The Congressional Art Competition is an annual, nation-wide high school arts competition sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. All public, private and home-schooled high school students, residing in Congressman Gerry Connolly’s 11th Congressional District, were invited to participate. Art works submitted to this competition are on exhibit at the Workhouse Arts Center from April 19 – May 3. From the submitted works of art, five judges selected six winners, announced by Congressman Gerry Connolly at the May 3 Artist Reception. The top winner in each district will have his or her art on exhibit in the United States Capitol for a year, where it will be seen by millions.
“This annual contest provides a unique opportunity for young artists in Fairfax and Prince William to join with other students from across the nation to showcase their artistic creativity and talent,” Congressman Connolly said. “It is my pleasure to host this competition for high school students in the 11th Congressional District and highlight the importance of the fine arts.”
