Charge the OrthoPulse® to be sure that the device is fully charged before delivering to a patient. A full charge takes approximately 6 hours using the enclosed micro USB cable and wall adaptor. You may also remove the temporary packing tape holding the device to its charging case.

A full charge is indicated when the status light turns off after pulsing amber, then green, during charging.

Devices are shipped in the locked charging case. To unlock, flip the case over and disengage the sliding lock. A green status light indicates that the device is ready for treatment; an amber status light indicates that the device does not have enough charge for a treatment.

Note: the status light guide is on the back of the charging case.

In order to activate OrthoPulse® for use with patients the patient must be added to the OrthoPulse® app.

BEFORE YOU START YOUR FIRST PATIENT

!

OrthoPulse® devices need to be activated using the OrthoPulse® app before they can be delivered to patients. You will need to have a dedicated mobile device for use in your practice.

• Apple iOS device requirements are iPhone 4S, iPad (3rd gen.), iPad mini, or iPod Touch 3 or later; with iOS7 or higher.

• Android devices require Android 4.4 or higher running Bluetooth® LE (4.0). • We highly recommend the iPad or iPad mini as the dedicated device for your

practice.

3

Download the OrthoPulse® app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store on your device.

The first time you log in, you will be able to view a short tutorial to help you get started. The tutorial is also available under the menu (top left).

21 3

Sign into the app using your OrthoPulse® ID and password that you chose when you set up your OrthoPulse® account in the Store. If you do not have an OrthoPulse® ID, go to orthopulse.com/start.

If you have forgotten your password, tap “Forgot password?” on the login screen.

4

Add the patient to the app by tapping “+” and filling in all required patient information; tap “Add” when finished.

We recommend that this is done while the patient is in the chair as the patient will receive an automatic welcome email with their own OrthoPulse® ID and a link to the OrthoPulse® app.

A message will appear with directions to place the OrthoPulse® in Bluetooth® mode.

Pick up the OrthoPulse® and place it back on the charging case. This initiates Bluetooth® mode, indicated by a solid purple status light. The device will be available to sync for 60 seconds.

OrthoPulse® will automatically sync with iOS devices (indicated by a pulsing purple status light). For Android, you will need to choose “Tap to Sync” at the bottom of the patient screen. If the purple status light turns off, lift up the device and place it back on the charging case to re-initiate Bluetooth® mode.

Tip: If you have trouble syncing the device you may still deliver it to the patient. Please record the serial number of the device and contact [email protected] to troubleshoot and pair the device remotely.

If the patient brought an iOS or Android device, we recommend you help the patient download the app and sync their device at your practice. In order to sync, the patient will need access to wifi. The tutorial is available in the app for the patient’s reference.

When the patient was added to the app, they should have received a welcome email instructing them on how to set up the app for their personal use.

If the patient does NOT have access to a compatible mobile device, instruct them to bring their OrthoPulse® to every appointment so that it may be synced. Devices have a limited memory and can store data for up to approximately 90 days. Syncing is crucial for archiving complete treatment history and tracking compliance.

!

4Demonstrate for the patient how to use OrthoPulse®; this could be a 10-second partial treatment on one arch or a full 10-minute treatment. We recommend that you have the patient watch the “How to Use and Care” video and review the “Quick Start and User Guide”, which are available at orthopulse.com/go.

OrthoPulse® is a 5-minute treatment per arch for a total of 10 minutes, once per day. To learn how to complete an OrthoPulse™ treatment refer to slide 9.

For technical assistance and any concerns specifically related to the OrthoPulse® and its accessories patients can visit: orthopulse.com/go

The device can be cleaned with a quick rinse and left to air dry in the charging case. There is no need to shake the device.

Please remind patients to store the device in the plugged-in charging case while at home. Patients should store the device in the locked charging case when traveling to prevent damage.

5

Wake the device by removing it from the charging case.

A green status light indicates that the OrthoPulse® is ready; a yellow light indicates the device needs to be charged.

Place the OrthoPulse® in the mouth covering the upper teeth and centering it between the front teeth.

Bite down gently. The device will automatically beep twice and the status light will turn blue indicating that treatment has started.

OrthoPulse® is a 5-minute session per arch for a total of 10 minutes per day.

Treatment can be paused for up to 20 seconds by removing the device.

A warm, pleasant sensation may be felt during treatment. Once the treatment is complete, the device will start beeping and the blue status light will start blinking.

Flip the device and repeat steps 2 through 4 to treat the lower teeth.
