THE END 15

Hello Sisters,

Happy New Year! ‘m very excited about what 2014 has in store for our

Association. Our success over the past year leads me to believe we will continue to make great improvements this year as well.

Thank you so much to all of our current and previous officers and members for the dedication and

support you have given to our sisterhood. It is your continued support of Alpha Delta Pi and our

Association that allows us to be in such an enjoyable place. I am happy to share that we have had over FIFTY members pay dues prior to the end of

October 2013. What a great accomplishment!

Please take a look at our calendar and

pencil in at least one of our events for this Spring! From painting night at The Art Mill to Spa Day in Murfreesboro to

Jewel Degree for Zeta Rho, there are a wide variety of opportunities to spend some quality time with your sisters.

Monthly Programming, Sister Supper and Happy Hour schedules are all

posted on our website http://nashvilleadpialums.com in addition to being listed in this newsletter.

As we move into a new year, it is already time to begin planning for next year. If you are interested in being a member of the Nominating

Committee, or are interested in holding an office, please contact a current officer and we can answer any

questions you may have. There are

many opportunities available, both big and small, so don’t hesitate to ask!

I look forward to seeing many of you

over the next few months. Thank you all so much or sharing our love and support of Alpha Delta Pi.

Loyally,

Katie Herndon, PresidentBeta Beta

Letter from the President

Association that allows us to be in such an enjoyable place

January: It’s the Spring programming kickoff! Let’s face it - we all need a break following the holidays, so come take a

night off with your sisters while we bust out some trivia! Even better - be sure to wear your favorite ADPi sweatshirts,

sweatpants or t-shirts so we can relax in style. Here are some questions to get you thinking: Can you list all 6 founders? What was the original name of Alpha Delta Pi?

What does CNN stand for?

Panhellenic Update

The Nashville Area Panhellenic Alumnae Association (NAPPA) is composed of all the NPC sororities in the Nashville area. Alpha Delta Pi is a member and has two

delegates involved in the group.

www.nashvillepanhellenic.org | www.facebook.com/NashPan

The Nashville Panhellenic Association will host a silent auction and luncheon on Saturday, March 22nd at the

Richland Country Club at 11AM. The Association will award four $1,000 scholarships to local high school seniors attending colleges that support Greek life.

Additionally the Greek Woman of the Year for each sorority will be awarded during the luncheon - if you’d like to nominate someone from our association, please send

nominations to Katie Herndon at [email protected]. Voting will take place at the February Programming meeting.

Silent auction items have been donated by members of our own alumnae association, including: Cheryl Oglesby, Julie Cox, Betty Brock and Lynn Rau.

Please contact Alice Yopp at [email protected] or Cheryl Oglesby at [email protected] to purchase tickets. Questions regarding ticket sales can also be directed to Rachel Mowl at [email protected]

Our sisters pulled together and made this fall’s garage sale happen! Donations and merchandising nights - sales galore!

Friday was crazy - with non-stop shoppers from dawn until we closed down for the day. Saturday, as you may recall, was a cold and rainy day. But brave sisters showed up, made it happen and hustled like CRAZY to make every sale between downpours.

Our fundraisers for the benefit of the Ronald McDonald house are so very important. It enables us to continue supporting the local house in so many ways.

Our Alumnae Association gains great exposure and awareness in the community

through our special relationship with RMH. Thank you again to the many

sisters who helped in ways big and small. Without each of you, this truly would not have been a success.

We were able to raise $2500 that will be used toward our

annual sponsorship of the Calls For Kids Telethon, dinners and

work parties at the house, sponsorship of Hustle for the House 5K

and more.

HUGE bouquet of violets to Sister Carolyn DeWitt for chairing our final Garage Sale!

2013-2014 Fundraising - Let’s Support RMH! The Last Hurrah: 2013 Garage Sale Fundraiser Success, Happy Hour and an Easter Egg Hunt for Pups!

On Saturday, April 5th, the Nashville ADPi Alumnae Association is organizing a fun, family friendly spring event to benefit both the Nashville Humane Association (NHA) and the Nashville Ronald McDonald House. Bring your leashed dogs down to Edwin Warner Park for our First Annual Dog Easter Egg Hunt and spring photo session. There will be several egg hunts throughout the afternoon and, if you’re lucky, you might find one of the prize eggs! The Easter egg hunt is $5 per dog, kids’ crafts are $1 each and spring photos are $5. If you are thinking of adding a pet to your family, we will also have the NHA’s Teddy’s Wagon, their mobile adoption unit, on site. Any animal adopted that day gets their photo taken and can participate in the Easter egg hunt for free! If your dog isn’t tired from the hunt, you can take them for extra off-leash fun at the Edwin Warner dog park. Additional details will be provided closer to the event, including details on volunteer positions, all of which will be listed on our website.

Easter Egg Hunt for Dogs at Edwin Warner Park Our regular monthly happy hour will

have a little extra twist on April 8th. We will meet up for drinks at the Blue Bohemian, a locally-owned boutique in Belle Meade. They are staying open late to host our evening and a percentage of

purchases that night will be donated back to our Alumnae Association!

ABOUT NASHVILLE RMH:

We are very blessed in the fact there is a Ronald McDonald House right in the heart of Nashville. Since its

opening in 1991, the Nashville RMH has served families from all over Tennessee in addition to those from Kentucky and many other states. They’ve even been called home by those from 13 foreign countries. The house has

32 bedrooms with a Family Room on the 5th Floor of the Monroe Carrell Jr. Children’s Hospital.

Our Alumnae Association will continue to support the

Nashville RMH this year in a number of ways. For our first meeting, please bring paper towels for the House Pantry.... and don’t forget to continue collecting pull-tabs! We’ll have

“collection houses” available at each meeting, so feel free to bring your pull-tabs to meeting and Pam Zimmerman will collect and deliver them to the house.

Mentoring Program

The Mentoring Program will begin in January with email information provided to each participating alumna regarding

their Zeta Rho senior match. Current plans are to coordinate our first event with the All You Can Eat Pancake fundraiser planned for January 23rd.

As part of the RMH fundraiser, each Mentor can purchase a

wristband for their mentoring partner. This will be a joint event between the Alumnae Association and Zeta Rho. We are also working on a “Meet Your Mentor” gathering on

Sunday, January 26th.

For details or to sign up, please contact Beverly Sledge at 615-973-2846 or [email protected].

Recruitment + Chapter

Zeta Rho will have recruitment in January. At this point, we’re unsure as to the number of new Alphas they’ll be able

to accept but we’re sure it’s going to be a great group!

Chapter meetings are held every Monday night beginning at 6PM. If you’d like to attend one evening, please notify Megan Myers, our Alumnae Collegiate Relations Chair at

[email protected] or at 615-830-8714. There will also be a signup sheet at the January 9th meeting.
