2014
Season
We are in the 5th year of this journey, to rebuild CHS volleyball into a consistent top valley program. These play-
ers weren’t around when the journey started in 2008. With a record of 3-28 the previous year, it was obvious that
our tasked included infusing a winning attitude and competitiveness into the program. Volleyball was not seen as
a competitive team and there was difficulty filling the rosters the first year. While building pride into the current
players, we started recruiting young by running camps and tournaments for the elementary and middle school play-
ers, and inviting the players in our younger programs to our games. Our yearly themes express our destination,
our first being “Building for Success”. Where returning to varsity used to be automatic, the girls are now being
challenged for their positions with players pushing each other to make the squads and CHS volleyball becoming
stronger and more and more competitive with every year. Winning is an expectation had by ALL!
Leading the team in 2014
We return several top players and look forward to them teaching the youngsters the competitive fire and intensity
we need to win at this level.
We return 4 seniors: Kandasya Ledieav has become one of the top attackers in the section. Last year she was
only the 3rd player in school history to make first team all valley (Lindsay Foglio 2008, Becca Quist 2012). This
was an incredible accomplishment. She is a captain, and provides leadership on and off the court. She is a 4 year
varsity player.
Seniors Monica DeAlba and Alexis Ceja are both entering their 3rd year on varsity. Monica is a 3 year starter as
setter. She is smart and competitive. Her energy and enthusiasm makes us better. She makes great decisions on
running the offense.
Alexis Ceja is a beast on defense. As one of the best liberoes in the valley, she is super quick with great anticipa-
tion and is everywhere on the court. She was recently selected to the all tournament team in the Central Cal Clas-
sic in Merced.
The Last Senior is Crystal Fields. Crystal is one of our captains and is an inspirational leader everyday at practice
and games. She brings an energy and passion to the team. She a very versatile player and can play every position
on the court.
The Juniors - Lynn Kuy - 2nd year defensive specialist is the quickest player on the team. She uses her speed
to make some incredible plays. She works hard everyday . Trinity Jordan - has emerged as one of our best
serve receive passers. A good athlete, she was moved to defense full time this year and has really stepped up and
played a big role. Kristen Hayes - a 6’2” middle that we moved to opposite . She continues to improve every-
day and is adjusting to the quicker game at the varsity level. Shanea Laird - this middle blocker will surprise the
league very soon. Strong attacker, she carries us at times. She made the all tournament team in San Diego.
Makayla Cervnates - first year varsity player, she is a very good attacker and defensive player. Has great all
round skills.
The Sophomores - Kylie Ota, 2nd year varsity setter. She got some valuable experience last season and is now
starting as a sophomore. Her setting is solid, but the real improvement this season is her leadership and defense.
Shondra Roberts - Moved from middle to opposite this season. She is seeing a lot of court time and her block-
ing is very good. She continues to improve her attacking. Makayla Riddlesprigger - Moved from middle to
OH. She is a strong attacker, working hard to improve serve and defense. Injured last season, she missed TRAC
and club season but has come back strong.
The Freshmen - Imani Lacy is an incredible leaper - she puts up a big block and big attack on the right side.
Very coachable player who has enormous potential. Maya Riddlesprigger is starting as a middle blocker. She
has more blocks entering TRAC than the entire team last year. Her attacking continues to improve. She has a
great work ethic and will be a dominate player in the very near future.
