Programs and Services are available to both residents and non-residents of the Town of Dyer, Indiana. Residents are those that
pay taxes to the Town of Dyer through your property tax bill. Residents also typically pay for water service through the Town of
Dyer and not a private water provider. Unincorporated areas of Dyer, Indiana 46311 are non-residents as zero of your tax dollars support the Town of Dyer and respective
departments. Non-residents typically pay a higher fee for participation in most programs and events. If you have a question as to whether or
not you are a resident, please call us with your address. Please be prepared to show proof of residency at registration.
Town of Dyer Residents and Non-Residents
In a continued effort to bring more recreational opportunities to the residents of the Town of Dyer, Dyer Parks & Recreation has entered
into a partnership with Munster Parks & Recreation.
Town of Dyer residents can register for recreation programs with Munster Parks & Recreation at the Munster resident rate.
Registration for the Munster program must be done through the Town of Munster. This partnership does not include pool fees (season
passes, admission or rental fees), facility rentals (shelters, gazebo, dog park, Plum Creek Center, social center), or Munster ‘Keen-ager’ programs. For more information contact Munster Parks & Recreation
at (219) 836-PARK.
Dyer-Munster Recreation Partnership
Help improve the quality of life and the environment by having a tree planted in one of your Dyer Parks to remember or honor a person or
organization. A minimum donation of $200 will purchase a tree. You may designate the park but Dyer Parks & Recreation will
determine the exact location. Trees are planted each fall. As part of your donation, the person’s name, year of donation and park will be added to one of the Living Tree Memorial plaques on display at the
Dyer Town Hall.
Park Bench Memorials are also available. For a donation of $750 we will install a park bench with a plaque on the seat back of the bench in a park of your choice. Exact locations will be determined by staff
but suggestions are welcome. For more information on either program contact Dyer Parks & Recreation at (219) 865-2505.

Village introduces multiple levels of activities appropriate for the different stages of development in this age range. Relaxation and social times are built into the 45-minute lesson to meet adult needs. Two key elements to Kindermusik Village are the variety and repetition. Home activities help involve and educate the parent about the importance of baby’s musical learning and reinforce concepts learned in class. Parent/caregiver participation required. Dream Pillow: Baby is the star in Dream Pillow, with each activity carefully planned to stimulate the developing brain, thereby promoting physical, social, cognitive, emotional, and language development. But it is the parent who is watching and guiding this little star on the rise, and Dream Pillow, like all Village units, is written with the parent very much in mind. “Skinnamarink” and many other favorite songs to enjoy! (7 weeks) Zoom Buggy: How many ways can Baby and Parent zoom in Kindermusik Village? Hop in the Zoom Buggy and find out! Through a variety of songs, chants, and instrumental selections you will experience the rumbling of a baby buggy, the squeaky stroller, the bumpa bumpa bumpa of the wagon, the train chuggin’ up the track and much more. (7 weeks) Material fee includes: 2 CD’s, 2 books, 2 instruments, 2 art banners. Code: Days: Dates: Time: No class: Registration Deadline: 1019 Thursdays Sept. 11 - Dec. 18 12:30pm - 1:15pm Nov. 27 Sept. 5 1020 Fridays Sept. 12 - Dec. 19 10:35am - 11:20am Nov. 28 Sept. 5 Fee: $140 residents / $145 non-residents (per session) Material Fee: $70 payable to instructor on 1st day Location: Town Hall (Activity Room B)
In Kindermusik classes, the instructor leads a group of parents and their children through joyful activities, using music and movement. Parents learn more about their child’s unique developmental process, and the shared learning experience creates a bond as the child associates learning with fun, musical play. Sign language is incorporated into each of the classes. Material fees are paid to the instructor at the first class. This fee is in addition to the program fee. Min. 4/Max. 8 students per class.
Kindermusik Programs
Kindermusik Village (newborn – 2 years old with parent/caregiver): 14 week session
Kindermusik Our Time (2 – 3½ years old with parent/caregiver): 14 week session
The key element to Kindermusik Our Time is the use of developmentally appropriate guidelines. Children learn through interaction with materials, adults, other children and their environmental space. Exploration Time encourages your child’s discovery of instruments, textures, sounds and movement. The anticipation and rewards of listening are introduced, and with turn taking activities, social skills blossom. This class prepares your child for the independence of preschool. Parent/caregiver participation is required. Milk and Cookies: Imagine the aroma of baking cookies, the coziness of the family kitchen, the chatter among sisters, brothers, grandmas, granddads, mom and dad, and the anticipation and excitement of having friends come to visit. Captured in Milk and Cookies, these special moments at home are times to be shared and treasured. Milk and Cookies songs and activities promote interaction between parent and child where the parent gently guides their child’s learning and the process of scaffolding takes place. Capturing the security, excitement and familiarity of “at home” moments is the ideal theme for empowering the parent to act as the teacher.
Materials fee includes: 2 CD’s, home activity book, 2 music and movement books, stir Xylophone instrument, insulated lunch bag.
Code: Days: Dates: Time: No class: Registration Deadline: 1022 Tuesdays Sept. 9 - Dec. 16 10:45am - 11:30am Nov. 11 Sept. 5 1023 Thursdays Sept. 11 - Dec. 18 10:00am - 10:45am Nov. 27 Sept. 5 1024 Fridays Sept. 12 - Dec. 19 9:30am - 10:15am Nov. 28 Sept. 5 Fee: $155 residents / $160 non-residents (per session) Material Fee: $65 payable to instructor on 1st day Location: Town Hall (Activity Room B)
Kindermusik Imagine That! (3½ – 5 years old without parent): 14 week session
The class is designed for children to attend without an adult for about 45 minutes and then parents/caregivers and siblings join the class for the last 10-15 minutes for sharing time. Within the weekly lessons and at home, your preschooler’s unique affinity to learn through pretend play is the foundation to this musical curriculum. The first class parents will attend the full class without siblings and there will be no sharing time. Hello Weather, Let’s Play Together: Books, storytelling, language, drama, puppets—these are all essential ingredients to the Imagine That! curriculum. Hello Weather, Let’s Play Together is no exception, encouraging families to enjoy music and special times together in all types of weather! Children will explore the connected, smooth sounds of legato and the separated sounds of staccato. They’ll learn about fast and slow tempos. Adding to the thrill of at home projects such as making wind chimes, rain hats, sleigh bells and snow boots! Material fee includes: 2 instruments, 2 literature books, 2 CD’s, Family Activity Book, a play set and backpack Code: Days: Dates: Time: No class: Registration Deadline: 1026 Mondays Sept. 8 - Dec. 15 1:00pm - 1:45pm Nov. 3 Sept. 5 1027 Tuesdays Sept. 9 - Dec. 16 9:30am - 10:15am Nov. 11 Sept. 5 Fee: $170 residents / $175 non-residents (per session) Material Fee: $70 payable to instructor on 1st day Location: Town Hall (Activity Room B)

A reservation guarantees the shelter availability for the day desired. Town ordinance also requires any group of 15 or more people must have a permit to use the parks. Full payment (fee + deposit) in the form of cash or check is accepted to hold the date and is non-refundable. The clean-up and damage deposit of $50 is mandatory for all shelter reservations and is refundable upon Park Board approval. The 7% Indiana General Sales Tax is added to the fees below but not to the clean-up and damage deposit. Shelters are typically available for reservations between May 15 - October 15.
