    On the market trend side, we notice theincreasing on the mobile web technology. Inthe last several months, we have been workingwith a lot projects using HTML5/ CSS3 andResponsive Web Design (RW D). CSC was requested to fully buildHCC Mobile app using HTML5 & J QuerryMobilefor three brands which are York, Luxairie andColeman and the app is required to workperfectly on smart phone, tablet and PC. Toyota

    TEMA just came after that with the VOLG

    (Voice Of Leader Group) project where wedeveloped a RWD web application thatpresents single consolidated view of GroupLeader information requiring action willallow for Group Leaders to more quickly,accurately, and effectively assessinformation for actions they need to take.And the storm has just been started as it is

    anticipated that there are more demands tocome on this technology.

    Last but not least, we put the effort ingetting many different certificates in mobiletechnology. We are now certified withProgramming in HTML5 with J S & CSS3,Titanium Certified Developer, MobileIronAdministrator Certification, MCPD onWindows Phone, just to name a few. In thenext period, we continue to engage in manymobility certificates program on varioust e c h n o l o g i e s , i n c l u d i n g H T M L 5 ,Appcelerator, IBM Worklight and SAPMobility.

    SOFTWARE ESTIMATIONA SEMI-AUTOMATIC ESTIMATION APPROACH

    SELECTED IN THE HONORABLE

    MENTION IN THE 2014CSC PAPERS PROGRAM

    We would like to extend our warmest congratulations to Dr. Thanh Chanh Nguyen, an employeeof CSC Vietnam, who has been selected in the Honorable Mention in the 2014 CSC PapersProgram.

    Dr. Thanh's topic is about Software Estimation A Semi-Automatic Estimation Approach whichhas been selected among a great number of submitted papers and it is highly appreciated by thecommittee led by Mr. Dan Hudson Chief Technology Officer of CSC.

    Congratulations to you Dr. Thanh! We are so proud of you!

    Highlight about the Soft w are Estim ation A Semi-Au to matic Estim ation Ap pro ach

    Software estimation is one of the most important activities in the software development cycle inmany of CSCs development centers around the world. There are many estimation methods, such

    as Function Point Analysis (FPA), COCOMO, ROM and Delphi, but experts apply them aftermanually doing software requirements analysis. This takes a lot of time and also impactsestimation quality. The aim of this research is to investigate a way that can help estimatorsanalyze requirement documents automatically to provide initial results in the first step, then do amapping between those results and parameters of the selected approach, and processautomatically the estimation process in the last step. After that, estimators can retrieve finalresults to review and adjust. The initial experiment of our research has been re-applied on FPAfor some previous projects in the Vietnam Center. There was some noisy input in the first stepprocessing that influenced the requirements analysis quality, but our approach has shown to be afeasible way to do estimation activities in a development center.

    1. Considering purchasing a room airconditioner? Consider an ENERGY STARqualified model. They use at least 10percent less energy than standard models.

    2. If possible, install a programmablethermostat to automatically adjust yourhome's temperature settings when you'reaway or sleeping.

    3. Consumer electronics play an increasinglylarger role in your home's energyconsumption, accounting for 15 percent ofhousehold electricity use. Many consumerelectronics products use energy evenwhen switched off. Electronics equipmentthat has earned the ENERGY STAR helpssave energy when off, while maintainingfeatures like clock displays, channelsettings, and remote-control functions.

    4. A ten minute shower can use less waterthan a full bath.

    5. Make sure all air registers are clear offurniture so that air can circulate freely. Ifyour home has radiators, place heat-resistant reflectors between radiators andwalls. In the winter, this will help heat theroom instead of the wall.

    6. During cold weather, take advantage of thesun's warmth by keeping drapes open duringdaylight hours. To keep out the heat of thesummer sun, close window shades anddrapes in warm weather.

    7. Save water by scraping dishes instead ofrinsing them before loading in thedishwasher. Run your dishwasher with a fullload and use the air-dry option if available.

    8. Wash your laundry with cold water wheneverpossible. To save water, try to wash full loadsor, if you must wash a partial load, reducethe level of water appropriately.

    9. Don't over dry your clothes. If your dryer hasa moisture sensor that will automatically turnthe machine off when clothes are done, use itto avoid over drying. Remember to clean thelint trap before every load. Dry full loads, orreduce drying time for partial loads. Learnmore.

    iPOS W H E R E C L E A R

    INTEGRAL Point of Sale (aka. iPos) is astrategic project in INTEGRAL program of CSC

    Vietnam. It is aimed to run the marketing and saleaspects on a broad spectrum of lines in Life andNon-Life Insurance Industries, including facilitatingcustomer and agent interactions, such as benefitillustration, financial analysis, e-signature andpayment activities. The architecture of iPos isbased on SOA (Service Oriented Architecture)paradigm which embraces cutting-edgeinnovations that offer the loose coupling andisolated scalability of the system.

    Back in early 2010, when the insurance domain hadbeen totally new at CSC Vietnam, following thelead of Yeu Fui Mak, who was a SolutionArchitecture from CSC Singapore, Hiep B Nguyen,Son H Le stepped up to the plate and startedworking on seed ideas to build iPos, which was atthe conceptual stage and implied many risks aswell as challenges.

    Nevertheless, as pioneers, they knew from bottomof their hearts that by venturing into the unknownsis the only way to find new frontiers.

    Two years of working like a Trojan, after severaltrials and errors, many prototypes had beenproposed, one of them eventually got the greenlight to proceed with the project and finally iPoswas born in 2012.

    Early 2013, Son once again rolled up his sleeves towork diligently on demonstrations in order toattract potential clients. His teams continuouseffort was paid off when they got their firstengagement from a customer in Indonesia - TMLI(Tokio Marine Life Insurance) - in March, 2013.Never resting on laurels, along with TMLI went-livein February 2014, iPos continued to expand theirgeographic footprints with other clients acrossAsia. eTiqa Life Lion, a Singapore InsuranceCompany which is a branch of Malaysia MaybankGroup, was chosen to be the next destination inSeptember 2013. eTiqa then became a realblockbuster. Resource staffed as rapidly as peoplecould be hired and reached to a number of 30+ at

    peak. The product also drew the attention fromRichard Wilhelm, Vice President and GeneralManager Global Software GDN, who also paid a visitto CSC Vietnam in March 2014. He was reallyattracted by the product demonstrationconducted by Son at eTown office while he wastaking the facility tour there and he spent over halfan hour talking with the team to understand moreabout iPoss functionalities.

    Looking back upon the past, iPoss success has beenand still is attributed to CLEAR values which theteam set in the stone as their goals: Client Focused,Leadership, Execution Excellence, Aspiration,Results .

    iPos development team always put Client in centerwhen developing their functionalities. Not onlyproviding to end-users an elegant user experience,the system also ensured the security andperformance of the transactions, strengthentransparency around agent activities and fosteringcustomer collaboration. It has never been that easybefore when a large, bureaucratic, and cumbersomeprocess of marketing and selling insurance policies isnow cost as much as the time spent for sipping themorning coffees simply with couple of touches on a

    tablet.Members in the Management board took a crucialpart in the success of the project. Trang T KimNguyen, Khoa X Nguyen and project managersshowed their strong leaderships and managementskills on practicing and tailoring Agile methodologyto meet the needs of stakeholders and streamlineproject activities. They have also been on top of theirgame where their primary job is to anticipate theupcoming storms and to lead the team to safelyavoid their paths.

    While the project managers fulfilled theirresponsibilities as excellent captains guiding the way,

    a strong crew was needed to carry the ship to itsdestination. iPos members were very young, thoughlack of experience, they were very creative andalways good team players. They possessed not onlycompetent skills but also the working attitudes whichalways went beyond their calls of duty. Memberswere highly responsive, always did their best andwere willing to pulling out all the stops to makereleases delivered successfully, on time and with highquality.

    Last but not least, with the "cloud" namedSeviceMesh is coming to fit into the big picture, iPos,a fat land fertilized by CLEAR nutrition, in whichyoung talents can be seeded and leaders areprovided with great opportunities to engage. Theupcoming roadmap is opening the visions of manyfeatures which promise to drum up more business aswell as challenges. iPoss next-generation will have toprovide solutions for IT big trends such as BYOD(Bring your own device) to support multiple devicesand the cloud landscape which demands migratingto cloud-based services. By remaining focused onthe clients, keeping aspiration, momentum andstrong leadership, iPos team will definitely achievetheir goals with flying colors in the next journey.

    A DISTRIBUTED VERSION CONTROL SYSTEM(SERIES 3)

    ABSTRACT

    In this article, I will walk you through Git workflow to accommodate development purposes andhow Git can be integrated with other systems such as GitHub. If you have not already knownabout Git, please check out the Git overview in CSC Vietnam Newsletter Vol. 19 [1]. Gits commonfeatures can also be found in CSC Vietnam Newsletter Vol. 20 [2]. Keywords. Git, Distributed Version Control System.

    1. DISTRIBUTED GIT W ORKFLOW

    Because of the distributed nature and the compelling branching model, any Git workflow can beadapted to our projects. One of the common workflows is the integration manager model. Inthis workflow, the integration manger is a single person who commits to the blessed repository.Other developers then clone from the blessed repository and push changes to independentrepositories.

    For a very large scale project such asLinux kernel development, the dictatorand lieutenants workflow is a goodchoice. It is quite similar to theintegration manager workflow. Butthe lieutenants are in charge of mergingcode from developers and pushingchanges to the dictator for reviewing.After all, the dictator will commitchanges to the blessed repository.

    The study of Vincent Driessen [4]presents a successful Git branchingmodel for development project as

    shown in Figure 3.In this model the main branches aremaster and develop which are inremote severs. Master is a ready branchfor production. The develop branchcontains the latest changes. Othersupporting branches such as feature,release, and hotfixes are at localdevelopers environment. The authoralso writes git-flow tool to support thismodel.

    2. GIT A ND OTHER SYSTEMS - GITHUB

    GitHub [5] is a code-hosting service using Git under the hood. It offers both public and privatehosting options including many additional features such as wiki, issue tracking, code snippets(Gits), etc.

    One of popular models of collaborative development on GitHub is the Fork & Pull. As we can seein Figure 4, the model lets anyone fork an existing repository and push changes to their personalfork without requiring granted access to the source repository. The changes must then be pulledinto the source repository by the project maintainer.

    Figure 4: Git Hub Fork & Pull mod el [6]

    To capture the model concept, lets make a real experiment on GitHub as the below scenario.

    Figure 5 and Figure 6 present how a coder forks an existing project on GitHub to his account inorder to get the Read+Write access to the project.

    Figure 5: Coder wants to cont ribute t o an existing project

    Some more demonstrated techniques ofAngularJS can be found on J S fiddles

    UI transformation using different templates:http:/ / jsfiddle.net/ hungdang1312/ jKpjY /

    Usable HTML attribute which will make ob- jec ts d rag - ab le: ht tp : / / j s f iddle .net /hungdang1312/ xu8C5/

    A NGULAR W AY

    AngularJ S promotes a different approach andthe learning curve for it might bit a littleproblematic compared to other frameworks.D e p e n d e n c y I n j e c t i o n ( h t t p :/ /docs.angularjs.org/ guide/ di ) principle is thefirst thing you need to understand before youcan master AngularJ S. The general concept isthat all dependencies should be injected tothe controller so that you can test it

    independently from other factors. For thatreason, everything is close in what so-calledAngular $scope (or $rootScope). You will notin theory have access to any of the global J Sobjects which are not a part of the scope.However, it does allow you to inject $windowscope to your Angular controller. The passe-dObject in function accessDummyObject be-low will be undefined in the example below.

    var dumyObject = .;

    / / AngularControllerfunction Controller($scope){

    $scope. accessDummyObject = func-tion(passedObject){

    };}

    To access it use $window

    function Controller($scope, $window){

    $scope. accessDummyObject = func-tion(){

    $window. dumyObject = .};

    } You are freely to use J Query accessor or callother J Query widgets inside your Angularcontroller like the one below:

    $ .pnotify ({title : Info' ,text : (msg),opacity : .8,delay : 3000 ,type : 'info' ,remove : true

    });

    However, it is totally going against Angularway and is not recommended. Rather thandoing so, you can create an AngularJ S serviceto wrap around it and inject the service intoyour controller as a dependency.

    app .factory ( 'notifyService' , function () {return {

    info : function (msg) {$ .pnotify ({

    title : Info' ,text : (msg),opacity : .8,delay : 3000,type : 'info' ,remove : true

    });},error : function (msg) {

    $ .pnotify ({title : Info'' ,text : (msg),opacity : .8,delay : 3000,type : 'error' ,remove : true

    });},

    };app .controller ( 'ReportDashboardController' ,[ '$scope' , '$http' , '$window' , '$interval' ,'notifyService' , ReportDashboardController ]) ;

    UNIT TESTING

    The framework supports unit testing with a setof tools and mock objects for you to get startedwith. J asmine (BDD unit testing framework) andKarma are two of the most used tools withAngularJ S for this purpose.

    ANGULARJS FOR .NET DEVELOPERS

    Due to the scope of the article, we could notinclude step by step instructions on how toconstruct a basic .NET app using AngularJ S.However, these tips below might be helpful toyou:

    # 1: ASP.NET MVC (and W ebA PI)

    Help speed up your development as itsupports very nice routing & Web API (withgood J SON platform). It is absolutely neededwhen working with a very Ajax centricframework like AngularJ S

    public J sonResult GetOrderDetails ( int table){

    . . . . . .return J son (model, J sonRequestBehav-

    ior .AllowGet );}/ / J avaScript file$http. get ( '/ Order/ GetOrderDetails?table=' +$scope. TableNumber ).success (function (data) {

    . . . . . . . . . .});

    # 2 : B o o t st r a p U I ( i n st e a d o f J q u e r y U I )AngularJS works well along with JQuery butnot quite so with JQuery UI . Bootstrap UI (htt p:/ / angular-ui.github.io/ bootstrap ) , on theother hand, integrate nicely with AngularJ Sand it supports a lot of beautiful and easy-to-use widgets.

    # 3 : N u Ge t Pack ag e Man ag e r (N PM) i sy o u r f r i e n d

    Try to make use of NPM as much as you canavoid manual adding J S/ CSS files into yoursolutions. Practice this installing thesepackages every time you start a new solution:1) AngularJ S2) AngularJ S UI Boostrap3) J asmine Test Framework4) Update J Query to the latest (2.00+) (if

    you want to use J Query). Default J Querywith some of the MVC version (MVC 4 es-pecially) does not work well with latestAngularJ S.

    # 4 : Sc r i p t f i l e s s h o u l d r e s p ec t c e r t a i no r d e r w h e n l o ad i n g

    1. J query (if you plan to use it)2. Scripts\ A ngularJ S.js3. Scripts\ ui-b oot strap- {version}.js (fo r

    BootStrap UI)4. Scripts\ ui-boostrap-tp ls-

    {version}.min.js ( for Boo tStrap UI)

    # 5 : U t i l i zi n g t h i r d p a r t y a p p s/ f r a m e w o r k s

    A lot of frameworks have been ported to workwell with A ngularJ S. Some examples might be:Chart library NVD3 ( htt p:/ / nvd3.org/ ) andNVD3 directives for AngularJ S ( https:/ /github.com/ cmaurer/ angularjs-nvd3-directives )

    HighChart J S ( htt p:/ / www.highcharts.com/ )and highcharts-ng ( htt ps:/ / github.com/pablojim/ highcharts-ng )

    There are a lot more from the big and rapidlygrowing community supporting A ngularJ S. Thelast thing you might do is writing your own di-rective wrapping around some widgets whichyou want to use.

    Writing your own directive: http:/ /docs.angularjs.org/ guide/ directive

    Example of using J Query UI DatePicker inAngularJ S: htt p:/ / jsfiddle.net/ hungdang1312/AS9g6/
