MESSAGE FROM THE TOIGO ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT
Toigo Alumni and Friends: The Toigo Alumni Association’s Office of the President (OOP) welcomes you to the 6th Annual 2015 Alumni Investment Conference. We are grateful to the Toigo Foundation for developing this important
program within the Toigo Institute to showcase the talent and expertise of Toigo Alumni across a variety
of sectors while providing important leadership development and career development topics to a broad population of finance professionals. Programs like this one speak to the Founder’s vision to build a critical mass of talented diverse professionals ascending into positions of leadership within the industry. This year’s conference theme is entitled “It Starts with You” which speaks to our efforts to keep our 1,000+ member alumni base active and engaged with the Foundation. The conference will be filled with several opportunities to get up to speed on the latest happenings at the Foundation and to (re)-connect with several alumni and stakeholders. This year, the Foundation is introducing the first networking breakfast for Toigo Alumni with members of the Toigo Board of Directors. There will also be a meaningful interaction with Founder Sue Toigo
which will keep alumni informed about Toigo’s progress on several mission-critical initiatives happening
at the Foundation. The lunch program will feature former Toigo Board chair and founder of Palladium Equity Partners Marcos Rodriguez, who will share his experiences as a successful entrepreneur. The afternoon panel sessions will feature career-oriented discussions and timely investment topics which we hope you will find informative and entertaining. Again, we welcome you to this year’s conference. We hope you find value in the program, and we hope you find ways to stay connected with fellow alumni, stakeholders, and the Foundation. Sincerely, Toigo Alumni Association Office of the President Peter W. Washington (Chicago Booth 2009) and Jack Foster, Jr. (Columbia 2001)
The Toigo Foundation gratefully acknowledges the sponsors of the 2015 Toigo Alumni Investment Conference for their

Dormant Ties – An Untapped Resource
Facilitator: Pamela D. Puryear, Ph.D.
Vice President, Organization Development and Chief Talent Officer Hospira, Inc.
During this workshop we will explore the value of tapping into weaker links in your
network and reconnecting with people with whom relationships have gone dormant.
Research suggests that if we only focus time and energy on close friends and colleagues
with whom we have strong ties, we are less likely to learn new things, make new
connections, and identify new opportunities in our lives and in our careers. While close
ties breed close bonds, weak and dormant ties can help build bridges to our future.
Target Audience: Mid-Career to Senior Level
