1.INLEIDING
Id like to investigate new trends and technology related to my job; information management / business
consultancy. Im also interested in psychology and allways keep an eye for new scientific, technology
publications. While watching a few movies about neodymium magnets on youtube, i found a few enthousiasts
who published their Do It Yourself generator by powering four lightbulbs with a CPU-fan. This really intrigued
me to ivestigate the concept for commercial use. A unit can be build with a CPU-fan inside and little flat
neodymium magnets on the blades. While putting two extra magnets with their polars aligned at the corners,
the fan starts spinning around and producing energy.
By using ten units which are separeted from echother with magnetic shielding plates, a powerfull generator in
a small case will produce 400 WATTs of power. The outlets are similar to wallsockets. In this design a concept
is shown with technical and functional specifications for a standard model. From this base concept, more
designs and concepts could be created. The generator can be used for powering any kind of consumer
elektronics, or be used commercially in an office or datacenter. When wrapping copper wire around a single
fan, even more energy could be produced.
The parts that are needed for a complete working generator are cheap, the energy that is produced applies to
standards for green and clean energy. Besides that, you dont have to worry a bout sun or wind. The generator
will produce energy 24 hours a day, seven days a week. And it doesnt make any sound. The few decibels from
the spinning fans are equal to the sound of a CPU-fan. While using a 20 cm fan like in this design, the decibels
are even lower. Think about the possibilities. When the design is further developed and changed to a flat box,
it can be stored under a bed or datacenter floor. New designs can be made based on strategic marketing
techniques.
In this document ill explain the design of a neodymium generator with technical and functional specifications.

2.FUNCTIONEEL ONTWERP
The functional specifications are written from a user perspective. gaat in op de functionele specificaties. They
key for a good functional design is to think like a customer who bought the generator and imagine what he or
she would need to use the generator in a efficient and friendly manner. The functionalities are categorized via
the MoSCoW model. This stands for Musthave, Should have, Could have, Would have. By categorizing thepriority of functionalities, an approach that suits your budget could be made. These functionalities are
basically related to a specific marketing strategy.

FUNCTIONALITY #1:ON/OFF SWITCH
There are sever options for realizing an on/off switch. The generator in
this design document has ten units. In each unit, the fan must start
spinning. Because the generator can keep generating energy 24 hours a
day, 7 days a week, ive chosen for the easi est option; a single on/off
switch on each seperate unit. It works by pushing a plug with a magnet
at the end to the corner of the fan. When the magnet reaches the fan, it
starts spinning. Another benefit of this type of on/off switch is that it is
possible to regulate the output voltage by turning more or less units on
or off.
FUNCTIONALITY #2:ACCESSING THE UNITS
By all units there must be a mechanism to open the unit and do maintenance. The top of the unit can be
removed, so the entire unit can be accessed. See also on Figure 1.

FUNCTIONALITY #3:THE CASE
The case needs to be portable and lightweight. Aluminium case is the best solution regarding these
requirements. Furthermore the case needs to have a modern design that fits properly in a livingroom, office or
any other type of workspace where power is needed. The case is painted in black.
FUNCTIONALITY #4:MAGNETIC SHIELDING FOIL OR PLATES
Between each fan-unit in the case a magnetic shielding foil or plate must be applied. This prevents the fans
from interfering with eachother.
FUNCTIONALITY #5:STABILISING THE GENERATED POWER
A voltage regulator should ensure that all energy coming from the ten fans is stabilized at 12 volt so it can
charge up the battery where the generated power is stored.
FUNCTIONALITY #6:POWER INVERTER 220VOLT.
The 12 volt current coming from the battery needs to be inverted to the nominal wall-outlet current; in this
design 2 x 220 volts. The case suites two outlets. The inverter should give an MAX output of 400WATT.
FUNCTIONALITY #7:FUSES
The generator needs to be protected with fuses from overpowering or shortcircuit.
FUNCTIONALITY #8:MOBILITY
Portable and mobile are two important aspects of the generator. To lift it up easily, two edges on both sides of
the case will make it possible to lift the case up and have a steady hold on it.
FUNCTIONALITY #9:EXTRA COIL
An extra copper wire wrapped around the fan could make it possible to produce even more power. When the
magnets on the blades spin close to the copper coil, elektricity is produced. This energy could than be
transferred to the battery.

5.TECHNISCH ONTWERP
In this technical design all components are described and their relationship in between. A technical design
along with the functional design are fundamental input material for the producer / designer. Below youll find
a schematic side-view of the Neodymium Generator. In the upper area two fan-units are placed on top of
eachother. These are all connected to a voltage regulator. This regulator ensures that a stable current of 12volt is going to the battery. A 50 AH battery should be enough, though this aspect could use extra research
regarding other types of batteries.
The neodymium fans continuously charge up the battery, like a dynamo in a car. On each blade of the fan is a
small, flat neodymium magnet glued. By placing two neodymium magnets against the corners of the fan with
their polarity properly aligned, the fan with magnets on the blades starts spinning. To turn a unit on, simply
push the button forward to place a magnet against the corner of the fan. It will start spinning automatically
and produce clean energy immediately.
An inverter transforms the 12 volt current into 220 volt. This element is attached to the battery. Fuses make
sure it is protected for overpowering or shortcircuit. Below is a schematic view of the generator and its
components:

can see the case is straight forward, modern, and suites fine in almost every environment. For designing the

As you can see on the pictures the case is black and the units are stored on top of eachother. The units are
placed in sleeves to pull them out of the case for maintenance purposes.

A neodymium generator exists for industrial purposes with a whole other mechanism. You could search the

Als systeem- en netwerkbeheerder bewaakte ik proactief de kwaliteit, veiligheid en
beschikbaarheid van het ICT-netwerk van de gemeente Goedereede. Mijn takenpakket
bestond uit het installeren en onderhouden van het serverpark en de
netwerkcomponenten, het installeren en technisch onderhouden van applicaties en het
beheren van de werkplekken. Daarnaast was ik actief betrokken bij diverse migratie- en
implementatieprojecten.

2014 Informatiebeleidsplan 2014-2017 Gemeente Goeree-Overflakkee
Rol:Auteur en programmamanager
Om de brug te slaan tussen bedrijfsvoering en informatisering werk ik momenteel (februari
2014) aan een informatiebeleidsplan. De strategische en tactische informatievraagstukkenworden doorvertaald naar operationele projecten. Het cordineren van de uitvoering van
deze projecten doe ik vanuit mijn rol als programmamanager.
2014 Borgen informatiebeveiliging Gemeente Goeree-Overflakkee
Rol:Auteur, Programmamanager (Security Officer) en Projectleider
Ik heb een informatiebeveiligingsplan opgesteld dat aansluit op de ambities van het
bestuur en het MT, wettelijke vereisten en landelijke kaders zoals de BIG. Het
organisatorisch en bestuurlijk borgen van informatiebeveiliging in de gemeentelijke
organisatie gebeurt door middel van zes projecten. Deze projecten worden aangestuurd
vanuit een Beveiligingsorganisatie waarvan ik de voorzitter ben. Enkele projecten /
activiteiten voer ik zelf uit, waaronder het opstellen van een continuteitsplan en het
inventariseren en bijsturen van houding en gedrag van onze medewerkers.
2014 Implementatie Mobiel Werken Gemeente Goeree-Overflakkee

Opstellen van beleid met betrekking tot het uitrollen, beheren en gebruiken van tablets,
mobiele telefoons, ipads en laptops. Ontwerpen van diverse scenarios (BYOD, CYOD,
HYOD) welke zijn afgestemd op de visie Het Nieuwe Werken.
2012 Implementatie server infrastructuur Projectorganisatie Herindeling Goeree-
Overflakkee

Dit project is uitgevoerd in samenwerking met Centric. Als projectleider namens de
gemeente was ik verantwoordelijk voor de implementatie van een nieuwe server-
infrastructuur in de fusiegemeente Goeree-Overflakkee (360 gebruikers). De nieuwe
omgeving is gebaseerd op virtualisatie en Server Based Computing. Het team dat ik
aanstuurde bestond uit alle systeembeheerders van de vier fusiegemeenten (9 personen).
Voor de aansturing van het project heb ik PRINCE2 als methodiek gebruik.

2012 BIOB 2.0 Gemeente Goedereede

BIOB staat voor Bruggen tussen Informatievoorziening, Organisatie en Bedrijfsvoering. Dit
programma bestond uit 10 projecten ten behoeve van het doorontwikkelen van de visie op
dienstverlening, bedrijfsvoering en afstemming in de informatievoorziening. Alsprogrammamanager stuurde ik tien projectleiders aan. Daarnaast bewaakte ik de
kwaliteit, doorlooptijd en integraliteit van de projectwerkzaamheden binnen de daarvoor
gestelde kaders.
2010 BIOB 1.0 Gemeente Goedereede

De gemeente Goedereede had de ambitie om haar bedrijfsvoering en
informatievoorziening een impuls te geven. De kern van de impuls werd bepaald door te
streven naar een betere dienstverlening in combinatie met efficinter werken. Daarnaast
werd geanticipeerd op landelijke ontwikkelingen en wettelijke vereisten (NUP). De impulsis projectmatig aangepakt in het programma BIOB. Aan dit programma lag een
informatiebeleidsplan ten grondslag, waarvan ik de auteur ben. Bovendien werden in BIOB
de ontwikkelingen van de bedrijfsvoering en informatievoorziening in lijn gebracht met de
ontwikkelingen bij andere gemeenten op het eiland Goeree-Overflakkee. Als
programmamanager stuurde ik dertien projectleiders aan.
Daarnaast heb ik projectmatig werken in de organisatie gemplementeerd. Voor veel
medewerkers was dat een nieuwe manier van werken. Uitvoering van dit programma

habben we besloten om een eigen pragmatische methodiek te ontwikkelen. Hierin zijn
alleen de hoofdelementen van PRINCE2 opgenomen, afgestemd op de ambtelijkeorganisatie en besluitvormingsprocessen.
