please be on the lookout for the article of a group of Belgium

Circlers which travelled to Cambodia to visit our ISP, Children

of the Dump. Thanks to Facebook and the endless posting of

photos, we experienced the trip with the ladies visiting the site.

Thank you for the constant support, and please keep support-

ing our ISP for these much needed funds.

It is with sad news that we bid farewell to Heidi Johansen our

Weblady of a year and a half that decided to resign on her own

accord due to personal reasons. I cannot thank Heidi enough

for all the hard work she has put in for Ladies Circle Interna-

tional, especially our new website that has taken many hours to develop. We will miss her smile and

laughter but wish her all the very best.

With the Easter holidays and celebrations approaching, I wish you all safe travels at the same time

enjoy spending time with family and friends. As this period may be over some of our Circles AGM’s,

wishing you all wonderful AGM’s as you celebrate your successes and welcome your new National

Boards in.

If I do not see you all soon, I will most definitely see you all in Akureyri, Iceland.

Until then ….. Encourage, Empower Enjoy!

Dear Circlers, 6 months already completed as a Boardie and I am happy to share with you all that I am enjoying my time on the Board. One very important thing is I am also learning more about myself and my capabilities (the good, the bad and the ugly) and seeing that my capacity is being enlarged simply because I am a Circler! As my interactions with Circlers on different levels and stratas increase I am growing as a person my understanding is deepening and relationships being birthed and the old ones improving. This gives me a new sense of excitement and accomplishment because I believe that it is key for us to form stronger bonds of friendship in order to do “service” better. In my books I say we are winning. I have been up to a lot of things and I have been doing a fair amount of travelling from Hong Kong where I got together with ladies from LC HK and LC Zimbabwe, through to Mauritius. Since the last newsletter I have had contact with Circlers from Zambia, Zimbabwe, Madagascar, La Reunion,

Mauritius, South Africa and of course my home Botswana. I also met an Old Circlers who are now either Tangent or Agora – our sisters in the lovely name of Friendship. I have also had come into contact with the never failing support of Round Table – without whom Side by Side would be such an empty phrase. End of February I witnessed the birth of LC Mauritius and encountered the sweet energy of the Circlers who are from the Islands. LC Madagascar and La Reunion came to support in numbers and I must say that overnight we all become professional “sega” dancers. It was revitalising to see the love and friendship that exists by virtue of being Circlers and the Tablers did an excellent job at supporting Side by Side. For the record Mauritius is beautiful and so are the people. If you don’t believe me go and see for yourself in February 2016. I was a part of MTM Africa Region which was held in Botswana and I am pleased to tell my friends

how they put together a splendid MTM that was enjoyed by all. A very hearty and proud thank you to National President Sumaya and her capable Board for hosting us in true Circle hospitality. No doubt those who attended other MTM’s had great meetings and great fun catching up with new and old friends. Those of us who did not attend any meetings, may I encourage you to plan to attend the meetings next year. It is very important for progress that as many Circlers attend meetings like MTM’s to contribute to the development of our amazing organisation….and progress begins with showing up. There are also travel grants available so let make an effort to be at an MTM in 2016 and

future MTM’s. Whilst I am on MTM’s I might as well encourage us to register and attend the AGM in Akureyri, Iceland. Their traffic lights show hearts when it’s RED. How precious is that? This is definitely not a party to miss. The early bird registration closes on April 9th. If we don’t plan at all then we plan to fail.

Speaking of travel plans, here are mine for the near future I really hope to bump into some of you at these destinations: April: Cyprus for Tangent International AGM and LC Cyprus AGM June: LC Uganda Charter and BM 4 in Rome

Till next time I leave you with this challenge: Live in Encouragement, Stay Empowered and keep Enjoying this phenomenon called Circling.

Much Love as Always, Rue, LCI Vice President 2014—2015

Great success for the MTM Copenhagen & MTM Wiener-Neustadt

I was very happy and enthusiastic to attend, together with LCI IPP Gitte, both the Nordic & Middle European regions MTM’s. The first was held in Copenhagen - Denmark from the 23rd till the 25th of January and the second in Wiener-Neustadt - Austria from the 5th till the 7th of February. Both were great a success, perfect organization, a large number of participants, wide variety in the venues and of course always a very warm welcome that contributed to make these MTM’s great and amazing events.

140 lovely mermaids at MTM Copenhagen Partying started on Friday evening with the welcome “home parties” where the Danish ladies welcomed us warmheartedly in their homes scattered over Copenha-gen. A wonderful meal served with Danish spirits, lots of chit chat and laughter. The home party I attended sud-denly turned into an improvised disco night in the living room of my host. But the night was not yet over. Indeed all the ladies found themselves together at the Hornsleth Bar in the heart of Copenhagen where the most coura-geous ladies stayed dancing until early in the morning.

Next morning 140 la-dies took their places in the conference room to follow a meeting that was headed like a boss by the Convenor Anna-Sofie Ploug-mand. It was a well-organized meeting full of worthwhile, inter-active and participative discussions. Big surprise for our lunch when suddenly a hot-dog caravan pulled up outside of the confer-

ence room where everybody was treated with delicious hot dogs with sauerkraut, mustard and not foreseen snowflakes …But the winter cold didn’t affect us because we were surrounded by the warmth of friendship that united all the ladies of Northern Europe.

When the sun was gone it was time for our evening party where all the ladies present

rivaled with elegance for the gala evening in restaurant Prag. A gastronomic feast attended us before ending the night on the dance floor again with great music and all ladies singing their hearts out on the greatest hits played by the disk jockey. It was a great evening full of catching up, meeting new friends, fun and friendship! Thank you LC Den-mark and the MTM team for your warm

welcome and the fantastic work making this a great and un-forgettable MTM in Copenhagen. And a special thanks to my good friend Gitte for hosting me and driving me around during the entire weekend.

Imperial and magical pre-tour in Vienna

Together with my friend Clotilde from LC Belgium, we landed in Vienna early morning Tuesday 3rd February. Just set foot in the hotel lobby and we al-ready made friends with some ladies from GB&I whom arrived with a large delegation. Without hesitation we join them and left all together for a very long walk through the streets of the Capital. Very soon we were overwhelmed by the splendor of the city. What a beauti-ful town it is! The monuments rivaled with each other in size and beauty, the opera, the cathedral, the imperial palace… We walked for a long time and we didn’t even see everything when we got back to the hotel. After lunch, together with the rest of

the group (including German and GB&I Ladies) we joined our organizer lady the lovely Doris accompanied by our tour guide Reinhart. We were ready to start the guided visit. With

a bus we left to visit the Hunderwasser House, the Palace Schonbrunn and afterwards we had a ride on the famous giant wheel Prater.

At the end of the day we left for what was to become an unfor-gettable evening in the best Viennese traditions at Heuriger Wolff. Welcomed by our hostess Maria Or-salic (dressed in traditional attire) and several La-dies from Vienna, we had the pleasure to savor wonderful local dishes accompanied by the music of traditional violin and accordion players. And of course lots of sing songs by all the ladies present. The next morning we headed back for Vienna even

though our feet couldn’t take it any more from the day before but there was so much to see and all was so beautiful that it was still a pleasure. We visited amongst other things the Lipizzaner sta-bles, the impressive St Stephen’s Cathedral and the Sissi Museum with of course a stopover at the fa-mous Hofburg Café. The day ended with a delightful

musical evening at the Kursalon Wien where we enjoyed some aria from Mozart and Strauss, with a fantastic orchestra, opera singers and ballet dancers. A real feast! Thank you all for contributing to make this visit so memorable and a special thanks to Doris who made us a wonderful imperial pre-tour!

MTM & blowing 10 candles for LC Wiener-Neustadt At 5 o’clock started the Official opening ceremony in Wiener-Neustadt Town hall. A formal and warm moment altogether. The ceremony was marked by the warm-hearted greetings of the (lady) Mayor of the town and the heartfelt and friendly welcome of the Austrian Ladies all dressed up in their tradi-tional attire. The evening continued with the wel-come party, another amazing evening filled with fun and friendship, musical entertainment by a Ty-rolean Style Band, delicious local specialties and huge glasses of tasty beer.

Friday morning, we attended the MTM meeting held in the Conference room of the Corvinus Hotel. Here as well a great meeting efficiently organized, presided by the lovely Convenor Doris Frotscher. It was a meeting full of fruitful discussions, interactive and participative.

When the evening came, all Ladies looking splendid in their black and white gala outfit met in the Sparkassensaal, a really stunning historic ballroom elegantly decorated for the gala party. Again we shared tremendous moments in warm and international atmosphere and it was wonderful to celebrate with so many Ladies the 10th Anniversary of LC6 Wiener-Neustadt.

The next day after an enormous and delicious farewell brunch, we were back to Vienna where Clotilde and I were happy to play tourist guide for Gitte and ACI Secretary Karin before our return home on Saturday evening. Thank you LC Austria, the MTM team and the lovely ladies of LC Wiener-Neustadt for your wholehearted welcome and the tremendous moments we spent in Austria. You really made these days unforgettable! International Service Project Update

Children of the Dump

INTERNATIONAL NEWSLETTER ISP CHILDREN OF THE DUMP - March 2015

Dear Ladies,

In this newsletter you will find an overview of the trip of the 20 Belgian Ladies that travelled to Cam-bodia in January 2015 to visit “Children of the Dump”. There is still time to donate or sponsor a child. Our aim is to raise at least the same amount (49.000€) as last year.

DEADLINE for contributions is June 30th 2015.

Project info:

Children of the Dump was founded in 2004 when two young Flemish visited the Stung Meanchy (Pnom Penh) dump site in Cambodia during their trip through South-East Asia. They were deeply distressed by the degrading circumstances in which young children try to survive by collecting recyclable items such as glass, plastic or aluminium. The children grow up living and working long hours in a dangerous and poisonous environment where even breathing is unhealthy. These children risk their lives for a few

pennies.

A local charity helper Mech Sockha, who grew up on the dump himself, founded the Center for Chil-dren’s to Happiness (CCH) in 2002. The CHH currently supports more than 130 children some of them only toddlers. The main target for the CHH is to protect the kids and create opportunities by providing them a shelter, healthy food, clothing, medical care and education. Some images say more than a thousand words so please click on the attached link to watch the touching four-minute

video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4gHBw6YP_M

The 14-days trip was guided by Nik Messely, President of the foundation. The different site visits gave us the opportunity to meet the local team and visit the projects realized with our donations. The philosophy of the CCH is simple, efficient and successful. They provide vulnerable children of the dump with education and training in order to allow them to escape the atrocities of the dump. CCH has an orphanage to host toddlers rescued from the dump, provides them education and/or skills un-til they are ready to start a professional life and become self-sufficient. It was a valuable experience to witness that Ladies' Circle contribution is efficiently used and makes a great difference in offering these children a successful future.

Highlights of the trip:

Dumps in Phnom Penh, CCH Orphanage in Phnom Penh, International school of CCH in Phnom Penh

and Don Bosco Technical School in Sihanoukville

Mid Term Meeting—Austria

After all the time of preparation, we were really looking forward to welcome our guests in Austria. Lots of Ladies started with the pre-tour in beautiful Vienna. A sightseeing-tour, a trip on the giant wheel, visiting Schönbrunn, a Mozart & Strauss concert, a little time for shopping and lots of fun at

a typical "Heurigen" was done.

Finally they all came to Wiener Neustadt. On Thursday evening we had a very warm welcome at the old town house. After that we went over to a typical Austrian buffet at a "Heurigen" with some au-thentic live music. We were very happy to meet each other again and to get to know new Ladies from almost all over the world!

Friday morning was time for the meeting, or for a guided walk through Wiener Neustadt. In the af-ternoon everybody dressed up for the big evening - the gala dinner "black & white" in a really nice, old, newly renovated location in the heart of our city. We had prepared a small welcome-drink for everybody including a present to remember this weekend: a schnapps glass with the Austrian MTM-Logo! After the opening-speech of Mary Orsolic, our Austrian National President, it was time to cele-brate this come-together and the 10 years of Ladies Circle 6 Wiener Neustadt. We got so many birthday wishes and nice presents! Thanks a lot! A big surprise was the visit of our local TV-Team: they made interviews and put it into a nice trailer: http://www.wntv.at/page/video/MTMyMzl3. At midnight there was the tombola with very special gifts: a registration for the Austrian AGM, a regis-tration for the LCI-Conference in Iceland, a voucher for a vacation trip in Austria, a camera, an Austrian "Dirndl" and VIP-Vouchers for a Red Bull Air-Race. After that the official part of the even-ing was done and there was time for party, dancing, talking, chilling, visiting the bar and having fun till the morning.

On Saturday most of us met again at the farewell-brunch. It was time to say goodbye and we hope

to see you again very soon in the big world of Ladies Circle. We were so happy to meet all of you, to make new friends and to have a really good time together.

We Ladies from Austria are very proud to have hosted the MTM!

Mid Term Meeting—Botswana

LC Botswana played host to fellow circlers from South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe for the MTM African Region during the weekend of the 23rd - 25th of January 2015.

It was an awesome and memorable weekend indeed with lots of fun and dancing way into the early hours of the morning. The spirit of love and friendship engulfed the occassion, friendships were formed, renewed and great memories shared. It truly was inspiring that we were all gathered for the same cause and the same vision .There was much meaningful dialogue and decisions were made in respect of the various burning issues brought forth by the other countries. We were all certainly encouraged, empowered and thoroghly enjoyed ourselves.

Yours in Friendship

Mid Term Meeting—Portugal

Dear Ladies,

Just to share with you all that MTM 2015 in Cascais was a warm and joyful get together.

52 participants came to Cascais town from 9 different countries on the weekend of 29th

January until 1st February 2015. We had a wonderful time together, and a very productive

and participative meeting, discussing our common MTM Agenda.

During the days before the ladies had the opportunity to visit Lisbon and Sintra cities, with a bit of rain but with a cheerful disposition, and a lot of shopping opportunities.

On Saturday, after the meeting, the sun encouraged our walking and photo challenge

(#mtm2015cascais #ladiescircleinternational), and we are still receiving and analysing the pictures to select the winners. We’ll keep you updated on that!

It was for us a very important moment to host an official LCI meeting for our neighbouring

countries, and also to welcome an Agora representing board member and some Tablers and 41’s to this great and memorable event.

Looking forward to see you in circling soon!

Yours in International Friendship

Charter of Mauritius—28th February 2015

The 28th of February 2015 will ever remain carved in the history of Ladies Circle Mauritius; our

Chartering Night. A night of friendship and happiness.

The Chartering protocol which took place during our Ga-

la night was an awesome moment and the presence of

our Ladies Circle International President Chantess Wig-

gill, Ladies Circle International Vice President Ruth

Hungwe, and Ladies from our Godmother clubs LC Mad-

agascar, Ladies from LC Reunion Island, Tangent Jean-

ett Korch and her family, fellow Tablers and Club 41ers

made it even more special.

Receiving the Charter certificates, the speeches

and pinning of the Ladies by our Ladies Circle In-

ternational President Chantess and our God

Mother Brenda Ravo was a very emotional mo-

ment; the girls were enchanted. We ladies are

proud to be officially part of the Ladies Circle In-

ternational family. The interaction with the inter-

national Ladies present gave a new dimension to

our understanding of the aims and objects by

which we live. Together we were one! We en-

joyed the moment so much…, the fun, the love

and happiness will make our Chartering night ever mem-

orable. The Ladies were like shining stars.

To our forthcoming sister clubs to be chartered: Indeed

there’s a lot of preparation and apprehension but believe

me once you get to the chartering, it’s magical. Enjoy

the moment and celebrate!

Love and Hugs xxx

Charter of Ukraine

Mira Shpak (President of LC Ukraine):

Ladies Circle Club become huge part of my life. I had never thought that I will deal with kids or teens. And LC helps me to open my eyes and realize what I can do, how I can help and serve to the women, teens and kids. And I don’t realize my life without club activity and projects. Chartering was great step for our club. Especially in such difficult war period in Ukraine. But we are supported

and encouraged by other clubs.

Karina Grek: I am so glad to be a part of Lady's circle! It is a dream of my life. Why? Because I al-ways try to help other people who is in need of it. I feel myself so excited doing this. Also I like to make people smile. So, it is a great opportunity for me to rich my aim! Luda Tkachenko: How can I describe our official entry into the Ladies' Circle club, it's excitement and hap-piness, we've been waiting this day for long time, and it happened. Girls accepted us with warmth and open arms, very pleased to be part of this. Even after the entry, we were excited and full of energy. We proudly willing to represent Ladies' Circle in Ukraine.

Anna Tkachyk: This is my first experience of joining the inter-national club. Of course it was really exciting. I wanted to show that we really deserve it, and of course the nervous trembling started a few days earlier the Chartering Day. The most

wonderful feeling came only a few hours later - the feeling of victory, feeling that at last this long travel ended, but this does not mean that the story ends here - this is only the begin-ning. Daria Borodulina:

The Charter day was incredible! Special thanks to LC Tunisia for such a warm reception, which inspired me to participate in future projects and es-tablish new contacts. I am glad to join LCI community and its traditions.

18 Icelandic Ladies travelled to Vilnius for the 55th LCI Con-

ference. We also had 6 partners traveling with us so the Vi-

king spirit was running high :) Many members of the Open

you heart 2015 team were in the group and we were deter-

mined to make notes of all the things we wanted to learn

from the Lithuanian Ladies. The conference was very well

organized and Lina and her team, both Lithuanian and Latvi-

an, did a great job of making us feel welcome.

We realize that this was a very big task for such a small

group of Ladies but that just goes to show how friend-ship

and service can trans-late into strong teamwork. A lovely

bowl was presented to our 2015 convenor Hildur. Only upon

arrival in Iceland did we notice that it has an Icelandic in-

scription on the bottom. Somehow the bowl made it from

Akureyri to Vilnius! What a wonderful surprise. We are how-

ever not sure how the bowl came to be in Vilnius and would

love to know how. Thank you Amber Lady Team.

The conference website is a work in progress but is al-

ways improving. We hope that you find comprehensive

information there but if you have any further questions

please don´t hesitate to let us know. We also have a very

active Face-book group where we will also be posting up-

dates, information, fun facts and pictures. In addition we

have a FAQ Facebook group where we will answer ques-

tions regarding registration, accommodation etc. If there

are any questions or you need assistance please contact

[email protected].

Early bird registration

We have now opened the registration on the website. The first to register was Bronwenn Odendal. She

was live via Skype at the Ladies Circle Iceland Councillors meeting held in Akureyri October 18th. Our

convenor Hildur spoke to Bronwenn and helped her through the registration process. Early bird regis-

tration is open until April 9th and after that you can register at higher prices until June 20th We have

done our very best to keep prices as low as possible. We accept credit cards and would like to encour-

age those to pay with them if possible. Money transfer will also

be made available. Please be sure to let us know if there are any

special requirements regarding food or anything else. Many have

asked about home hosting. We will be make home hosting avail-

able on a first come-first serve basis.

If there is anything unclear about the registration process please

let us know and we will provide assistance. We already have 14

countries with registered representatives. As usual the Finnish

ladies are at the top of the attendance list. We are wondering

which country can give them competition for the attendance tro-

phy this year :) We look forward to seeing you all and opening

our hearts to you in Akureyri.

How to travel to and within Iceland

You can travel through many European cities directly to Iceland. The easiest connection is

via London. We encourage you to use search engines such as dohop.com to find the least

expensive flights. The Icelandic airlines, Icelandair and WOW air, both have several flights a

week from major airports within Europe. Once in Keflavík there are buses every half hour to

Reykjavík. From Reykjavík you can take domestic flights to Akureyri or a bus from the bus

terminal. Should you choose to drive yourself, rental cars are available at Keflavík Airport.

We have arranged LC bus rides to and from Akureyri. There are buses to Akureyri on

Wednesday and Thursday at 10am and from Akureyri at 11 Am Sunday. The price for the LC

bus is 6500 one way. Further information is on the conference website: (Travelling in Ice-

land).

We offer a variety of tours before, during and after the conference. The pre-tours will take

you from Keflavík to Akureyri in time for the conference events. We have 2-3 day tours

ranging in prices from approximately 345-360 Euros. We have already had many reserva-

tions so please do not wait to long to register for pre-tours if you are interested. We also

have a wide range of day tours available,. Whale watching, horse-back riding, Jewels of the

north, Mývatn nature baths and more. For those who prefer to plan their own free time,

Akureyri offers a variety of restaurants, coffee shops, stores, museums and art galleries. A

trip the swimming pool with naturally hot water is also a favourite thing to do in Akureyri.

Akureyri is located in the north of Iceland about 400 km from the capital city of Reykjavík.

The population is around 18 thousand . It is a popular tourist destination in the summer and

winter alike. Tourist information can be found at the HOF culture centre, the venue for the

AGM. Most of the attractions are in walking distance so you should have no trouble exploring

Akureyri on your own. Here´s one fun fact for you. The LCI2005 convenor, Sigrún Björk Jak-

obsdóttir, was the mayor of Akureyri 2007-2009.

Fun facts about Iceland

Iceland has a population of 320 thousand.

Beer was illegal in Iceland until 1989. The 1st of

March is now affectionately referred to as Beer

day :)

Keflavík airport is named “Leifsstöð” after the

Icelandic explorer Leifur Eiríksson who discov-

ered “Vínland” in the year 1000. Vínland is

called America today so the name didn´t

stick :)

Icelandic water is very clean. You are perfectly

safe to drink ice cold and fresh water from the

tap. No need to buy bottled water :)

Dear friends,

Within the charity project of 2014/2015, Ladies' Circle Latvia prepared and offered to our members

and several companies to purchase Christmas greeting cards that have been drawn and created by

the children and teenager girls from the children's home "Vita". The aim was to show children how

they can help in supporting orphans, not just receive support for them own. The project was success-

ful - 918€ have been donated to “Vita” and the Infant’s Ward of Riga Orphan’s Care Centre. But we

didn't stop at this! In January we received beautiful yarn as donation, so teenage girls from "Vita" knit

by themselves scarves and socks, which also will be given to the little babies.
