CATECHETICAL SUNDAY AND STARTING OF RELIGIOUS EDUCATION On September 20 we opened our doors and hearts to all students and their parents, who will be a ending our Religious Edu-

ca on Program. It was a busy day. Not only was it Cateche cal Sunday and Grandparent’s Blessing Day but the school had

open house. Sister Dorota greeted everyone and introduced herself. We began with a prayer. Sister spoke of the school year

and reminded the students to have respect for their teachers, study hard and do their homework. Father Paul Adamus, gave

a beau ful talk to the children, asking them to think of why they were here and how the sacraments will bring them closer to

Jesus, especially when they a end Mass and receive Jesus. We a ended Mass together during which the teachers received,

from our Pastor, the commission to teach. Father gave a special blessing to all catechists.

All were invited to lunch in the cafeteria.

2016 MASS BOOK The Mass Inten on Book for 2016 will be opened on FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16. If you wish to schedule Mass inten ons for next year, please come to the Rectory from 4:00 p.m. un l 6:00 p.m. Sanctuary Lamps may be also scheduled on or a er the 16th.

What does it mean to have a Mass offered" for someone? An individual may ask a priest to offer a Mass for several reasons: for example, in thanksgiving, for the inten ons of another person (such as on a birthday), or, as is most common, for the repose of the soul of someone who has died. One must never forget the infinite graces that flow from the Sacrifice of the Mass which benefit one’s soul. We find not only the origins of this prac ce da ng to the early Church but we also clearly recognize its importance.

St. Pascal will be hos ng a Small Chris an Community (SCC) program this fall. Small Chris an Communi es are made up of 6 to 12 people who meet once a week for 6 weeks to pray and to share the ac on of God in their lives. Each person shares at a level where he or she feels comfortable. No previous training is needed. The mee ngs will last about 90 minutes. This coming session is from a booklet called "Lazarus at the Table". This session begins the week of October 4th and ends the week before Thanksgiving. The focus of this 6 week session will be "Catholics and Social Jus ce". Październik zalicza się do cichych okresów roku kościelnego. W ciągu ostatnich stuleci jako miesiąc różańca, miesiąc cierpliwej modlitwy, zyskał jednak szczególne oblicze. Modlitwa straciła dziś jakby w Kościele swe oczywiste znaczenie. Musimy więc na nowo odnaleźć drogę do Boga słuchającego i przemawiającego, a raczej musimy przyjąć dar tej drogi. Zacznijmy spokojnie w tej refleksji od modlitwy różańcowej. Jan Paweł II tak nauczał: "Rozważając bowiem tajemnice różańcowe patrzymy na misterium życia, męki, śmierci i zmartwychwstania Pana jej oczyma. Przeżywamy je tak jak ona w swym sercu matczynym je przeżywała. Ona zawsze u boku syna jest równocześnie obecna pośród naszych codziennych spraw". Zachęcamy więc do gorliwej i wytrwałej modlitwy różańcowej. Zapraszamy na Nabożeństwa Różańcowe do naszej parafii.

Rozpoczęcie Roku 2015-2016 w Polskiej Szkole św. Ferdynanda 12 września uroczystą Mszą św. 870 uczniów wraz z rodzicami i nauczycielami rozpoczęło nowy rok szkolny 2015-2016 w

Polskiej Katolickiej Szkole im. św. Ferdynanda. W porannej Mszy św., której przewodniczył ks. Paweł Adamus uczestniczyli

uczniowie ze zmiany porannnej. O godz. 12:00pm Mszę sw. odprawił ks. Michał Wyrzykowski. Zespół „Radość” upiększył swoim

śpiewem liturgię, a poczet sztandarowy podkreślił podniosły charakter spotkania szkolnej wspólnoty. Uczniowie uczestniczyli

aktywnie w liturgii poprzez czytania, śpiew oraz uczestnictwo w procesji z darami symbolizującymi naszą gotowość do

ofiarowania Bogu darów naszych serc: nauki, poświęcenia, trudu i pracy w trakcie roku szkolnego. Ks. Proboszcz skierował do

wszystkich słowa powitania oraz przedstawił nowego dyrektora szkoły – Sr. Dorotę Domin. Po słowach przemówienia Sr.

The first rule of life in Robert Fulghum’s classic li le book, All I Re-ally Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten is simple enough: Share everything. It’s a fundamental concept, and it’s been around a while. John the Bap st put it this way millenniums ago: “Whoever has two cloaks should share with the person who has none,” and much more recently, John Lennon expanded the vision: “Imagine no possessions/ I wonder if you can/ No need for greed and hunger/ A brotherhood of man/ Imagine all the people/ Shar-ing all the world.” It sounds good on paper--and in a song--but it’s hard. At least it was hard when I was a kid (think Halloween candy). I’ve go en be er at sharing, certainly, but I’ve got a long way to go. And the hardest thing for me to share these days is no longer a physical thing per se, but an intangible element: me. There are only so many hours in a day, and mine are pre y well-spoken for. But some mes friends ask me to, say, move a couch, or paint a fence. Occasionally I just say no. Occasionally I say yes, but begrudgingly. If God loves a joyful giver--and He does--then I don’t always qualify.

Neither, though, does Joshua in today’s first reading. Here, the Lord comes down in a cloud, and taking some of the spir-it already on Moses, God bestows it on seventy elders. Two men--Eldad and Medad--were not part of the gathering, but the spirit comes to rest upon them as well, and they begin to prophesy in the camp. Joshua could have spoken a blessing over the two, but in-

stead he turns to his friend and long- me patriarch and says, “Moses, my lord, stop them.” Moses’ simple response is one of my favorite lines in all of Scripture: “Would that all the people of the Lord were prophets.” And in a similar vein, the apostle John in to-day’s Gospel isn’t happy finding God’s favor on another. He takes his dissa sfac on directly to Jesus, in fact. “Teacher,” John says, “we saw someone driving out demons in your name, and we tried to prevent him because he does not follow us.” Jesus responds, “Do not prevent him. There is no one who performs a mighty deed in my name who can at the same me speak ill of me. For whoever is not against us is for us. Anyone who gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ, amen, I say to you, will surely not lose his reward.” Years ago at an Easter Sunday Mass that had way more people a ending than usual, I overheard two people talking as they packed themselves into a pew. “They only come on Easter and Christmas” one complained to the other. Uh…don’t we want our churches filled? Isn’t this a good thing? It’s a difficult con-cept to embrace, but when somebody--you, me, anybody--does something to build up the Kingdom, we all gain. Conversely, when somebody--you, me, anybody--does something to tear down the Kingdom, we all lose. Remember Moses: “Would that all the peo-ple of the Lord were prophets.” Remember Jesus: “There is no one who performs a mighty deed in my name who can at the same

me speak ill of me.” When the Kingdom gains, we all gain.

For Children: a pre-Baptism class is required for Baptism of the first child. Classes are held in English on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:30PM in the Church, and in Polish on the last Tuesday of each month at 7:30PM in the Church.
